October 11: Dean and Party Secretary Deng Chun-dong Meets Representatives of the French Communist Party

On October 11, 2016, Deng Chun-dong, Dean and Party Secretary of the Academy of Marxism, held a brief but in-depth discussion at the French Communist Party headquarters in Paris with representatives of the French Communist Party on strengthening bilateral cooperation and topics of mutual concern.

2016年10月11日，马研院院长、党委书记邓纯东在法国共产党巴黎总部与法国共产党代表，就加强双边合作及各自关心的话题进行了短暂而深入的座谈。

The main representatives of the French Communist Party participating in the discussion included Ms. Lydia Samarbakhsh, Director of the International Department of the French Communist Party and member of the Standing Committee of the French Communist Party Central Committee; Mr. Francis Wurtz, honorary member of the European Parliament; and Ms. Dominique Bari, editor-in-chief of the French journal *La Pensée* and member of the Scientific Committee of the Péri Foundation.

参加座谈的法国共产党代表主要有法共国际部主任、法共中央常委委员琳蒂亚·萨玛巴克施（Lydia Samarbakhsh）女士，欧洲议会荣誉议员弗朗西斯·乌尔兹（Francis Wurtz）先生和法国《思想》杂志主编、佩里基金会科学委员会委员多米尼克·巴里（Dominique Bari）女士等。

Dean Deng Chun-dong first expressed sincere gratitude to the French Communist Party, the French Péri Foundation, and other co-organizers of the French venue of the "China Path" Europe Forum, and conveyed his desire to deepen cooperation. Director Lydia stated that the French Communist Party attaches great importance to and actively works toward inter-party exchanges with the Communist Party of China, especially mutual learning and cooperation between the young Party members of both parties in areas such as Party building, governance, and cultural exchange. The successful convening of the China-Europe Forum has provided solid academic support for the development of positive and friendly bilateral relations between the two parties. Mr. Francis Wurtz argued that the European model is experiencing a historic crisis, particularly in the areas of social security and the protection of labor rights. If China's the Belt and Road Initiative can attend to the employment and welfare issues of the people in the relevant countries and regions, it will surely create an era of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.

邓纯东院长首先对法国共产党、法国佩里基金会等“中国道路”欧洲论坛法国分会场的合办方表示了衷心感谢，并表达了深化合作的想法。琳蒂亚主任表示，法国共产党非常重视并积极致力于与中国共产党的党际交流，尤其是两党青年党员在党建、治国理政、文化交流等领域的互鉴合作，中欧论坛的成功召开为两党发展积极友好的双边关系提供了坚实的学术支撑。弗朗西斯·乌尔兹先生认为，欧洲模式正遭遇历史性危机，尤其在社会保障和劳动权益保护方面，中国的一带一路战略如能关照到相关国家及地区人民的就业和福利问题，必将成就一个互利共赢的时代。

The two sides also exchanged views and opinions on regional hot-button issues such as China's sovereignty over the South China Sea and EU trade protectionism. Finally, the two sides briefly summarized the situation of the 2016 French venue meeting and held preliminary consultations on the forum theme for 2017.

双方还就中国的南海主权问题、欧盟贸易保护主义等地区热点问题，交流了意见和看法。最后，双方对2016年法国分会场的会议情况进行了简要总结，并就2017年的论坛主题进行了初步磋商。

The Chinese representatives participating in the discussion also included Researcher Tang Zhou-yan, Party Secretary of the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences; Researcher Lü Wei-zhou, Director of the International Communist Movement Department of the Academy of Marxism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; and Ji Yong-chao, editor-in-chief of the Anhui Academy of Social Sciences.

参加座谈的中方代表还有山东省社科院党委书记唐洲雁研究员、中国社科院马研院国际共运部主任吕薇洲研究员、安徽省社科院计永超主编等。
