The Academy of Marxism Holds a Symposium with the World Communist Theoretical Cadres Delegation

On the morning of June 4, 2024, Xin Xiangyang, President of the Academy of Marxism, organized and hosted a visit by the World Communist Theoretical Cadres Delegation, invited to China by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and arranged a symposium for exchange. The World Communist Theoretical Cadres Delegation was led by Nader Chowdhury, Joint General Secretary of the National Socialist Party of Bangladesh, and consisted of 20 Communist Party leaders and young and middle-aged theorists from 18 countries, including Denmark, Moldova, the United Kingdom, and Chile. The delegation and relevant experts and scholars from the Academy of Marxism engaged in fruitful exchanges centered on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the global significance of Chinese-path modernization, and other issues concerning the world socialist movement.

2024年6月4日上午，马克思主义研究院院长辛向阳组织接待应中共中央对外联络部邀请来华的世界共产党理论干部考察团来访并安排座谈交流。世界共产党理论干部考察团由孟加拉国民族社会党联合总书记纳德尔·乔杜里率领，成员由来自丹麦、摩尔多瓦、英国、智利等18个国家的20位共产党领导人及中青年理论家组成。考察团与马克思主义研究院有关专家学者围绕习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想、中国式现代化的世界意义，以及其他有关世界社会主义运动问题展开了富有成效的交流。

The symposium was chaired by Lin Jianhua, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission and Vice President of the Academy of Marxism. Lin Jianhua welcomed the visit of Head of Delegation Nader Chowdhury and the delegation, and gave a brief introduction to the Academy of Marxism. In his address, Head of Delegation Chowdhury stated that changes unseen in a century require greater political wisdom and call for all humanity to join hands to face the future and share the future together. Therefore, he sincerely appealed to all members of the delegation to cherish this rare opportunity to gather together in China, engage in in-depth exchanges on theoretical innovation and practical experience, and bring what they have seen and heard in China back to their home countries to share with comrades dedicated to realizing the communist ideal.

座谈会由马克思主义研究院纪委书记、副院长林建华主持。林建华欢迎纳德尔·乔杜里团长及考察团的到访，并对马研院概况进行了简要介绍。乔杜里团长在致辞中表示，百年未有之大变局需要更高的政治智慧，需要全人类携手面向未来、共享未来。因此，他由衷地向各位考察团成员发出呼吁，珍惜此次难得在华共聚一堂的机会，深入交流理论创新与实践经验，将在中国的所见所闻带回国内，与致力于实现共产主义理想的同志们分享。

President Xin Xiangyang delivered a keynote report titled “The Blueprint of Chinese-Path Modernization and a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind,” which resonated with the delegation members and was repeatedly interrupted by applause. Xin Xiangyang stated that Chinese-path modernization is an important component of world modernization, and in the process of addressing a series of modernization challenges facing humanity, it promotes the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. The goal of Chinese-path modernization by 2050 has threefold world-historical significance: the path to building a strong socialist country, the path to promoting the vigorous development of world Marxism, and the path to redrawing the global map of modernization. Chinese-path modernization resolves the so-called “Huntington paradox,” [1]1 A reference to the political scientist Samuel P. Huntington’s argument that modernization can be a destabilizing process, often summarized as a tension between modernity (stability) and modernization (upheaval). which holds that modernity implies stability while modernization implies instability, and by creating a new civilization of the human market and a new civilization of human industry, it significantly enhances China’s national cultural soft power. Finally, Xin Xiangyang quoted a passage from General Secretary Xi Jinping’s keynote speech at the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting on March 15, 2023, to summarize the blueprint of Chinese-path modernization and its global significance: “Chinese-path modernization is based on our own national conditions while drawing on the experience of other countries; it inherits historical culture while integrating modern civilization; it benefits the Chinese people while promoting common development in the world. It is the broad road to building a strong country and achieving national rejuvenation, and it is also the inevitable path for China to seek human progress and world harmony.” [2]2 This is a direct quotation from Xi Jinping’s speech at the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting on March 15, 2023.

辛向阳院长作了题为“中国式现代化蓝图与人类命运共同体“的主题报告，引起考察团成员共鸣，多次被掌声打断。辛向阳表示，中国式现代化是世界现代化的重要组成部分，它在回答一系列人类面临的现代化难题中推动人类命运共同体的构建。中国式现代化2050年的目标具有三重世界性历史意义，即建设社会主义强国的道路、推动世界马克思主义蓬勃发展的道路和改写世界现代化版图的道路。中国式现代化破解了所谓的现代性意味着稳定、而现代化意味着动荡的“亨廷顿悖论”等难题，通过创造人类市场新文明、人类工业新文明，显著增强中国国家文化软实力。最后，辛向阳引用习近平总书记在2023年3月15日中国共产党与世界政党高层对话会上的主旨讲话中的一段话，对中国式现代化的蓝图及其世界意义进行总结：中国式现代化既基于自身国情、又借鉴各国经验，既传承历史文化、又融合现代文明，既造福中国人民、又促进世界共同发展，是我们强国建设、民族复兴的康庄大道，也是中国谋求人类进步、世界大同的必由之路。

Dai Lixing, Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the Research Department of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, delivered a keynote report titled “The Global Significance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.” He argued that Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, in answering the major epochal question of “what kind of socialism with Chinese characteristics to uphold and develop in the New Era and how to uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics,” deepens the understanding of the laws of socialist construction and raises high the banner of socialism in the world; in answering the major epochal question of “what kind of strong modern socialist country to build and how to build a strong modern socialist country,” it deepens the understanding of the laws of socialist modernization construction and provides the world with a new path to explore modernization; in answering the major epochal question of “what kind of long-term governing Marxist party to build and how to build a long-term governing Marxist party,” it opens up a new realm of Marxist governing party construction and provides Chinese experience, Chinese wisdom, and Chinese solutions for the development of world party politics.

习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究部副主任戴立兴研究员作了题为“习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的世界意义“的主题报告。他认为，习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想在回答“新时代坚持和发展什么样的中国特色社会主义、怎样坚持和发展中国特色社会主义”的重大时代课题中，深化了对社会主义建设规律的认识，在世界上高高举起了社会主义的旗帜；在回答“建设什么样的社会主义现代化强国、怎样建设社会主义现代化强国”的重大时代课题中，深化了社会主义现代化建设规律的认识，为世界探索实现现代化的新道路；在回答“建设什么样的长期执政的马克思主义政党、怎样建设长期执政的马克思主义政党”的重大时代课题中，开辟了马克思主义执政党建设的新境界，为世界政党政治发展提供了中国经验、中国智慧、中国方案。

During the exchange and discussion session, Comrade Luis Galarreta from the Communist Party of Peru (Red Fatherland) raised related questions on three aspects: changes in China’s social strata and the principal social contradiction, ideological work and Marxist education, and how to view the development of artificial intelligence from a Marxist perspective. President Xin Xiangyang, Vice President Lin Jianhua, and Research Fellow Zhang Jianyun from the Department of Marxist Principles provided frank, concise, and theoretically profound responses to the above questions, combining them with concrete realities.

在交流讨论环节，来自秘鲁共产党（红色祖国）的路易斯·加拉特同志围绕中国社会阶层与主要社会矛盾变化，意识形态工作与马克思主义教育，以及如何从马克思主义角度看待人工智能的发展等三个方面，提出了相关问题。辛向阳院长、林建华副院长和马克思主义原理部张建云研究员分别就以上问题结合具体实际进行了坦率、扼要且富有理论深度的回应。

Vice President Lin Jianhua quoted the Tang Dynasty poet Wang Bo’s verse, “If you have friends who know your heart, distance cannot keep you apart,” [3]3 From the poem “Farewell to Vice-Prefect Du on His Way to the Post in Shu” by Wang Bo (c. 650–676), a famous Tang Dynasty poet. The line expresses that true friendship transcends geographical distance. affirming the friendship gained by all parties through this exchange and expressing the hope that Communist Party members and theorists from various countries will continue to maintain close exchanges and ties with our Academy.

林建华副院长引用唐代诗人王勃的诗句“海内存知己，天涯若比邻”，肯定与会各方通过此次交流收获的友谊，表达对各国共产党人和理论家与我院继续保持密切交流联系的愿望。

Vice President of the Academy of Marxism Yu Haiqing, along with researchers He Xinyuan, Sun Yingshuai, He Qin, Liu Ailing, Wang Xuedong, Li Kaixuan, and Lou Yu (who provided Spanish interpretation services), jointly participated in this exchange activity. Relevant responsible comrades from the Research Office of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and the International Cooperation Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences also attended this symposium.
