On January 18, the Academy of Marxism Held Its 2020 Annual Work Meeting

On January 18, the Academy of Marxism held its 2020 annual work meeting, conveying, studying, and implementing the spirit of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences 2020 annual work meeting and the meeting on comprehensive and strict governance of the Party and strengthening Party building. It summarized the Academy of Marxism’s work in 2019 and deployed work for 2020. Party Secretary Fan Jianxin presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. Vice Presidents Xin Xiangyang and Jia Chaoning attended. Directors of each research department and research office, along with all staff members, participated.

1月18日，马克思主义研究院召开2020年度工作会议，传达学习贯彻中国社会科学院2020年度工作会议暨全面从严治党加强党的建设工作会议精神，总结马研院2019年工作，部署2020年工作。党委书记樊建新主持会议并讲话，副院长辛向阳、贾朝宁出席，各研究部、研究室主任和全体工作人员参加。

Fan Jianxin conveyed the work report delivered by Xie Fuzhan, President and Party Secretary of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, at the CASS 2020 annual work meeting. President Xie Fuzhan’s report comprehensively summarized all work of CASS in 2019 from ten aspects, including: the study, research, and interpretation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era continued to deepen; the Party’s ideological positions were continuously consolidated; the establishment of the Chinese Academy of History and the China-Africa Institute was successfully completed; the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences remained stable and improving; academic activities celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China were full of highlights; the level of service to the overall work of the Party and the state was significantly enhanced; the construction of the “three major systems” [1] took solid steps; the construction of the talent team reached a new level; international academic exchanges were extensive and deep; management service guarantee capabilities were significantly strengthened; and Party building was comprehensively strengthened. President Xie Fuzhan’s report deployed work for 2020 from nine aspects, emphasizing the need to demonstrate new achievements in studying, researching, and interpreting Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; building a socialist ideology with strong cohesion and guiding force; accelerating the construction of the “three major systems” of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics; building a national high-end think tank; properly managing the Chinese Academy of History, the China-Africa Institute, and the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; building a highland for philosophy and social sciences talent; disseminating Chinese thought; strengthening management service guarantees; and comprehensive and strict governance of the Party.

樊建新传达了中国社会科学院院长、党组书记谢伏瞻在中国社科院2020年度工作会议上的工作报告。谢伏瞻院长的报告从十个方面全面总结了2019年中国社科院各项工作，包括：学习研究阐释习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想持续深入，党的意识形态阵地不断巩固，中国历史研究院和中国非洲研究院组建工作顺利完成、中国社会科学院大学稳中向好，庆祝新中国成立70周年学术活动亮点纷呈，服务党和国家大局水平显著提升，“三大体系”建设迈出坚实步伐，人才队伍建设跃上新台阶，国际学术交流广泛深入，管理服务保障能力显著增强，党的建设全面加强。谢伏瞻院长的报告从九个方面对2020年工作进行部署，强调要在学习研究阐释习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想，建设具有强大凝聚力和引领力的社会主义意识形态，加快构建中国特色哲学社会科学“三大体系”，建设国家高端智库，办好中国历史研究院、中国非洲研究院和中国社会科学院大学，建设哲学社会科学人才高地，传播中国思想，强化管理服务保障和全面从严治党等方面展现新作为。

Xin Xiangyang conveyed the work report on comprehensive and strict governance of the Party and strengthening Party building delivered by Wang Jingqing, Vice President and Deputy Party Secretary of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In 2019, CASS adhered to taking the Party’s political construction as the guide, resolutely achieving the Two Upholds; strengthened theoretical armament, continuously deeply studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; strengthened the political responsibility for managing the Party and governing it strictly, forging strong and powerful grassroots Party organizations; clarified morality and rectified discipline and conduct, promoting a good academic ecology in the field of philosophy and social sciences and achieving new results in CASS’s supervision and discipline enforcement work; adhered to ideological and political guidance, promoting new achievements in CASS’s united front and mass organization work. In 2020, it is necessary to focus on the requirements of the Party Central Committee for CASS’s role and responsibilities, promote high-quality development of Party building, build a model organization that reassures the Party Central Committee and satisfies the people, and provide a strong guarantee for advancing the adaptation of Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times and its popularization, accelerating the construction of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics, and strengthening the construction of high-end think tanks with Chinese characteristics.

辛向阳传达了中国社会科学院副院长、党组副书记王京清关于全面从严治党加强党的建设的工作报告。2019年，中国社会科学院坚持以党的政治建设为统领，坚决做到“两个维护”；强化理论武装，持续深入学习贯彻习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想；强化管党治党政治责任，锻造坚强有力的基层党组织；明道德正风纪，推动哲学社会科学领域良好学术生态和中国社会科学院监督执纪工作取得新成效；坚持思想和政治引领，推动中国社会科学院统战和群团工作取得新成绩。2020年，要围绕党中央对中国社会科学院的职责定位要求，推动党的建设高质量发展，建设让党中央放心、让人民群众满意的模范机关，为推进马克思主义中国化时代化大众化、加快构建中国特色哲学社会科学、加强中国特色高端智库建设，提供坚强保证。

Jia Chaoning conveyed the spirit of the speech by Yang Xiaoshan, head of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission’s discipline inspection and supervision team stationed at CASS and a member of the CASS Party Leadership Group. He reported six typical cases of Party cadres and members openly violating the spirit of the Eight-Point Regulations, investigated and dealt with by relevant departments of central and state organs. He emphasized the need to further strengthen discipline construction, enhance discipline awareness and rule awareness, implement the spirit of the Eight-Point Regulations, strictly enforce various regulations on financial reimbursement, and celebrate a clean and upright Spring Festival.

贾朝宁传达了中央纪委国家监委驻中国社会科学院纪检监察组组长、党组成员杨笑山的讲话精神，通报了中央和国家机关有关部门查处的6起党员干部顶风违反中央八项规定精神的典型问题，强调要进一步加强纪律建设，增强纪律意识和规矩意识，贯彻落实中央八项规定精神，严格财务报销各项规定，过一个风清气正的春节。

At the meeting, Fan Jianxin, on behalf of the leadership team of the Academy of Marxism, summarized all work in 2019 and put forward specific requirements for implementing the spirit of the CASS 2020 annual work meeting and the meeting on comprehensive and strict governance of the Party and strengthening Party building. He emphasized that in 2020, the Academy of Marxism will take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as its guide, implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC and the Second, Third, and Fourth Plenary Sessions of the 19th Central Committee [2], take General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech on May 17, 2016 [3] and three congratulatory letters

会上，樊建新代表马研院领导班子总结了2019年各项工作，并就贯彻落实中国社会科学院2020年度工作会议暨全面从严治党加强党的建设工作会议精神提出具体要求。强调，2020年，马研院将以习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想为指导，贯彻落实党的十九大和十九届二中、三中、四中全会精神，以习近平总书记“5.17”重要讲话和致中国社科院三次贺信为根本遵循，增强“四个意识”，坚定“四个自信”，做到“两个维护”，认真落实中国社科院2020年度工作会议精神和院党组的重大决策部署，当好马克思主义研究的“国家队”，着重抓好以下工作：一是深入学习研究宣传阐释习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想和党的十九届四中全会精神，紧紧围绕中心工作加强党的建设；二是推进“三大体系”建设，完成研究部、研究室、编辑部和学科人员调整，进一步加强学科平台和学科品牌建设，着力增强学术力、思想力、影响力；三是抓重点项目，出精品成果，做好中央和院党组交办的各项任务，完成所级重要研究任务；四是不断打造创新工程升级版，整合创新项目；五是加强智库建设，发挥资政建言作用；六是做好习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究中心和世界社会主义研究中心各项工作，健全“三办”协调处人员配置；七是加强期刊网络年鉴工作，狠抓文章质量和编辑质量；八是加强内部建设，健全各项工作制度，用更加完善更加成熟的制度管人管事，强化纪律执行，建设风清气正、团结和谐、坚强有力的政治机关；九是做好后勤保障、工青妇和老干部等工作。

The meeting emphasized that the Institute of Marxism must, in accordance with the requirements of a political organ, take a clear stand on politics, strengthen awareness of discipline and responsibility, strictly enforce Party discipline, especially political discipline and political rules, and conscientiously implement the relevant decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the Party Leadership Group of the Academy, striving to write a new chapter in Marxist research in the New Era. The meeting particularly stressed the need to doubly cherish the favorable atmosphere for Marxist research and jointly safeguard the reputation of the Marxist theoretical circles and the Institute of Marxism.

会议强调，马研院要按照政治机关的要求，旗帜鲜明讲政治，增强纪律意识和责任意识，严明党的纪律特别是政治纪律和政治规矩，认真贯彻党中央、院党组有关决策部署，奋力书写新时代马克思主义研究的新篇章。会议特别强调，要倍加珍惜马克思主义研究的良好氛围，共同维护马克思主义理论界和马研院的声誉。

The meeting also announced the list of winners of the Tenth (2019) Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Award and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Outstanding Countermeasure Information Award, calling on researchers, especially young researchers, to produce more high-quality results, continuously improve the quality of their research, strive to win higher awards, and win more honors for the Institute of Marxism.

会议还通报了第十届（2019年）中国社会科学院优秀科研成果奖和中国社科院优秀对策信息奖获奖名单，号召科研人员特别是青年科研人员多出精品成果，不断提高科研质量，努力获得更高奖项，为马研院争取更多荣誉。
