The 11th Forum on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the 14th Academic Forum on Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context Successfully Convened

To implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee, and to deepen research on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, on 19 October 2024, the 11th Forum on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the 14th Academic Forum on Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context, co-hosted by the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Shaanxi Normal University, convened in Xi’an. The forum’s theme was “Advancing the Systematic and Theoretical Research on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.” More than 90 experts and scholars from over 80 universities and research institutions nationwide, including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, Nankai University, Fudan University, East China Normal University, Zhejiang University, Wuhan University, Shaanxi Normal University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Yunnan University, Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, and Hebei Academy of Social Sciences, as well as from over ten newspaper and journal units such as *People’s Daily*, *Studies on Marxism*, *Journal of Ideological and Theoretical Education*, and *World Socialism Studies*, participated.

为贯彻落实党的二十大和二十届三中全会精神、深化习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的研究，2024年10月19日，由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院与陕西师范大学联合主办的第十一届习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想论坛暨第十四届马克思主义中国化学术论坛在西安召开。论坛主题为“推进习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的体系化学理化研究”。来自中国社会科学院、北京大学、清华大学、中国人民大学、北京师范大学、南开大学、复旦大学、华东师范大学、浙江大学、武汉大学、陕西师范大学、西安交通大学、云南大学、云南社会科学院、河北社会科学院等全国80余所高校和科研单位，以及《人民日报》《马克思主义研究》《思想理论教育导刊》《世界社会主义研究》等10余家报刊单位的90余名专家学者参会。

The forum was divided into five segments: the opening ceremony, the first stage of expert keynote speeches, breakout forum sessions, the second stage of expert speeches, and the closing ceremony.

论坛分为开幕式、第一阶段大会专家主旨发言、分论坛发言、第二阶段大会专家发言、闭幕式五个环节。

At the opening ceremony, Luo Yonghui, Deputy Party Secretary of Shaanxi Normal University; Xin Xiangyang, Dean of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Li Qianbo, Vice Chair of the Shaanxi Provincial Federation of Social Sciences; and Luo Jun, Deputy Director of the Theory Division of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Department, successively delivered addresses. Luo Yonghui, on behalf of Shaanxi Normal University, welcomed the scholars. She introduced the university’s 80-year history of operation, the development of its School of Marxism, and the discipline of Marxist theory, and expressed her hope that the conference would become a grand event for academic exchange. Researcher Xin Xiangyang, Dean of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, in his address, briefly introduced the historical evolution of the “Forum on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” and the “Academic Forum on Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context,” and delivered a keynote speech on three fundamental issues concerning the systematic and theoretical research on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Xin Xiangyang pointed out: The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee was an important meeting convened at a critical juncture in comprehensively advancing the building of a strong country and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-path modernization. It has milestone significance, deepened the understanding of the laws of the Party’s theoretical innovation, further clarified the orientation, direction, and methods of theoretical innovation, and formed a series of new ideas, new viewpoints, and new conclusions on comprehensively deepening reform. The theoretical community should undertake the task of deepening research on the “reform chapter” of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and should provide systematic and theoretical explanations for the major contemporary issue of “why to comprehensively deepen reform and how to comprehensively deepen reform.”

开幕式上，陕西师范大学党委副书记罗永辉、中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院院长辛向阳、陕西省社科联副主席李谫博、陕西省委宣传部理论处副处长罗军先后致辞。罗永辉代表陕西师范大学欢迎学者们的到来。她介绍了陕西师范大学建校80年来的办学情况和马克思主义学院、马克思主义理论学科的发展情况，并预祝大会成为学术交流的盛会。中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院院长辛向阳研究员在致辞中简要介绍了“习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想论坛”和“马克思主义中国化学术论坛”的历史演进，就习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的体系化学理化研究三个基本问题进行主旨发言。辛向阳指出：二十届三中全会是在以中国式现代化全面推进强国建设、民族复兴伟业的关键时期召开的一次重要会议，具有里程碑意义，深化了对党的理论创新的规律性认识，进一步明确理论创新的方位、方向、方法，形成了全面深化改革的一系列新思想、新观点、新论断。理论界应当承担起深化对习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的“改革篇章”的研究，应当对“为什么要全面深化改革、怎样全面深化改革”这个重大时代课题进行体系化学理化阐释。

The conference was divided into four breakout forums, with topics as follows: “Theoretical Elucidation of the Principles of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era,” “New Theories and New Practices in Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context and the Needs of the Times,” “Further Comprehensively Deepening Reform,” and “Theoretical Research on Chinese-Path Modernization.” Scholar speeches were divided into designated speeches and free speeches.

At the closing ceremony, each breakout forum selected one scholar representative to briefly introduce the viewpoints and exchange results of the scholars in their respective forums at the main venue. Researcher Dai Lixing, Deputy Director of the Research Department on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era at the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered a concluding speech. He pointed out that this forum featured a diverse and broad range of participants, cutting-edge and focused research topics, and a lively conference atmosphere, yielding rich research outcomes.

The forum had a high purpose, a broad framework, and wide coverage, providing an excellent platform for academic exchange and mutual learning for scholars.
