On the Morning of October 9, the Leadership of the Academy of Marxism Met with the Cuban Ambassador to China

On the morning of October 9, 2023, Xin Xiangyang, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Academy of Marxism (hereinafter referred to as the Academy), met with a delegation led by Alberto Blanco Silva, Cuban Ambassador to China, at the Academy. Lin Jianhua, Vice President of the Academy, presided over the meeting. Lin Jianhua welcomed Ambassador Blanco Silva and his delegation and provided the Ambassador with a detailed introduction to the functional positioning of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the history of the Academy’s founding, its institutional setup, platform construction, and talent team building, as well as the integrated development of scientific research and education between the Academy and the School of Marxism of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, including disciplinary construction and talent cultivation.

2023年10月9日上午，马研院党委书记、院长辛向阳在马研院会见古巴驻华大使白诗德一行，马研院副院长林建华主持会见。林建华对白诗德大使一行的到访表示欢迎，并向大使详细介绍了中国社会科学院的功能定位，马研院的创办历史、机构设置、平台建设、人才队伍建设等情况，马研院与社科大马学院的科教融合一体化建设发展、学科建设、人才培养等情况。

Ambassador Blanco Silva expressed his pleasure and honor at visiting the Academy. The Ambassador first briefly reviewed the history of development between China and Cuba, emphasizing his belief that the socialist system is indestructible. He highly praised the Chinese Communist Party’s ability to adapt Marxist theory to the Chinese context and its capacity to promote the Party’s self-building, affirming China’s important theoretical and practical contributions to promoting global development. The Ambassador compared the similar experiences and policy propositions of the leaders of China and Cuba and shared his experiences of interacting with President Xi Jinping. The Ambassador proposed that he hopes to engage in in-depth exchanges with scholars from the Academy on topics such as the development experience of small and medium-sized enterprises and the internationalization of the renminbi, and also expressed a desire for more direct and in-depth exchanges and cooperation with the Academy’s Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

白诗德大使对访问马研院表示高兴和荣幸。大使首先通过简单回顾中古两国发展历史，强调认为社会主义制度不可摧毁。他高度评价了中国共产党将马克思主义理论中国化本土化的能力及推动党的自身建设的能力，肯定了中国在推动全球发展方面所作出的理论和实践的重要贡献。大使对比了中古两国领导人的相似经历和政策主张，分享了自己和习近平主席交往的经历。大使提出，希望接下来能与马研院学者围绕中小企业发展经验、人民币国际化等问题进行深入交流，并希望与我院习近平新时代中国特色社会主义研究中心有更加直接、深入的交流与合作。

Xin Xiangyang welcomed Ambassador Blanco Silva and his delegation to the Academy, stating that he feels a great affinity for the Cuban comrades. Xin Xiangyang pointed out that the socialist construction of both China and Cuba has been ongoing for a long time, each with its own characteristics, yet also sharing common features. China’s socialist construction, especially since reform and opening up and entering the New Era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, has accumulated several important experiences: consistently emphasizing adherence to the Party’s overall leadership, consistently emphasizing theoretical innovation, consistently adhering to the people-centered development philosophy, consistently insisting on pioneering and innovation, and consistently upholding a global vision and emphasizing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Xin Xiangyang stressed that the Academy should further strengthen its connections and exchanges with communist parties of various countries and progressive individuals who adhere to Marxism, jointly promoting the substantial development of the socialist cause.

辛向阳对白诗德大使一行到访马研院表示欢迎，表示对古巴的同志感到很亲切。辛向阳指出，中古两国的社会主义建设都进行了很长时间，有各自的特点，同时也有共同的特征。中国的社会主义建设，特别是改革开放及进入中国特色社会主义新时代以来，积累了几条重要经验，即始终强调坚持党的全面领导，始终强调理论创新，始终坚持以人民为中心的发展理念，始终坚持开拓创新，始终坚持胸怀天下、强调构建人类命运共同体。辛向阳强调，马研院要进一步加强同各国共产党、坚持马克思主义的进步人士等的联系和交流，共同推动社会主义事业的长足发展。

The meeting was attended by Mario Alzugaray Rodríguez, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Cuban Embassy in China; Javier Navarro Quiñones, First Secretary of the Cuban Embassy in China; Gao Hong, interpreter; Chen Zhigang, Vice President of the Academy; and He Qin, Director of the Research Office.
