April 15: The Fourth National Forum on the Development of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics (2017) Held in Tongren, Guizhou

In order to create a favorable public opinion environment for the 19th National Congress of the CPC and to further deepen research on socialism with Chinese characteristics, on April 15, 2017, the Fourth National Forum on the Development of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, themed “Contemporary Social Trends of Thought and the Development of the Theory of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics,” was held at Tongren University in Guizhou Province. This forum was jointly sponsored by the Research Department of Marxist Development, Institute of Marxism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; the Contemporary Theoretical Trends of Thought Research Center, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; the Editorial Office of *Teaching and Research*, Renmin University of China; and the School of Marxism, Tongren University. Researcher Jiang Hui, Party Secretary of the Institute of Information and Intelligence Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Researcher Fan Jianxin, Vice President of the Institute of Marxism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Researcher Xin Xiangyang, Director of the Research Department of Marxist Development, Institute of Marxism; Professor Qin Xuan, Editor-in-Chief of *Teaching and Research*, Renmin University of China; Professor Zhou Chunming, former member of the Academic Affairs Committee of the Beijing Municipal Party School; Professor Han Haitao, School of Marxism, Renmin University of China; and Professor Rao Xiaohua, Deputy Party Secretary of Tongren University, attended the opening ceremony of the forum. More than one hundred experts, scholars, and faculty and students from Tongren University from across the country participated in the forum.

为了为党的19大召开营造一个好的舆论环境，进一步深化对中国特色社会主义的研究，2017年4月15日，以“当代社会思潮与中国特色社会主义理论发展”为主题的全国第四届中国特色社会主义发展论坛在贵州省铜仁学院举行。此次论坛由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义发展研究部、中国社会科学院当代理论思潮研究中心、中国人民大学《教学与研究》编辑部、铜仁学院马克思主义学院联合主办。中国社科院信息情报院党委书记姜辉研究员、中国社科院马研院副院长樊建新研究员、马研院马克思主义发展研究部主任辛向阳研究员，中国人民大学《教学与研究》总编秦宣教授，北京市委党校原校务委员周春明教授，中国人民大学马克思主义学院韩海涛教授，铜仁学院党委副书记饶小华教授等出席论坛开幕式。来自全国各地专家学者、铜仁学院师生百余人参加论坛。

Xin Xiangyang, Qin Xuan, Jiang Hui, Zhou Chunming, Han Haitao, Liao Shenggang, Dean of the School of Marxism at Jishou University, and Pi Kunqian, Dean of the School of Marxism at Tongren University, delivered keynote reports. They respectively introduced the latest developments in domestic and international philosophical and social science research, particularly Marxist research, and presented their own views; analyzed new dynamics emerging in the field of social trends of thought both domestically and internationally; proposed innovative mechanisms for the development of the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics; discussed legal means and pathways to curb the erroneous trend of historical nihilism; and expounded on how to use Marxism to guide social trends of thought and strengthen confidence in socialism with Chinese characteristics, which resonated with the experts and scholars present.

辛向阳、秦宣、姜辉、周春明、韩海涛、吉首大学马克思主义学院院长廖胜刚、铜仁学院马克思主义学院院长皮坤乾做了主题报告。他们分别介绍了国内外哲学社会科学研究特别是马克思主义研究的最新情况及自己的看法，分析了社会思潮领域国内外出现的新动态，提出了中国特色社会主义理论发展的创新机制，畅谈了遏制历史虚无主义错误思潮的法律手段和途径，论述了如何利用马克思主义引领社会思潮、坚定中国特色社会主义自信等，引起在场专家学者的共鸣。

The experts and scholars attending this conference, drawing on their respective research fields, offered suggestions and proposals for criticizing various erroneous trends of thought and consolidating the guiding role of Marxism in the ideological domain. The conference achieved complete success.

参加本次会议的专家学者结合各自研究领域，为批判各种错误思潮、巩固马克思主义在意识形态领域的指导地位建言献策，会议取得圆满成功。
