October 6, 2017: The Fourth China Road Europe Forum Held in Spain

On October 6, 2017, the Fourth China Road Europe Forum was convened in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The Spanish session of the forum was co-hosted by the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Galician International Analysis and Documentation Institute of Spain, with support from the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, Casa Asia of Spain, and the Embassy and Consulates of the People’s Republic of China in Spain. The theme of this forum was “China-Europe Cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.” Over 100 experts and scholars from think tanks and research institutions in China and Spain attended the forum. The China Road Europe Forum was inaugurated in 2014, with the aim of strengthening academic exchanges between China and Europe, enhancing European society’s understanding of China, and promoting friendship and cooperation between the two sides.

2017年10月6日，在西班牙圣地亚哥-德-孔波斯特拉市召开了第四届中国道路欧洲论坛。西班牙会场的论坛由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院、西班牙加里西亚国际分析和文档学院主办，山东社会科学院、西班牙亚洲之家、中华人民共和国驻西班牙使领馆协办。本届论坛的主题为“一带一路”倡议下的中欧合作。来自中西两国智库和研究机构的100多位专家学者出席了本届论坛。“中国道路欧洲论坛”创办于2014年，旨在加强中欧学术交流，增加欧洲社会对中国的了解，促进双方的友谊合作。

At the opening ceremony, the Mayor of Santiago de Compostela, Martiño Noriega, delivered a warm and enthusiastic address. Deng Chundong, Party Secretary, President, and Researcher of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered an important speech on behalf of the organizers. He expressed the hope that participating scholars would engage in in-depth discussions on topics such as the China Road, the Belt and Road Initiative, and a community with a shared future for mankind. He pointed out that the great achievements of the China Road have made it a hot topic. Since the global financial crisis of 2007, many countries around the world have encountered numerous difficulties and crises in economic and social governance, including Latin America falling into the middle-income trap. China, however, has continued to develop rapidly and healthily. A large country with a population of 1.4 billion enjoys social and political stability, unity, and harmony. Behind this phenomenon lie profound institutional reasons. He emphasized that the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping has made unique and positive contributions to promoting global cooperation, economic development, and solving economic difficulties. The thought of a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by President Xi Jinping is a Chinese solution to global problems, which has elicited strong responses and heated discussion in the international community.

在开幕式上，圣地亚哥-德-孔波斯特拉市市长马蒂纽•诺列卡发表了人热情洋溢的致辞。中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院党委书记、院长、研究员邓纯东，代表主办方发表重要讲话。他希望与会学者就中国道路、“一带一路”、人类命运共同体等问题进行深入讨论。他指出，中国道路的伟大成就，使得中国道路成为热门话题。2007年全球金融危机以来，世界上很多国家在经济社会治理上都出现了大量难题危机，包括拉丁美洲陷入了中等收入陷阱。而中国却一直持续快速健康发展。14亿人口的大国，社会政治稳定，团结和谐。这种现象背后有其深刻的制度原因。他强调，习近平主席提出的“一带一路”为促进全球合作，经济发展，解决经济难题，做出了独特的积极的贡献。习近平主席提出的人类命运共同体思想是应对全球问题的中国方案，在国际社会引起了强烈反响，热烈讨论。

Huang Yazhong, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Spain, delivered an important speech. He pointed out that the Belt and Road Initiative, an initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, has become one of the important ways for cooperation between China and the international community and has been welcomed by countries along the route. The Belt and Road Initiative is not only about economic cooperation but also provides opportunities for exchanges and cooperation among different civilizations in the world, offering a higher platform for China-Spain cooperation.

Julio Ríos, Honorary President of the Galician International Analysis and Documentation Institute, pointed out that the Belt and Road Initiative has played an important role not only in economic and trade cooperation but also in comprehensive social development and the transmission of inclusive concepts. Galicia, as a gateway to the Atlantic, can play a significant role in the practice of the Belt and Road Initiative.

加利西亚国际分析和文档学院荣誉院长胡里奥•里奥斯指出，“一带一路”不仅是对经贸合作，而且对社会的综合发展，以及包容理念的传输，都发挥了重要作用。加利西亚是进入大西洋的门户，可以在“一带一路”倡议实践中发挥很大的作用。

During the four panel sessions, nearly 30 scholars from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, Zhengzhou University, National University of Defense Technology, Shandong Jiaotong University, Guilin Federation of Social Sciences, as well as the University of Santiago de Compostela, Autonomous University of Barcelona, and Complutense University of Madrid, delivered thematic presentations and engaged in extensive discussions on topics such as the China Road issue, the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Europe cooperation, and a community with a shared future for mankind. Néstor Rego, Secretary-General of the Galician People’s Union, and Eva Solla, Secretary-General of the Communist Party of Galicia and Vice President of the Parliament of Galicia, attended the forum and delivered speeches. Deng Chundong, Party Secretary, President, and Researcher of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, finally summarized the conference.

在四个单元的发言中，来自中国社会科学院、山东社会科学院、郑州大学、国防科技大学、山东交通学院、桂林市社会科学界联合会，以及西班牙圣地亚哥-德-孔波斯特拉大学、巴塞罗那自治大学、马德里康普顿斯大学的近30名学者，围绕着中国道路问题、“一带一路”与中欧合作，人类命运共同体等问题进行了专题发言和广泛讨论。加利西亚人民联盟总书记纳斯托•瑞格，和加利西亚共产党总书记、加利西亚议会副主席艾娃•索亚，出席了本次论坛，并作了讲话。中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院党委书记、院长、研究员邓纯东，最后对会议进行了总结。

Outside the formal forum, President Deng Chundong also held a discussion with Eva Solla, Secretary-General of the Communist Party of Galicia and Vice President of the Parliament of Galicia.

在正式的论坛之外，邓纯东院长还与加利西亚共产党总书记、加利西亚议会副主席艾娃•索亚进行了座谈。
