On October 20, 2018, in order to promote academic exchange on Marxism, Jin Minqing, researcher and Vice President of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, led a delegation to visit the Institute of Marxism in Brussels, Belgium.

2018年10月20日，为了促进马克思主义的学术交流，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院副院长金民卿研究员率团访问了比利时布鲁塞尔的马克思主义研究所（the Institute of Marxism）。

After being expelled from France by the authorities in 1845, Marx moved to Brussels, the capital of Belgium, where he lived for more than three years until he was expelled by the Belgian authorities in early 1848. During this period, Marx successively wrote important works such as *Theses on Feuerbach* and *The German Ideology*, completed the establishment of historical materialism, and realized the important transformation from a revolutionary democrat to a communist, and from historical idealism to historical materialism. In the spring of 1846, Marx and Engels founded the Communist Correspondence Committee in Brussels, preparing ideologically and organizationally for the establishment of a proletarian revolutionary party.

1845年马克思被法国当局驱逐出境后，曾辗转来到比利时首都布鲁塞尔生活了3年多时间，直到1848年初被比利时当局驱逐出境。在此期间，马克思先后撰写了《关于费尔巴哈的提纲》和《德意志意识形态》等重要文献，完成了唯物史观的创立，实现了从革命民主主义者向共产主义者，从历史唯心主义到历史唯物主义的重要转变。1846年春，马克思和恩格斯在布鲁塞尔创建共产主义通迅委员会，从思想上和组织上为建立无产阶级革命政党进行了准备。

The delegation and the experts from the Institute of Marxism engaged in a lively discussion on the theme “The Current Situation and Challenges of Communist Parties in Europe.” Researcher Jin Minqing introduced the situation of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the development process of adapting Marxism to the Chinese context, and especially the major innovations of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the rich connotations of the New Era, and its worldwide significance.

访问团与马克思主义研究所的专家围绕“欧洲共产党的发展现状与挑战”进行了热烈的交谈。金民卿研究员介绍了中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院的情况，马克思主义中国化的发展历程，尤其是习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的重大创新、新时代的丰富内涵及世界性意义。

Masence Staquet, Director of the Institute of Marxism in Brussels, introduced the situation of Marxist research and training in Belgium. Jo Cottonier, a member of the Political Bureau of the Workers’ Party of Belgium, introduced the development of the Workers’ Party of Belgium. He pointed out that in recent years the Workers’ Party of Belgium has adopted some effective measures, which have led to an increase in the party’s vote share and parliamentary seats in many important cities and even nationwide in Belgium, with its influence showing an expanding trend.

布鲁塞尔的马克思主义研究所所长马森斯·斯塔凯（Masence Staquet）介绍了马克思主义在比利时研究、培训的情况。比利时工人党政治局委员乔·科特尼（Jo Cottonier）介绍了比利时工人党的发展情况。他指出，近年来比利时工人党采取了一些有力的举措，使得工人党在比利时的很多重要城市甚至全国的得票率和议席都有所增加，影响呈现扩大趋势。

The two sides discussed the challenges faced by European communist parties after the drastic changes in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe [1]1 The drastic changes in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe refer to the collapse of communist regimes in the Soviet Union and its Eastern Bloc satellite states between 1989 and 1991, leading to the dissolution of the USSR and the end of the Cold War., the exploration and major innovations of the Chinese Communist Party regarding the socialist market economy, and the prospects of the worldwide socialist movement in the New Era. The two sides also reached a preliminary intention for further exchange and cooperation in the future.

双方讨论了苏东剧变后欧洲共产党面临的挑战，中国共产党对社会主义市场经济的探索和重大创新，以及新时代全世界社会主义运动的前景等问题。双方还就今后进一步的交流合作达成了初步意向。

Participants from the Institute of Marxism in Brussels also included Tony Bussclen, Dominigue Meeüs, and Vincent Duthoy.
