May 22: “Fifth Forum on Development Strategies of China, Russia, and Central and Eastern European Countries” Held in Prague, Czech Republic

On May 22, 2018, the opening ceremony of the “Fifth Forum on Development Strategies of China, Russia, and Central and Eastern European Countries” and the seminar “National Development Strategies: China and the Czech Republic,” co-hosted by the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, were held at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. The Chinese delegation was led by Deng Chundong, President and Party Secretary of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Nearly 70 participants attended, including Chinese scholars from over 30 universities and research institutions—such as the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau, the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, the Guizhou Academy of Social Sciences, Tongji University, Shandong Normal University, Jiujiang University, Yichun University, East China University of Political Science and Law, and Dalian University of Technology—as well as foreign experts and scholars, including Martin Polívka, Vice-Rector of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, and Professor Pechikan, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management. President Deng Chundong presided over the opening ceremony, and leaders from both sides delivered speeches at the ceremony.

2018年5月22日，由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院与捷克布拉格生命科学大学联合主办的“第五届中国、俄罗斯、中东欧国家发展战略论坛”开幕式暨“国家发展战略：中国与捷克”研讨会在捷克布拉格生命科学大学举行。中方代表团由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院院长、党委书记邓纯东带队，来自中国社会科院马克思主义研究院、中央编译局、山东社会科学院、贵州省社会科学院、同济大学、山东师范大学、江西九江学院、宜春学院、华东政法大学、大连理工大学等30余所大学和科研院机构的中方学者及捷克布拉格生命科学大学副校长马丁·坡利卡、经济管理学院院长培力坎教授等外方专家学者近70人出席。邓纯东院长主持开幕式，双方领导在开幕式上分别致辞。

Speech by Deng Chundong, President and Party Secretary of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences

In his speech, President Deng Chundong first expressed gratitude to the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. He said that the Czech Republic is a beautiful country with a long history and culture, and that we, the scholars from China, gather here with great anticipation, hoping that this conference will be a success. First, we look forward to both sides’ scholars offering their insightful views on events that have an impact on the contemporary world; second, we hope that, through this forum as a vehicle, we can deepen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries’ governments and peoples.

邓纯东院长在致辞中首先对捷克布拉格生命科学大学表示感谢。他说，捷克是一个具有悠久历史文化的美丽国度，我们来自中国的学者怀着充满期待的心情在这里聚会，期待本次会议能够办好。一是期待我们双方学者能够对当代世界有影响的事件发表自己的真知灼见；二是希望通过以本次论坛为载体，加深两国政府和人民的友谊与合作。

The seminar was chaired by President Deng Chundong. Participating scholars engaged in extensive discussion around the theme. Researcher Zhang Shucun, President of the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences; Researcher Feng Yanli, Deputy Director of the Institute of Philosophy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Professor Li Aihua, School of Marxism, Shandong Normal University; and Professor Xu Chengfang, Deputy Dean of the School of Marxism, Dalian University of Technology, delivered plenary speeches on “The Responsibility of a Major Country in Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind,” “The Thought of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind and Its World Significance,” “On the Enhancement of China’s International Shaping Power,” and “On the New Worldview of the Report of the 19th National Congress of the CPC,” respectively. Martin Polívka, Vice-Rector of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague; Professor Rosso Mess, Faculty of Economics and Management, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague; František Rezek, Manager of Czech Telecom; and Martin Pat, Director of the Czech Investment Agency, delivered speeches on the Czech economy and the development of the Communist Party of the Czech Republic, and expressed hope for future multi-field exchanges and cooperation with China.
