The Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Holds a Youth Work Symposium

On the afternoon of June 6, 2024, the Youth Work Symposium of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was held in Conference Room 1345 of the Institute of Marxism. The meeting centered on youth needs and suggestions for youth work. Luo Wendong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Institute of Marxism, attended and delivered an address, offering guiding opinions and development suggestions on youth work. The symposium was divided into stages of address, speeches, and summary, presided over respectively by Researcher Yang Jing, head of the Youth Work Group; Associate Researcher Lei Xiaohuan, deputy head of the Youth Work Group; and Associate Researcher Fang Tao, head of the Youth Group. Nearly 50 people, including the Youth Work Group and youth representatives from various departments, attended the meeting.

2024年6月6日下午，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院青年工作座谈会在马研院1345会议室召开。此次会议围绕青年需求和青年工作建议展开，马研院党委书记罗文东出席致辞，并就青年工作提出指导意见和发展建议。座谈会分致辞、发言、总结阶段，分别由青年工作组组长杨静研究员、青年工作组副组长雷晓欢副研究员和青年小组长方涛副研究员主持。青年工作组及各部门青年代表近50人参加会议。

I. Youth Party Discipline Study and Education and Requirements for Youth Work

一、青年党纪学习教育与青年工作要求

In the first stage of the meeting, Secretary Luo Wendong delivered an address. In his address, Secretary Luo Wendong mobilized youth for Party discipline study and education. He pointed out that it is necessary to raise the political stance, ensure the effectiveness of study, and pay attention to propaganda and guidance. He also put forward three requirements for youth work: first, to focus on the education and cultivation of young people; second, to effectively carry out youth work in conjunction with the construction of the Institute of Marxism; third, to strengthen investigation and research.

会议第一阶段，罗文东书记致辞。在致辞中，罗文东书记作青年党纪学习教育动员，他指出，要提高政治站位、保证学习实效、注重宣传引导，并就青年工作提出三点要求：一是要注重青年人的教育和培养，二是要结合马研院建设有效开展青年工作，三是要加强调查研究。

II. Youth Needs and Suggestions for Youth Work

二、青年需求和青年工作建议

In the second stage of the meeting, 22 youth representatives from the Institute of Marxism spoke, mainly focusing on aspects such as the youth scientific research community, project funding, publication of papers and internal reports [1]1 "Internal reports" (要报, yàobào) are briefings submitted to higher-level Party or government bodies for decision-making reference, a standard genre in Chinese research institutions., investigation and research, integration of science and education, and physical and mental health. For example, regarding the youth scientific research community, some young people proposed establishing "mutual aid groups between seniors and juniors," a youth mentorship system, and professional external propaganda teams; regarding project funding, some young people expressed hope that projects could be tilted toward youth during the project approval process; and so on. In addition, young people also spoke and offered suggestions on issues such as the professional title evaluation system, balancing personal and family life, balancing editorial work and scientific research work, and the construction of youth academic style and writing style.

会议第二阶段，马研院的22位青年代表发言，主要围绕青年科研共同体、项目资助、论文和要报发表、调查研究、科教融合、身心健康等方面展开。如关于青年科研共同体，部分青年提出建立“前辈与后辈互助组”、青年导师制、专业外宣队伍；关于项目资助，部分青年提出希望项目立项时可以向青年倾斜；等等。此外，青年还围绕职称评定工作、个人与家庭平衡、编辑工作和科研工作平衡、青年学风文风作风建设等问题进行发言和建议。

III. Hopes and Suggestions for Youth Development

In the third stage of the meeting, Secretary Luo Wendong, based on youth needs and suggestions, expressed hopes for youth work and put forward suggestions: first, young people must continuously improve their ideological and political quality; second, young people must engage in organized scientific research; third, young people must strive to exert their own subjective initiative; fourth, young people must go out to conduct good investigation and research and good exchanges; fifth, young people must actively participate in national-level academic societies and associations. He finally stated that the Party Committee of the Institute of Marxism, the leadership team of the Institute of Marxism, and the Youth Work Group of the Institute of Marxism will further study the suggestions put forward by young people, implement the guiding spirit of the Party Group of the Academy [2]2 "Party Group of the Academy" (院党组) refers to the leading Party members' group within the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, which exercises leadership over the institution's political and administrative work. in concrete measures to give young people more support, and solve some of their practical needs and difficulties.

会议第三阶段，罗文东书记根据青年需求和青年建议，对青年工作寄予希望并提出建议：一是青年要不断提高思想政治素质；二是青年要做有组织的科研；三是青年要努力发挥自身主观能动性；四是青年要走出去做好调研、做好交流；五是青年要积极参与全国性学会和社团。他最后表示，马研院党委、马研院领导班子和马研院青年工作组将进一步研究青年提出的建议，在具体举措方面贯彻落实院党组的指示精神给予青年更多支持，解决青年一些实际需求和困难问题。

IV. Vision for Youth Work in 2024

四、2024年青年工作设想

In the fourth stage of the meeting, Researcher Yang Jing, head of the Youth Work Group, delivered a concluding speech and put forward a vision for youth work in 2024. Researcher Yang Jing pointed out that, in the future, under the guidance and support of Secretary Luo Wendong, the Youth Work Group will continuously improve its work based on youth needs and suggestions, and do a good job of assisting and serving in terms of "building ladders, providing platforms, and addressing needs." Regarding the vision for youth work in 2024, Researcher Yang Jing pointed out that in 2024, first, the "Social Perspective" youth academic salon will continue to be held to strengthen academic exchanges within and outside the Institute and between departments; second, the "Social Perspective" youth investigation and research activities will continue to be carried out to let young people go down to the grassroots and stay grounded; third, the "United Hearts · Youth in Action" activity will be initiated to jointly promote youth growth.
