Vigorously Promote the Spirit of Model Workers, the Spirit of Labor, and the Spirit of Craftsmanship

Glory belongs to the working people, and happiness belongs to the working people. On April 28, as International Workers' Day approached, the conference celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and commending national model workers and advanced workers was held in the Great Hall of the People. At the conference, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized "vigorously promoting the spirit of model workers, the spirit of labor, and the spirit of craftsmanship," and encouraged the commended model workers and advanced workers to cherish their honors, maintain their true character, continue their efforts, and make new contributions.

光荣属于劳动者，幸福属于劳动者。4月28日，“五一”国际劳动节到来之际，庆祝中华全国总工会成立100周年暨全国劳动模范和先进工作者表彰大会在人民大会堂隆重举行。会上，习近平总书记强调“大力弘扬劳模精神、劳动精神、工匠精神”，勉励受到表彰的劳动模范和先进工作者珍惜荣誉、保持本色，继续努力、再立新功。

Model workers and advanced workers are role models for the people and pillars of the nation. From 1950 to the present, China has held 17 national model worker commendation conferences. Unfolding the historical scroll, a host of selfless and dedicated model workers who put the public interest first come into view, such as Zhao Zhankui, "a banner of the workers in the border region," [1]1 Zhao Zhankui was a model worker in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region during the 1940s, known for his exemplary dedication to production. Wu Yunduo, "a pioneer of the ordnance industry," [2]2 Wu Yunduo was a celebrated engineer and model worker in China's early ordnance industry, known for his self-sacrifice and innovation despite severe injuries. and Wang Jinxi, "the Iron Man." [3]3 Wang Jinxi, known as "Iron Man," was a legendary oil worker who led drilling teams during the Daqing oilfield development in the 1960s, symbolizing hard struggle. The national model workers and advanced workers commended this time include traditional laborers in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fishery, and manufacturing, as well as inheritors of fine traditional Chinese culture such as arts and crafts masters and Qiang embroidery technique instructors, and also new occupational workers such as food delivery riders, courier transfer workers, and home service training instructors. They "love whatever job they do, and excel in whatever line they are in," creating extraordinary achievements in ordinary positions, and playing a leading and exemplary role in promoting the development of the cause and advancing the progress of the times.

劳动模范和先进工作者是人民的楷模、国家的栋梁。从1950年至今，我国已经召开了17次全国劳模表彰大会。翻开历史画卷，“边区工人一面旗帜”赵占魁、“兵工事业开拓者”吴运铎、“铁人”王进喜等一大批忘我奉献、一心为公的劳模形象就会浮现在我们眼前。这次受到表彰的全国劳动模范和先进工作者有传统的农、林、牧、渔业和制造业等行业劳动者，也有工艺美术师、羌绣技艺指导师等中华优秀传统文化的传承者，还有外卖骑手、快递接驳员、家政服务培训师等新职业劳动者。他们“干一行、爱一行，专一行、精一行”，在平凡的岗位上创造了不平凡的业绩，在促进事业发展、推动时代进步中发挥了示范引领作用。

The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation requires both powerful material forces and powerful spiritual forces. Through long-term practice, we have cultivated and formed the spirit of model workers, characterized by dedication to work, striving for excellence, hard struggle, daring to innovate, indifference to fame and fortune, and willingness to contribute; the spirit of labor, characterized by respecting labor, loving labor, working diligently, and working honestly; and the spirit of craftsmanship, characterized by persistence and focus, continuous improvement, meticulous attention to detail, and the pursuit of excellence. The spirit of model workers, the spirit of labor, and the spirit of craftsmanship are vivid manifestations of the core socialist values, vivid manifestations of the national spirit centered on patriotism and the spirit of the times centered on reform and innovation, and a powerful spiritual driving force that inspires the entire Party and the people of all ethnic groups across the country to advance bravely through wind and rain.

中华民族伟大复兴既需要强大的物质力量，也需要强大的精神力量。在长期实践中，我们培育形成了爱岗敬业、争创一流、艰苦奋斗、勇于创新、淡泊名利、甘于奉献的劳模精神，崇尚劳动、热爱劳动、辛勤劳动、诚实劳动的劳动精神，执着专注、精益求精、一丝不苟、追求卓越的工匠精神。劳模精神、劳动精神、工匠精神，是社会主义核心价值观的生动体现，是以爱国主义为核心的民族精神和以改革创新为核心的时代精神的生动体现，是鼓舞全党全国各族人民风雨无阻、勇敢前进的强大精神动力。

Today's world is undergoing changes unseen in a century; today's China is at a critical period for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Our prospects are bright, but the road ahead will not be smooth; there may be major tests of high winds and rough waves, or even stormy seas. The more glorious the mission and the more arduous the task, the more we need a powerful spirit to build consensus, inspire morale, and stimulate drive, and the more we need to vigorously promote the spirit of model workers, the spirit of labor, and the spirit of craftsmanship, fully mobilizing the initiative, enthusiasm, and creativity of the vast number of working people, to gather a mighty force for winning new victories in comprehensively building a modern socialist country.

今天的世界，正经历百年未有之大变局；今天的中国，正处于中华民族伟大复兴的关键时期。我们的前途一片光明，但脚下的路不会是一马平川，可能有风高浪急甚至惊涛骇浪的重大考验。越是使命光荣、任务艰巨，越需要强大的精神凝聚共识、鼓舞斗志、激发干劲，越需要大力弘扬劳模精神、劳动精神、工匠精神，充分调动广大劳动者的积极性、主动性、创造性，为夺取全面建设社会主义现代化国家新胜利汇聚磅礴力量。

The beautiful dreams of the human world can only be realized through honest labor; the various difficulties in development can only be solved through honest labor; all the brilliance in life can only be forged through honest labor. We must vigorously promote the social trend that labor is the most glorious, the most noble, the greatest, and the most beautiful, and create a good atmosphere of respecting labor, respecting knowledge, respecting talent, and respecting creation. Further, we should tell the stories of model workers and advanced workers well, guide the whole society to learn from their deeds and promote their spirit, carry out propaganda and education with the theme of "happiness is created through labor," incorporate labor education into the entire process of talent cultivation, educate and guide young people to establish a labor outlook that takes pride in hard work and is ashamed of laziness and indolence, and cultivate generation after generation of high-quality workers who love labor, are diligent in labor, and are good at labor. Focusing on the primary task of promoting high-quality development, we should comply with the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, create better employment and working conditions, encourage the vast number of workers and the working masses to make contributions and innovate, and enhance workers' sense of gain, achievement, and happiness.

人世间的美好梦想，只有通过诚实劳动才能实现；发展中的各种难题，只有通过诚实劳动才能破解；生命里的一切辉煌，只有通过诚实劳动才能铸就。要大力弘扬劳动最光荣、劳动最崇高、劳动最伟大、劳动最美丽的社会风尚，营造尊重劳动、尊重知识、尊重人才、尊重创造的良好氛围。进一步讲好劳动模范和先进工作者的故事，引导全社会学习他们的事迹、弘扬他们的精神，开展以劳动创造幸福为主题的宣传教育，把劳动教育纳入人才培养全过程，教育引导青少年树立以辛勤劳动为荣、以好逸恶劳为耻的劳动观，培养一代又一代热爱劳动、勤于劳动、善于劳动的高素质劳动者。聚焦推动高质量发展这一首要任务，顺应新一轮科技革命和产业变革，创造更加良好的就业和劳动条件，激励广大职工和劳动群众建功立业、创新创造，增强劳动者的获得感、成就感、幸福感。
