For 16 consecutive years, the export volume of agricultural products from Anqiu has led all counties in Shandong. Every eight minutes, a standard container is shipped overseas. As "China's number one county for vegetable exports," Anqiu's products reach more than 80 countries and regions, with its annual vegetable exports accounting for nearly one-seventh of Shandong's total. Among these, the actual export volumes of ginger, onions, and scallions each account for over 80 percent of the national total.

In the early morning at Liushanyu Village, Huiqu Town, Anqiu City, a thin mist lingers over the layered volcanic terraced fields. Villager Cao Hongxiang scoops up a handful of clear spring water. "Taste it, it's sweet! This flows from the ancient volcanic rock of Liushan." He points to the distant silhouette of the dormant volcanic cluster, his face full of pride. The reporter crouches down for a closer look; the soil underfoot is loose and full of pores, crumbling easily when pinched, as if brimming with boundless vitality. Cao grabs a handful of soil and says, "Experts say there's a 50-meter-thick layer of volcanic ash beneath this, containing over 30 kinds of trace elements—a natural fertilizer bank! With plenty of sunshine, the millet grows slowly, accumulating nutrients fully, so the oil from the cooked porridge is incredibly rich and fragrant." Behind him, the millet ears hang heavy, ready for harvest. This Huiqu volcanic millet, hailed by locals as "golden postpartum recovery millet," sells for 20 yuan per jin (0.5 kg) and is a favorite in the high-end market.

清晨的安丘市辉渠镇留山峪村，薄雾萦绕在层叠的火山梯田间。村民曹洪祥掬起一捧清冽的泉水，“尝尝，甜着呢！这可是从留山古火山岩里流淌出来的”。他指向远处沉睡的火山群轮廓，脸上满是自豪。记者蹲下细看，脚下的土壤疏松布满孔隙，轻轻一捏便散开，仿佛蕴藏着无穷生机。曹洪祥抓起一把土说：“专家说这底下有50米厚的火山灰层，里面藏着30多种微量元素，都是天然的肥料库！加上日照充足，谷子长得慢，养分攒得足，熬出的米油才叫一个香浓。”他身后，谷穗沉甸甸地低垂，即将迎来收获。这些被当地人誉为“黄金月子米”的辉渠火山小米，每斤能卖到20元，是高端市场的宠儿。

Leaving the volcanic terraces, we drive to the sandy-soil tomato base of Huihai Ecological Farm in Linghe Subdistrict. Inside the modern greenhouses, clusters of tomatoes hang like rubies on the vines. Picking a ripe fruit at random, gently breaking it open reveals glistening, sandy flesh with a sweet taste. The farm manager smiles and points to the loose soil underfoot. "The secret is hidden in this breathable sandy soil, plus the significant temperature difference between day and night here, which makes the sugar accumulate like pearls gathering in the fruit." He turns and points to the temperature and humidity recorder hanging inside the greenhouse. "Now we emphasize scientific cultivation, with real-time data monitoring. Temperature and humidity can be precisely controlled, and the quality gets more stable every year."

告别火山梯田，驱车来到凌河街道的汇海生态农场沙瓤西红柿基地。现代化大棚里，一串串西红柿如红宝石般缀满藤蔓。随手摘下一个熟透的果实，轻轻一掰，晶莹的沙瓤瞬间展现，味道甘甜。农场负责人笑着指了指脚下疏松的土壤，“秘诀就藏在这透气的沙质土里，再加上这里昼夜温差明显，糖分像攒珍珠似的往果肉里聚”。他又转身指向棚内悬挂的温湿度记录仪，“现在讲究科学种养，数据实时监控，温度湿度可以精准调控，品质一年比一年稳”。

As he speaks, the sound of a truck engine starting comes from outside the greenhouse—another batch of orders is about to be shipped to Beijing. "We never worry about sales. During peak season, these fruits can sell for up to 28 yuan per jin, and supply often falls short of demand!" says the farm manager.

说话间，棚外传来货车发动的响声，又是一批订单即将发往北京。“根本不愁销路，赶上旺季，这果子最高能卖到28元一斤，常常供不应求！”农场负责人说。

The source of this "innate good quality" is rooted in Anqiu's unique natural endowments. Located on the golden agricultural belt at 36° north latitude, with over 2,400 hours of annual sunshine and 48 rivers nourishing the land like blood vessels, Anqiu presents a unique tapestry of selenium-rich soil, volcanic rock formations, and vast plains and hills, providing an irreplaceable stage for a wide variety of crops.

这些“天生好品质”的源头，植根于安丘独特的自然禀赋。地处北纬36°黄金农业带，年日照超2400小时，48条河流如血脉滋养，共同塑造了安丘富硒土壤、火山岩土与广袤平原丘陵交错的独特画卷，为千姿百态的农作物提供无可复制的舞台。

This magical land and water have also continued a "legend of the three pungent vegetables" [n1] spanning five centuries. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1573–1620), ancestors along the Wen River planted the first ginger seeds. Through 500 years of meticulous selection and breeding, it has become today's national geographical indication product, known for its "large chunks, few fibers, pungent and fragrant" qualities. Currently, Anqiu's ginger planting area is stable at 140,000 mu (approx. 23,333 acres), with an annual output exceeding 700,000 tons, accounting for 80 percent of the national export share.

这方神奇的水土，更续写了一段绵延5个世纪的“三辣传奇”。明朝万历年间，汶河畔的先民们播下大姜的种源，经500年匠心选育，终成今日“块大丝少、辛辣清香”的国家地理标志产品。目前，安丘大姜种植面积稳定在14万亩，年产量突破70万吨，占全国出口份额的八成。

The vibrant vitality of the ginger industry can be seen everywhere in Anqiu's fields and enterprise workshops. At the red-sprout ginger planting base in Shijiazhuang Village, Linghe Subdistrict, "ginger-growing expert" Wu Zhongbo is leading farmers in harvesting tender ginger pieces: "Red-sprout ginger yields two crops a year, with a unit price up to 40 yuan per jin. The annual income from 10 mu easily exceeds one million yuan." Meanwhile, in the workshop of Shandong Xinshuo Food Co., Ltd. in Linghe Subdistrict, boxes of beautifully packaged Anqiu ginger are being loaded onto trucks, about to be shipped to Japan. "For just one deep-processed product, ginger paste, our annual export volume exceeds 1,000 tons," says the company's representative. "The international market has a very high level of recognition for Anqiu ginger."

大姜产业的蓬勃活力，在安丘的田间地头与企业车间处处可见。在凌河街道石家庄村红芽姜种植基地，“种姜达人”吴忠波正带领农户采收鲜嫩姜块：“红芽姜一年两茬，单价最高达40元/斤，10亩地年收入轻松破百万元。”与此同时，在位于凌河街道的山东鑫硕食品有限公司车间内，一箱箱包装精美的安丘大姜正在装车，即将发往日本。“仅姜泥这一种深加工产品，我们每年出口量就超1000吨。”该公司负责人表示，“国际市场对安丘大姜的认可度非常高。”

Anqiu scallions are also well-received in the market. Not only do they have high vitamin C content per 100 grams, but their iron content is twice the national standard. They are both a premium seasoning and a good ingredient for dietary therapy. Anqiu garlic, with its characteristics of "white skin, neat cloves, and honey-like juice," along with related deep-processed products, firmly holds one-third of the Japanese market share. As early as 1995, the former Ministry of Agriculture awarded Anqiu the title "Hometown of Ginger and Garlic in China." Today, this pungent "golden triangle" of ginger, scallions, and garlic is delivering its rich flavors to the world through a modernized industrial chain.

安丘大葱同样受到市场认可，不仅百克维生素C含量高，铁含量更是国标的2倍，是调味臻品，亦是食补良材。安丘大蒜则以“色白瓣齐、蒜汁如蜜”的特点、相关精深加工产品牢牢占据日本市场份额的三分之一。早在1995年，原农业部就授予安丘“中国姜蒜之乡”称号。如今，这辛香四溢的姜、葱、蒜“黄金三角”正通过现代化产业链，将其醇厚滋味送往全球。

Currently, Anqiu City produces over 2 million tons of ecological agricultural products annually and holds 122 national-level brands, including green and organic agricultural products. These encompass 12 national famous, special, and new agricultural products and 8 national geographical indication products. Anqiu ginger and Anqiu scallions have even been included in the EU's protection scope for geographical indication product certification. More than 30 types of specialty agricultural products from Anqiu, including ginger, scallions, cherries, and Chinese cabbage, help people rediscover the "old flavors" of their memories.

目前，安丘市年产生态农产品200多万吨，拥有122个绿色有机农产品等国字号品牌，其中涵盖12个全国名特优新农产品、8个国家地理标志产品，安丘大姜、安丘大葱更入选欧盟地理标志产品认证保护范围。安丘大姜、大葱、樱桃、白菜等30多种特色农产品，让人们找回了记忆中的“老味道”。

"Vegetable production has a lag; if you don't get the news six months in advance, the losses will be huge." Recalling last year's revision of Japanese standards for pesticide residues on scallions, Jia Guoliang, general manager of Anqiu Huihai Food Co., Ltd., was quite emotional. This also reflects the common dilemma for Chinese agricultural products "going global"—how can the decentralized operations of millions of households precisely align with ever-changing international standards? With increasingly fierce competition in the domestic market, how can one stand out among so many agricultural products?

“蔬菜生产具有滞后性，如未提前半年获知消息，将损失巨大。”回忆起去年日本修订大葱农残标准一事，安丘市汇海食品有限公司总经理贾国亮十分感慨。这也折射出中国农产品“出海”的普遍困境——千家万户的分散经营如何精准对接千变万化的国际标准？国内市场竞争愈加激烈，如何才能在众多农产品中脱颖而出？

Relying on the nation's first national-level research and evaluation base for technical barriers to trade in food and agricultural products, Anqiu proactively established a professional technical trade measures research and service team. By querying, translating, and analyzing vast amounts of standard information, it built the nation's first real-time query and comparison platform for international agricultural product standards, providing strong standard information support and precise risk warnings for numerous foreign trade enterprises across the country.

In March 2024, Japan significantly tightened the residue limits for herbicides commonly used on imported scallions. "This sudden adjustment of standards did not disrupt our plans," said a representative of a local enterprise. "We received the warning six months before Japan officially released the information and were already prepared."

According to reports, the international standard real-time query and comparison platform covers over 1,500 of the latest regulations and standards from 56 major trading countries and regions. It provides free "one-stop" services for domestic export enterprises, including regulation queries, interpretation, warnings, and response strategies. In 2024 alone, the platform issued warnings and assisted over 600 domestic enterprises in avoiding major trade risks, helping them secure new export orders exceeding 200 million yuan, acting as an "invisible guardian" against international trade barriers.

Behind this protection, the core support is Anqiu's nationally pioneering "dual-code" certification system, combining the "Edible Agricultural Product Electronic Safety Code" with the "Ecological Origin Protection Product Traceability Code." The quality safety code assigns a "digital ID" to 130,000 production and operation entities; scanning the code allows tracing of the entire process from planting to testing. The ecological origin code is authoritatively certified by the China Certification & Inspection Group (CCIC), achieving international mutual recognition.

Inside the greenhouse of Yaru Family Farm in Shidui Town, orange-yellow carrots and glossy, round potatoes look fresh and appealing. Farm manager Wang Yaru holds up a potato with the "dual code" attached and says, "Our potatoes sell for 4 yuan per jin, 30 percent higher than the ordinary price. Consumers can scan the code to see the entire process information." Similarly, at Huihai Farm in Linghe Subdistrict, vegetables with the "dual code" are exported to South Korea at a 40 percent premium.

The "dual code" has become the golden key to opening the international high-end market. Thanks to the dual-code certification, Huatao Food's sweet potato vermicelli has captured 60 percent of the South Korean market. With simultaneous technological innovation, Changshengyuan Farm adopted "virus-free ginger seeds + systematic plant protection" technology, reducing fertilizer use by 65 percent, helping Anqiu ginger successfully enter the EU market...

By formulating and implementing the nation’s first ecological product assessment standard, Anqiu has also established a quantifiable and verifiable ecological agricultural production norm. At present, 14 categories of local agricultural products have passed ecological origin product protection assessment, and 300,000 mu [n1] of farmland have broken free from dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

In July this year, Anqiu held an observation and exchange conference on the transformation from a major agricultural county to a strong health food county, clearly proposing a strategic path of “promoting transformation with a high profile and high standards”: focusing on the goal of “upgrading from ensuring the people eat safely to eating ecologically and healthily,” and securing the lifeline of the health food industry with an ecological foundation.

今年7月，安丘召开农业大市向健康食品强市转型观摩交流大会，明确提出“高举高打推进转型”的战略路径：紧盯“让群众吃得安全向吃得生态、吃得健康升级”目标，以生态根基筑牢健康食品产业命脉。

To break through the bottlenecks of ecological transformation, Anqiu has broken new ground through the dual innovation of “technology + mechanism.” The “research institutes + leading enterprises + farms” industry-academia-research standard alliance has formulated 14 technical standards, among which the full-industry-chain standard for ecological ginger has been exported nationwide.

“We use biochar to improve the soil, it’s like giving the ginger fields a spa treatment.” At the nation’s first industrialized seedling center for resistant ginger seedlings, jointly built by Shandong Axe Industrial Development Co., Ltd. and the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the company’s general manager Zhao Yonggang held up a virus-free ginger seedling “Anjiang No. 1” and used a metaphor: “It can both absorb heavy metals and cultivate good microbial flora. Soil-borne diseases are reduced by 90%, gingerol content increases by 30%, and the export price doubles.”

In the organic fertilizer production workshop of Goer Farm [n4], the roar of machinery rises and falls. Workers skillfully operate intelligent equipment, orderly feeding raw materials such as crop straw and fruit tree branches into intelligent fermentation chambers. After 30 days of precise temperature-controlled fermentation, organic fertilizer rich in trace elements can return to the fields to nourish the land. This organic fertilizer farm, with an annual production capacity of 4,000 tons, is injecting new momentum into the ecological agricultural development of Huiqu Town through an ecological cycle model of “turning waste into treasure.” “We explore new paths for agricultural development based on actual conditions. Through scientific proportioning and ‘static aeration fermentation’ technology, we convert high-quality organic fertilizer, increasing crop yields by 12% to 15%, while simultaneously achieving the triple breakthrough of ‘pollution control — quality improvement — yield increase’,” said Liu Jingang, head of Goer Farm.

在歌尔农场的有机肥生产车间，机器轰鸣声此起彼伏。工人们熟练操控智能化设备，将作物秸秆、果树枝条等原料有序投入智能发酵仓，历经30天精准控温发酵后，富含微量元素的有机肥便可重返田间滋养土地。这座年产能4000吨的有机肥农场，正以“变废为宝”的生态循环模式，为辉渠镇生态农业发展注入新动能。“我们结合实际探索农业发展新路径，通过科学配比与‘静态曝气发酵’技术转化优质有机肥，令作物增产12%至15%，同步实现‘治污—提质—增产’三重突破。”歌尔农场负责人刘金刚说。

While encouraging independent innovation and upgrading by farms, Anqiu, targeting the pain points of high organic fertilizer costs and unstable quality, has innovated a mechanism of “government coordination, state-owned enterprise operation,” establishing a professional company that uses big data for precise proportioning and supplies customized organic fertilizer at cost price.

At the Menghe Ecological Farm in Jingzhi Town, a turning machine is mixing chicken manure with straw for fermentation. “In the past, treating these wastes cost hundreds of thousands of yuan each year; now turning waste into treasure has actually become ‘black gold’!” said the farm head Meng Qingjun, picking up a handful of dark organic fertilizer to introduce: “The government’s innovative construction of the ‘1+14+N’ [n5] county-wide organic fertilizer promotion mechanism allows us to get customized fertilizer at cost price, reducing costs from 1,000 yuan per ton to 200 yuan.” This move has driven 92% of Anqiu’s livestock and poultry manure and 95% of its straw to be converted into high-quality organic fertilizer, with soil organic matter content increasing by 0.8 percentage points over three years.

在景芝镇孟赫生态农场，翻抛机正将鸡粪与秸秆混合发酵。“过去处理这些废弃物每年要花十几万元，现在变废为宝反而成了‘黑金’！”负责人孟庆军抓起一把黝黑的有机肥介绍，“政府创新构建的‘1+14+N’全域有机肥推广机制，让我们以成本价拿到定制肥，成本从每吨千元降至200元。”此举推动安丘92%的畜禽粪污、95%的秸秆转化为优质有机肥，土壤有机质含量3年提升0.8个百分点。

What also accelerates the rooting of ecological agriculture are tangible policy dividends. The “Ten Measures to Support the Development of Ecological Farms and Facility Agriculture” is like a “timely rain” for farmers: newly built greenhouses receive a maximum subsidy of 50,000 yuan per mu, business entities enjoy loan interest subsidies of up to 2 million yuan, and demonstration farms receive rewards of 50,000 to 100,000 yuan. “These real financial supports have greatly stimulated the enthusiasm of farmers. The county-wide ecological agriculture is flourishing, truly hitting the mark in the hearts of farmers,” said Sun Hailong, Director of the Anqiu Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Currently, 1,397 local farms have completed ecological transformation, covering 300,000 mu of land.

让生态农业加速扎根的，还有实打实的政策红利。《扶持生态农场和设施农业发展的十条措施》对农户来说像一场“及时雨”：新建大棚每亩最高补贴5万元，经营主体享最高200万元贷款贴息，示范农场奖励5万元至10万元。“这些真金白银的扶持极大激励了农户热情，全域生态农业蓬勃发展，真正做到了农民心坎上。”安丘市农业农村局局长孙海龙说，目前当地1397家农场完成生态化转型，覆盖30万亩土地。

Furthermore, a cluster of health food enterprises has risen powerfully, reshaping Anqiu’s industrial genes. Yuanqingtian’s [n6] bamboo shoots and chestnuts rank first in sales volume in Japan; its prepared garlic and ginger products respectively account for one-third and one-quarter of the Japanese market share; Lufeng Group [n7] sells products to more than 20 countries and regions, including Japan and the European Union…

These achievements are the result of Anqiu’s deep cultivation and accumulated strength in the export-oriented industrial cluster zone. As one of Shandong’s first batch of agricultural product export industrial clusters, its international market share of agricultural products is remarkable. Among the city’s more than 400 processing enterprises, over 190 export enterprises have built a supply chain network covering more than 80 countries and regions, transforming the “Anqiu Standard” into global competitiveness.

这些成果的取得，是安丘深耕外向型产业集聚区的厚积薄发。作为山东首批农产品出口产业集聚区，其农产品国际市场份额令人瞩目。全市400余家加工企业中，190余家出口企业构建起覆盖80余个国家和地区的供应链网络，将“安丘标准”转化为全球竞争力。

“We must continue to expand opening up while taking the path of ‘dual circulation’ development, so that high-quality ecological agricultural products can both go global and sell well,” Qiao Risheng pointed out. To assist enterprises in the reform of integrating domestic and foreign trade, Anqiu implements “one standard, one production line,” producing products of the same quality for export and domestic sales, providing technical support for domestic products; it guides enterprises to focus on their main business, expanding new export channels on one hand and tapping internal potential on the other, achieving a double harvest through precise alignment of domestic and foreign trade.

“我们要在持续扩大开放的同时走好‘双循环’发展之路，让优质生态农产品既能走出去，又能卖得好。”乔日升指出。为助力企业内外贸一体化改革，安丘实行“一条标准一条生产线”，生产出口和内销同样质量的产品，为内销产品提供技术支撑；引导企业聚焦主业，一手拓展出口新渠道，一手深挖内部潜能，通过内外贸精准对接实现双丰收。

At an enterprise matchmaking meeting organized by Anqiu, Lufeng Group learned that the Japanese-invested 7-Eleven convenience stores were seeking a chicken supplier domestically. “We have rich experience exporting to Japan, and we quickly secured the order by aligning with our high-standard quality system and products,” said Liu Yongfa, Deputy General Manager of the group. Subsequently, they continuously developed new products and optimized the supply chain according to domestic demand, successively obtaining access qualifications from several convenience store chains, creating blockbuster single products like charcoal-grilled chicken meatball skewers, with over 500 million skewers sold for this single item alone. From January to June this year, Lufeng Group’s main business revenue reached 390 million yuan, and its products now cover over 30,000 convenience stores domestically.

在安丘组织的一次企业对接会上，鲁丰集团了解到日资7-11便利店正在国内寻求鸡肉供应商。“我们拥有出口日本的丰富经验，以高标准的质量体系和产品对接很快拿下了订单。”该集团副总经理刘永发说。此后，他们针对国内需求持续研发新品、优化供应链，接连获得多家便利店准入资格，打造出炭烤鸡丸串等爆款单品，仅此一款就热销超5亿串。今年1月份至6月份，鲁丰集团主营业务收入3.9亿元，产品已覆盖国内超3万家便利店。

The successful breakthrough into the international high-end market has provided strong support for rural revitalization. With the landing of projects from Fortune Global 500 companies such as CP Group [n8] and COFCO Grain, it has directly driven the development of Anqiu’s vegetable industry belt covering over 400,000 mu, linked more than 4,000 cooperatives and family farms, and driven over 60,000 small-scale farmers to share in the dividends of the international market share. This “base + processing + export” full-industry-chain model not only ensures stable sales channels for agricultural products but also increases added value through the processing link.

国际高端市场的成功突破，为乡村振兴提供了有力支撑。随着正大蛋业、中粮粮谷等多个世界500强企业的项目落地，直接拉动安丘40余万亩蔬菜产业带发展，联结4000余家合作社和家庭农场，带动6万多小农户共享国际市场份额红利。这种“基地+加工+出口”的全产业链模式，既保障了农产品销路稳定，又通过加工环节提升了附加值。

Currently, Anqiu has formed a complete industrial system covering fruit and vegetable processing, meat processing, feed processing and other categories, creating 14 provincial-level industrialized consortia mainly based on ginger, scallions and poultry meat, achieving improvement in all links and value addition across the entire chain. In 2024, the local area newly developed 50 ecological demonstration farms and 50,000 mu of facility greenhouses, driving an increase in farmers’ income of 2.6 billion yuan.

目前，安丘已形成果蔬加工、肉类加工、饲料加工等门类齐全的产业体系，打造以大姜、大葱、禽肉为主的14个省级产业化联合体，实现全环节提升、全链条增值。2024年，当地新发展50个生态示范农场、5万亩设施大棚，带动农民增收26亿元。

Anqiu’s practical path is clear. By building a quality foundation with rigid supervision, it wins the trust of the international market; by driving value multiplication through ecological transformation, it shapes high-end premium capacity; ultimately, by broadening the channels for common prosperity through chain extension, it makes farmers the biggest beneficiaries of the industry chain’s value addition. From an international standard barrier-breaker to building a big health food city, this strong agricultural county, which has grown international competitiveness from the fields, is using high standards to lead high-quality development, promoting the coordinated development of agricultural efficiency, farmers’ income increase and ecological value enhancement.
