Looking at the entire world and the entire history of human civilization, no other political force has been able to promote the historical development process of a nation as profoundly as the Communist Party of China. In modern times, after the fading of its sunset glory, China was buffeted by storms, isolated and impoverished through closing its doors to the outside world, bullied and carved up by imperialist powers, step by step reduced to a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society; the Chinese nation suffered immense misery, and the Chinese people endured humiliation. From that time on, the great Chinese people never gave up their resistance. For the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, countless people with lofty ideals fought bloodily, explored various plans, and attempted to establish various political parties, but none succeeded in solving the problems of national independence and people's liberation. The salvoes of the October Revolution brought Marxism to China. The Communist Party of China, armed with advanced theory, emerged as the times required and resolutely shouldered the historical mission of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. It is precisely because, guided by the scientific theory of Marxism and continuously promoting theoretical innovation in light of new realities, the Party has gained powerful force of truth, enabling it to make accurate strategic judgments, scientific planning, and seize the initiative at major historical junctures, leading our cause from victory to greater victory.

From the mid-19th century to the mid-20th century, various political forces and currents of thought took turns mounting the stage of Chinese history. Numerous people with lofty ideals launched reform and revolutionary movements one after another, seeking hope for national rejuvenation. These efforts ended in failure one after another. The Chinese Communists, with Comrade Mao Zedong as their chief representative, broke free from the superstition of the Soviet revolutionary experience and cast off the shackles of dogmatism that bound us, insisted on combining the basic tenets of Marxism-Leninism with China's specific realities, and made theoretical generalizations of a series of unique experiences accumulated through arduous exploration and tremendous sacrifice, achieving a great leap in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times, laying a solid ideological and political foundation for winning the great victories in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation, establishing New China, and carrying out the socialist revolution. After the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Party, our Party insisted on combining the basic tenets of Marxism with China's specific realities, established Deng Xiaoping Theory, formed the important thought of the Three Represents, and developed the Scientific Outlook on Development, continuously advancing the adaptation of Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times, keeping the Party's guiding ideology abreast of the times, and steadily pushing forward the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Modernization cannot be achieved through direct borrowing or slavish imitation; otherwise, one may end up making a poor imitation that looks like a dog rather than a tiger, falling into various modernization traps and suffering profound lessons of failure in modernization efforts. There is no fixed model for the path of modernization; what suits oneself is best; one must not cut the feet to fit the shoes. China's more than 1.4 billion people are achieving modernization as a whole; such a large-scale, arduous, and complex modernization practice has never occurred in human history. There is no ready-made experience to draw on, no fixed model to follow, and it is even more impossible to rely on other countries to achieve it. The development path and promotion methods necessarily have their own characteristics and must rely on our own independent exploration.

现代化并不是直接拿来主义、照葫芦画瓢就能真正管用的，搞不好会画虎不成反类犬，陷入各种各样的现代化陷阱，酿成现代化建设失败的深刻教训。现代化道路也并没有固定模式，适合自己的才是最好的，不能削足适履。我国十四亿多人口整体迈进现代化社会，如此规模巨大、艰巨复杂的现代化实践，在人类历史上从来没有过，没有现成的经验可以借鉴，也没有固定的模式可以遵循，更不可能依靠别的国家来实现，发展途径和推进方式必然具有自己的特点，也必须依靠我们自己独立自主的探索。

Chinese-path modernization is an unprecedented pioneering undertaking that has solved many difficulties in the development of human society, abandoned the old path of Western modernization centered on capital, polarized modernization, materialist expansion modernization, and outward expansion and plunder modernization, and expanded the ways for developing countries to achieve modernization.
