"2017 China Road Europe Forum" Held, Chinese and Italian Scholars Focus on China-Europe Cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative

International Online News (China Radio International reporter Song Chengjie): On October 13, the "2017 China Road Europe Forum – China-Europe Cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative" Italian sub-forum was held in Rome. This forum was co-organized by the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Italian political and cultural association "Marx in the 21st Century," the Gramsci Foundation of Italy, and other institutions. Over 100 experts and scholars from China and Italy attended the forum, offering their views and engaging in lively discussions on the topic of China-Europe cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

国际在线消息（中国国际广播电台记者 宋承杰）：10月13日，“2017中国道路欧洲论坛——‘一带一路’倡议下的中欧合作”意大利分论坛在罗马举行。本届论坛由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院、意大利“二十一世纪马克思”政治文化协会、意大利葛兰西基金会等机构共同主办。来自中国和意大利的100多位专家学者出席论坛，围绕“一带一路”倡议下的中欧合作议题各抒己见并展开热烈讨论。

The "China Road Europe Forum" was founded in 2014, with venues in Spain, France, and Italy. This year marks its fourth edition, with the theme "China-Europe Cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative." The forum aims to strengthen China-Europe academic exchanges, increase European society's understanding of China, and promote friendship and cooperation between the two sides.

“中国道路欧洲论坛”创办于2014年，在西班牙、法国和意大利均设有会场，今年是第四届，论坛的主题为“‘一带一路’倡议下的中欧合作”。论坛旨在加强中欧学术交流，增加欧洲社会对中国的了解，促进双方的友谊合作。

作为论坛主办方之一，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院院长、党委书记邓纯东在致辞中指出，习近平主席提出的“一带一路”倡议得到了国际社会的广泛认同，促进了沿线国家的设施联通、政策沟通、贸易畅通、资金融通、人心相通，中国和有关国家签署的合作文件已达到76大项，276小项，合作项目正在如火如荼地展开。但是，一些欧洲国家对于“一带一路”倡议仍缺乏客观、真实和全面的认识。“一带一路”的性质，是要推动沿线国家进行更好的合作，坚持共建共商共享的原则。中国的“一带一路”倡议既不是老殖民者争夺市场的办法，也不是马歇尔计划的翻版，更不是原来的新自由主义全球化，而是坚持平等合作的新型全球化，其目的是为了构建人类命运共同体。他希望能与意大利方面通过更多的交流，来促进两国之间的合作。

Silvio Pons, President of the Gramsci Foundation and Professor of History at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, believes that the Belt and Road Initiative is a pioneering undertaking in today’s world, with ambitious goals and a broad geographical scope. It is beneficial not only for economic and trade cooperation but also for promoting exchanges in culture and other fields. China and Italy should pursue multi-domain, all-round cooperation along this path.

葛兰西基金会主席、罗马第二大学历史系教授西尔维奥?彭斯认为，“一带一路”倡议是当今世界的创举，目标宏伟，涉及地域广泛，不仅有益于经贸合作，也有助于推动文化等各领域的交流。意中双方应沿着这一道路展开多领域、全方位的合作。

Zheng Xuan, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Italy, expressed agreement with this view. In her speech, she stated that the Belt and Road Initiative and China–Italy cooperation are both the theme of this forum and a hot topic of widespread concern across all sectors of Italian society. Since 2013, the Belt and Road Initiative has gradually transformed from concept into action, from vision into reality. Although the Belt and Road Initiative originates from China, it benefits the world, has become an important avenue for strengthening international cooperation, and provides new opportunities for improving the well-being of people in all countries. Italy, as the terminus of the ancient Silk Road and a key hub of the Belt and Road Initiative, has its own advantages and strengths in many fields, and there are many points of convergence for future development between the two countries. China is willing to work hand in hand with Italy, seize the opportunities, and ensure that China–Italy relations develop steadily and far into the future.

中国驻意大利大使馆公参郑璇对此表示赞同，她在致辞中表示，“一带一路”与中意合作，既是本届论坛的主题，也是意大利社会各界广泛关注的热点问题。自2013年以来，“一带一路”已经逐渐从理念转化为行动，从愿景变为现实。“一带一路”倡议虽然源自中国，但惠及世界，已经成为加强国际合作的重要途径，为增进各国民众福祉提供了新机遇。意大利是古代丝绸之路的终点和“一带一路”的重要枢纽，在众多领域有自己的优势和特长，两国未来发展也存在不少契合之处。中方愿与意方携手合作，抓住机遇，让中意关系行稳致远。

In response to doubts raised about the Belt and Road Initiative, Professor Palanti of the Medici Institute in Italy pointed out that the Belt and Road Initiative is first and foremost a peaceful global cooperation plan, carrying no expansionist intent—this is an undeniable fact. Secondly, the Belt and Road Initiative has very concrete and pragmatic content; it is not vague generalities. Many related cooperation projects have already been smoothly launched, bringing tangible benefits to participating countries along the route.

针对“一带一路”倡议受到的质疑，意大利梅第奇学院教授帕兰蒂指出，“一带一路”倡议首先是一个和平的全球合作方案，不带有任何扩张意图，这是一个不容否认的事实，其次“一带一路”倡议有着非常具体务实的内容，并不是泛泛而谈，可以看到许多相关合作项目已经顺利展开，为沿线的参与国带来了实实在在的好处。

The Italian sub-forum of the "2017 China Road Europe Forum" has been held for the fourth consecutive year. Chinese experts and scholars have brought a wealth of authentic and valuable information to their Italian counterparts, thereby receiving a warm welcome. As the event coordinator, Maringio, a member of the Central Committee of the Italian Communist Party, expressed deep feelings. He said that whether in terms of participants or the content of discussions, the event was very successful. China's proposals focus more on inclusive development and equal cooperation among countries—content that is rarely seen in local Italian newspapers. Thus, the "China Road Europe Forum" provides a very rare opportunity to truly understand China.
