On January 13, the unveiling ceremony of the Renmin University of China Research Institute for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the High-End Forum on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era were held in Beijing. This is one of ten research institutes for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era approved for establishment by the Party Central Committee. Two other such research institutes in higher education have been established at Peking University and Tsinghua University. Deng Chundong, Dean and Party Secretary of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences’ Institute of Marxism, was appointed a distinguished researcher of this research center and spoke at the unveiling ceremony. Respected leaders and comrades:
Today, the Renmin University of China Research Institute for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is officially established. This is a major event and a joyful occasion. As researchers in Marxist theory, we feel very pleased and express our heartfelt congratulations.
The 19th National Congress of the CPC [1] summarized the Party’s innovative theory as Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and established it as the guiding ideology that the Party must uphold for the long term. This marks another advance with the times in the Party’s guiding ideology and has great practical significance and far-reaching historical significance for China’s socialist modernization.
General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: “Both history and reality tell us that only socialism can save China, and only socialism with Chinese characteristics can develop China. This is the conclusion of history and the choice of the people.” [2] Socialism with Chinese characteristics is the theme of all the Party’s theory and practice since reform and opening up. Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era systematically answers the major question of our era: what kind of socialism with Chinese characteristics to uphold and develop in the New Era, and how to uphold and develop it. Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is a historic new leap in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context [3]; it is a powerful ideological weapon guiding our Party in carrying out the great struggle, building the great project, advancing the great cause, and realizing the great dream [4]; it is the guiding ideology that our Party must uphold for the long term.
Political firmness comes from theoretical maturity. Only by clearly understanding the spiritual essence and scientific connotation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era from a theoretical perspective can we better align with the Party Central Committee politically and better implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in practice. At the same time, to advance the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, we must also accurately understand and systematically grasp the connotation and spiritual essence of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. 尊敬的各位领导、各位同志：
今天，中国人民大学习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究院正式成立，这是一件大事，也是一件喜事，作为一名马克思主义理论的研究人员，我们感到十分高兴，我们表示由衷的祝贺。
党的十九大把党的创新理论概括为习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想，并确立为党必须长期坚持的指导思想。这标志着中国共产党在指导思想上的又一次与时俱进，这对于我国的社会主义现代化建设事业具有重大的现实意义和深远的历史意义。
习近平总书记指出：“历史和现实都告诉我们，只有社会主义才能救中国，只有中国特色社会主义才能发展中国，这是历史的结论、人民的选择。”中国特色社会主义是改革开放以来党的全部理论和实践的主题，习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想，系统回答了新时代我们坚持和发展什么样的中国特色社会主义、怎样坚持和发展中国特色社会主义这个重大时代课题。习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想是马克思主义中国化的历史性新飞跃，是指导我们党进行伟大斗争、建设伟大工程、推进伟大事业、实现伟大梦想的强大思想武器，是我们党必须长期坚持的指导思想。
政治上的坚定来自理论认识上的成熟，只有从理论上搞清楚习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的精神实质和科学内涵，才能在政治上更好地做到向党中央看齐，才能在实践中更好地贯彻执行习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想。同时，要把中国特色社会主义事业推向前进，也必须要准确理解和系统把握习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的内涵和精神实质。因此，学习研究宣传习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想就不仅仅是学术问题和思想理论问题，而且还是关系到坚持改革开放的正确方向，关系到中华民族伟大复兴的实践问题。理论界应承担起学习研究宣传习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的责任。
中国人民大学习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究院的成立，对于本校、全国高校乃至全国思想理论界深入学习研究习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想将能起到很好的示范、带动和引领作用。
我很荣幸被聘为母校习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究院的研究人员，这是一件很光荣的事情，也深感责任重大。在此，我向学术委员会承诺：
首先，本人要认真学好习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想，准确把握其精神实质、理论内涵。要放在马克思主义理论发展史的角度来学，要结合十八大以来党和国家所取得的历史性成就的角度来学。
其次，在研究工作中要做到理论联系实践，避免教条主义。力求在正确立场、观点、方法的指导下，把习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想理解清楚，不把真经念歪，多出高水平的研究成果。
最后，要加强习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的宣传工作。我所在的马克思主义研究院将通过各种国内、国际论坛、学术交流活动加强对习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的宣传，宣传不仅要有理论上的宣传，更有针对广大群众的科普式的宣传和教育工作。通过理论宣传，起到武装全党、教育人民、推动工作、影响世界的作用。今后，马研院也将与中国人民大学习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究院展开合作，大家携手共同努力，共同推进习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究的深入发展。
