On October 12, Dean and Party Secretary Deng Chundong Holds Talks with General Secretary of the Italian Communist Party Mauro Alboresi

On the morning of October 12, 2017, Deng Chundong, Dean and Party Secretary of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, along with four others, held talks in Rome with Mauro Alboresi, General Secretary of the Italian Communist Party.

Dean Deng Chundong and his delegation of five arrived at the headquarters of the Italian Communist Party and held talks with General Secretary Mauro Alboresi. Alboresi fully affirmed the achievements of socialism with Chinese characteristics, stating that the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics serves as an inspiration for European communist parties and a confirmation of the choice of the socialist path. Alboresi expressed his attention to and expectations for the 19th National Congress of the CPC [1]1 The 19th National Congress of the CPC was held in October 2017, at which Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era was enshrined in the Party Constitution., believing that the congress will certainly continue to adhere to the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics and trusting that China will, on the basis of its existing economic development, make further progress [2]2 “百尺竿头，更进一步” (bǎi chǐ gān tóu, gèng jìn yī bù) is a Chinese idiom meaning to make still further progress from an already high level of achievement.. During the talks, the two sides also conducted in-depth exchanges on issues of common concern, including the Italian Communist Party’s understanding of the role of the European Union, its expectations for EU reform, and its predictions for the EU’s prospects.

邓纯东院长一行五人来到意大利共产党总部，同意大利共产党总书记玛乌洛•阿尔伯莱西进行座谈。阿尔伯莱西充分肯定了中国特色社会主义所取得的成就，认为中国特色社会主义的发展对欧洲共产党而言，是一种激励，是对社会主义方向选择的确认。阿尔伯莱西表达了对中国共产党第十九次代表大会的关注与期待，认为大会必定会继续坚持走中国特色社会主义道路，相信中国会在已有发展经济基础上，百尺竿头，更进一步。会谈期间，双方还就共同关注的意大利共产党对欧盟作用的理解、对欧盟改革的期待以及对欧盟前景的预测等问题进行了深入交流。

Also participating in the talks were Li Chunhua, Researcher and Party Secretary of the Institute of Urban Development and Environment of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Xin Xiangyang, Deputy Director of the Institute of Information and Intelligence of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Professor Li Yan of the Institute of Basic Theory of Ideological and Political Education at Northeast Normal University; and Li Kaixuan of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

一同参加座谈的还有中国社会科学院城市发展与环境研究所党委书记李春华研究员、中国社会科学院信息情报院副院长辛向阳、东北师范大学思想政治教育基础理论研究所李艳教授、中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院李凯旋。
