February 22: Vice President Jin Minqing Receives Delegation of the Cypriot Progressive Party of Working People Cadre Study Group

On the afternoon of February 22, 2019, in Room 403 of the Administrative Building, Jin Minqing, Vice President of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Xin Xiangyang, Vice President of the Academy of Information and Intelligence, and Gong Yun, Executive Deputy Director of the Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, received a 12-member delegation of the Cypriot Progressive Party of Working People (AKEL) cadre study group, led by Central Committee member Michalakis Tsitsekkos.

2019年2月22日下午，在行政楼403室，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院副院长金民卿、信息情报院副院长辛向阳、习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究中心执行副主任龚云，接待了以中央委员米哈拉基斯·齐齐科斯（Michalakis Tsitsekkos）为团长的塞浦路斯劳动人民进步党（简称“劳进党”）干部考察团一行12人。

Cyprus is one of the most China-friendly countries within the European Union, and successive governments and all major political parties have attached great importance to developing relations with China. AKEL, founded in 1926, is currently an opposition party in Cyprus and the second-largest party in parliament.

塞浦路斯是欧盟内对华最友好的国家之一，历届政府和各主要政党均高度重视发展对华关系。劳进党成立于1926年，现为塞浦路斯在野党，议会第二大党。

Researchers Jin Minqing, Xin Xiangyang, and Gong Yun introduced to the study group the historical context of the emergence of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, its main content, and its major contributions to Marxism, covering these three aspects.

金民卿、辛向阳、龚云研究员分别围绕习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想产生的时代背景、主要内容、对马克思主义的重大贡献等三个方面的问题向考察团作了介绍。

Researcher Jin Minqing pointed out that China’s development over the past several decades is a miracle in world history, and the fundamental reason for its success lies in adhering to the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China. Without the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, such world-renowned achievements would not have been possible.

金民卿研究员指出，中国这几十年来的发展，是世界发展史上的一个奇迹，成功的根本在于坚持中国共产党的坚强领导。没有中国共产党的坚强领导，就不可能取得这样举世瞩目的成就。

Researcher Jin Minqing argued that the reason the Communist Party of China has achieved success in revolution, construction, and reform is that the Party continuously advances theoretical innovation and practical innovation. The Communist Party of China has an important characteristic in theoretical innovation: it both consistently adheres to the guidance of Marxism and continuously advances the innovative development of adapting Marxism to the Chinese context, based on new questions and new challenges raised by the times.

金民卿研究员认为，中国共产党之所以取得革命、建设、改革的成功，在于中国共产党不断推进理论创新、实践创新。中国共产党在理论创新上有一个重要特点，就是既始终坚持马克思主义指导，又不断根据时代提出的新问题新挑战，不断推进马克思主义中国化的创新发展。

Researcher Jin Minqing emphasized that General Secretary Xi Jinping has provided profound answers to four major contemporary questions: “Where is the world heading?”, “Where is socialism heading?”, “Where is contemporary China heading?”, and “Where is the Communist Party of China heading?”. These four questions converge before contemporary Chinese Communists as the question of “what kind of socialism with Chinese characteristics to uphold and develop, and how to uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics,” which is the core question of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

金民卿研究员强调，围绕“世界向何处去”、“社会主义向何处去”、“当代中国向何处去”、“中国共产党向何处去”这四个重大时代问题，习近平总书记做了深刻回答。这四个问题集中到当代中国共产党人面前，就是“坚持和发展什么样的中国特色社会主义、怎样坚持和发展中国特色社会主义”的问题，它是习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的核心问题。

Researcher Xin Xiangyang pointed out that Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era has rich connotations, and its main content is concentrated in the “Eight Clarifications” [1]1 The “Eight Clarifications” (八个明确) were a summary of the main components of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, as outlined in the report to the 19th National Congress of the CPC in 2017, covering topics such as the overall goal, principal contradiction, and overall layout of socialism with Chinese characteristics., covering the overall goal, overall tasks, principal contradiction, overall layout, strategic layout, development direction, development mode, development momentum, strategic steps, external conditions, and political guarantee of upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics in the New Era, forming a logically rigorous theoretical system.

辛向阳研究员指出，习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想具有丰富的内涵，其主要内容集中表现在“八个明确”上，涵盖了新时代坚持和发展中国特色社会主义的总目标、总任务、主要矛盾、总体布局、战略布局和发展方向、发展方式、发展动力、战略步骤、外部条件、政治保证等基本问题，是一个逻辑严密的理论体系。

Researcher Gong Yun pointed out that Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era has made original contributions to Marxist philosophy, scientific socialism, and political economy, opening up new realms of Marxism, new realms of socialism with Chinese characteristics, new realms of governance, and new realms of Party management and governance.

龚云研究员指出，习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想对马克思主义哲学、科学社会主义、政治经济学都做出了原创性贡献，开辟了马克思主义新境界、中国特色社会主义新境界、治国理政新境界、管党治党新境界。

Tsitsekkos expressed deep agreement with many important viewpoints of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. He pointed out that although Marxism was founded over 100 years ago, it still has important guiding significance for the present, and AKEL has always adhered to the guidance of Marxism. He emphasized that Marxist theory must be combined with practice, must proceed from the actual conditions of each country, must be based on the needs of the people, and must promote better future development for the working class and working people.

齐齐科斯对习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的很多重要观点深表赞同。他指出，虽然马克思主义创立于100多年前，但对当前仍具有重要的指导意义，塞浦路斯劳进党始终坚持以马克思主义为指导。他强调，马克思主义理论必须和实践相结合，必须从各个国家的实际情况出发，立足人民群众的需求，推动工人阶级和劳动人民在未来有更好的发展。
