Theoretical Symposium on Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and Studying and Implementing the Spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC Held at Soochow University

To deeply study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, and to review and summarize the development process, main achievements, and experiential insights of the Party and the state since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, on November 2, the Theoretical Symposium on Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and Studying and Implementing the Spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC was held at the Tianci Village Campus of Soochow University. The conference was jointly sponsored by the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Soochow University, and co-organized by the Ministry of Education National Base for Teacher Training in Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Higher Education Institutions (Soochow University), the Jiangsu Provincial Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era Soochow University Base, the Jiangsu Provincial Marxist Theory Discipline Alliance, the Soochow University Philosophy and Social Sciences Federation, the National Higher Education Institution Ideological and Political Course Master Teacher Studio (Soochow University), the Soochow University Alliance of Marxist Colleges, the Department of Research on Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the School of Marxism of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Marxist Theoretical Innovation Think Tank of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the School of Marxism of Soochow University.

为深入学习贯彻习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想和党的二十届三中全会精神，回顾和总结新中国成立以来党和国家各项事业的发展历程、主要成就和经验启示，11月2日，庆祝中华人民共和国成立75周年暨学习贯彻党的二十届三中全会精神理论研讨会在苏州大学天赐庄校区举行。会议由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院、苏州大学联合主办，教育部全国高校思想政治理论课教师研修基地(苏州大学) 、江苏省习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究中心苏州大学基地、江苏省马克思主义理论学科联盟、苏州大学哲学社会科学联合会、全国高校思政课名师工作室(苏州大学)、在苏州高校马克思主义学院联盟、中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义中国化研究部、中国社会科学院大学马克思主义学院、中国社会科学院马克思主义理论创新智库、苏州大学马克思主义学院联合承办。

Deng Min expressed gratitude to the leaders and experts for their long-term care and support for the university’s development, and introduced the development and construction achievements of the university and its School of Marxism in terms of school history, talent cultivation, and discipline construction. He pointed out that this symposium aims to review and summarize the magnificent development process of the Party and the state since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and to promote the in-depth and practical study and implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC. He expressed the hope that by building a high-level academic exchange platform, it would promote the collision of ideas and the integration of wisdom among experts and scholars from different fields, further stimulate innovation vitality, and contribute wisdom and strength to further deepening reform comprehensively and advancing Chinese-path modernization.

邓敏对各位领导、专家长期以来给予学校发展的关心支持表示感谢，并从办学历史、人才培养、学科建设等方面介绍了学校及马克思主义学院的发展建设成果。他指出，本次研讨会旨在通过对新中国成立以来党和国家波澜壮阔的发展历程进行回顾和总结，推进学习贯彻习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想和党的二十届三中全会精神走深走实。希望通过搭建高水平学术交流平台，促进来自不同领域的专家学者之间的思想碰撞与智慧交融，进一步激发创新活力，为进一步全面深化改革、推动中国式现代化贡献智慧和力量。

In his speech, Luo Wendong pointed out that this symposium is of great significance for promoting the Marxist academic community to deeply and systematically study and interpret Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and to study and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC. He emphasized that Marxist theoretical workers must continuously strengthen their sense of mission, responsibility, and commitment, achieve good results in researching and resolving major issues concerning the overall, fundamental, and critical aspects of the Party and the state; strengthen research on the historical experience and inherent laws of comprehensively deepening reform, research on the major principles and practical paths of comprehensively deepening reform, and research on the theorization and systematization of comprehensively deepening reform, so as to make due contributions to adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times and serving the overall situation of economic and social development.

罗文东在讲话中指出，此次研讨会对推进马克思主义学界深入系统研究阐释习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想、学习贯彻党的二十届三中全会精神具有重要意义。他强调，马克思主义理论工作者要不断增强使命意识、责任意识和担当精神，在研究解决事关党和国家全局性、根本性、关键性的重大问题上取得好成果；要加强全面深化改革的历史经验和内在规律研究，加强全面深化改革的重大原则和实践路径研究，加强全面深化改革的学理化体系化研究，为推进马克思主义中国化时代化，服务经济社会发展大局做出应有的贡献。

In her speech, Ye Meilan pointed out that this symposium focuses on exchanges and discussions around the “further deepening reform comprehensively and advancing Chinese-path modernization” proposed at the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC. The theme is prominent, the topics are rich, and it is timely and opportune, possessing important academic significance and social value. She stated that, guided by the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, the new journey should focus on doing a good job in four aspects: “deepening theoretical study, strengthening curriculum construction, promoting practical innovation, and cultivating high-quality talents.” The spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC should be further studied, researched, and implemented well, jointly enhancing the educational effectiveness of ideological and political courses, continuously consolidating the achievements of discipline construction, and contributing more to cultivating socialist builders and successors for the New Era.

叶美兰在讲话中指出，本次研讨会重点围绕党的二十届三中全会中提出的“进一步全面深化改革、推进中国式现代化”展开交流讨论，主题突出，选题丰富，正当其时、恰逢其势，具有重要的学术意义和社会价值。她表示，在党的二十届三中全会精神的指引下，新征程应重点做好“深化理论学习、加强课程建设、推动实践创新、培养高素质人才”四方面的工作，将党的二十届三中全会精神进一步学习好、研究好、贯彻好，共同提升思政课程育人效果，不断巩固学科建设成果，为培养新时代社会主义建设者和接班人贡献更多力量。

Zhou Jiuhua highly affirmed the significance of this symposium. He pointed out that this symposium is both an urgent need to deeply study and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC and an important measure to unite efforts, pool wisdom, and explore effective paths for further deepening reform comprehensively and advancing Chinese-path modernization. He put forward three opinions on how the Jiangsu provincial education system should deeply study, publicize, and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC: first, raise the political stance and unify thoughts and actions with the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee; second, adhere to systematic thinking and coordinate the promotion of integrated reforms in the education, science and technology, and talent systems and mechanisms; third, focus on upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground, and deeply carry out research and interpretation work on the spirit of the plenum. He hoped that the university could take this symposium as an opportunity to continue to play a demonstrative and leading role, uphold fundamental principles and break new ground, accelerate development, and continuously achieve new and greater successes.

周玖华高度肯定此次研讨会的意义。他指出，此次研讨会既是深入学习贯彻党的二十届三中全会精神的迫切需要，也是凝心聚力、集思广益，探索进一步全面深化改革、推进中国式现代化有效路径的重要举措。他就江苏省教育系统如何深入学习宣传贯彻党的二十届三中全会精神，提出三点意见：一是提高政治站位，把思想和行动统一到党中央决策部署上来；二是坚持系统思维，统筹推进教育科技人才体制机制一体改革；三是注重守正创新，深入开展全会精神的研究阐释工作。他希望学校能够以本次研讨会为契机，继续发挥示范引领作用，守正创新、加快发展，不断取得新的更大成绩。

The keynote report session was presided over by Li Nan, Party Branch Secretary and Professor of the School of Marxism of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Luo Wendong and Luo Yuting delivered keynote reports titled “Theoretical Innovation and Guiding Significance of the Decision of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC” and “Deeply Advancing Chinese-Path Modernization and Vigorously Developing Modern Productive Forces,” respectively.

Luo Wendong delivered his report to the conference online. He systematically explained the theme, main line, core essence, and spiritual substance of the “Decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Further Deepening Reform Comprehensively to Advance Chinese-Path Modernization” [1]1 The New Era (新时代) refers to the period beginning with the 19th National Congress of the CPC in 2017, characterized by the establishment of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guiding ideology. adopted at the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, and analyzed the theoretical innovation and guiding significance of the plenum’s decision in a simple and profound manner.

罗文东在线上向大会作报告。他条分缕析地讲解了党的二十届三中全会通过的《中共中央关于进一步全面深化改革、推进中国式现代化的决定》的主题主线、核心要义、精神实质，并深入浅出地分析了全会决定的理论创新和指导意义。

In his report, Luo Yuting pointed out that vigorously developing modern productive forces is the fundamental task of advancing Chinese-path modernization, the inherent requirement of adhering to a people-centered approach and putting the people first, the core essence of achieving high-quality development, and the key to building a comprehensive innovation support system. It must be unswervingly advanced forward to lay a solid foundation for Chinese-path modernization and create a new situation of national prosperity and strength and people’s happiness and well-being.

骆郁廷在报告中指出，大力发展现代生产力是推进中国式现代化的根本任务，是坚持人民中心与人民至上的内在要求，是实现经济高质量发展的核心要义，也是构建全面创新支持体制的关键，必须坚定不移地向前推进，为中国式现代化奠定坚实基础，开创国家繁荣富强、人民幸福安康的新局面。

Four authors of conference papers—Hu Ying, Professor at the School of Marxism, Sun Yat-sen University; Zheng Ying, Professor at Suzhou Art & Design Technology Institute; Su Nan, Doctoral Candidate at Renmin University of China; and Yang Yating, Doctoral Candidate at Wuhan University—conducted paper exchanges.

论文交流环节由《江苏社会科学》责任编辑史拴拴主持。中山大学马克思主义学院教授胡莹、苏州工艺美术职业技术学院教授郑英、中国人民大学博士研究生苏楠、武汉大学博士研究生杨亚婷4位会议论文作者进行了论文交流。

The closing ceremony was chaired by Zhu Rongrong, Vice Dean of the School of Marxism, Soochow University. The organizers announced the list of award-winning papers for this symposium and presented honorary certificates to the winners. This symposium received nearly 300 conference papers from experts, scholars, and graduate students at universities and research institutes nationwide, with 226 papers selected for inclusion. After evaluation by the review committee, 5 papers were awarded the Special Prize, 20 the First Prize, and 25 the Second Prize.

闭幕式由苏州大学马克思主义学院副院长朱蓉蓉主持。主办方公布本次会议的获奖论文名单，并为获奖者颁发荣誉证书。本次研讨会共收到来自全国高校、科研院所专家学者和研究生的会议论文近300篇，入选参会论文226篇。经过评审委员会评审，评选出特等奖5篇、一等奖20篇、二等奖25篇。

Finally, He Xinyuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Research on Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context, Institute of Marxism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Sun Jianhua, Dean of the School of Marxism, Soochow University, delivered concluding remarks. They stated that this symposium centrally showcased the multi-level, multi-dimensional, and multi-perspective research achievements of national Marxist theory experts and scholars on the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, and that it was a conference of theoretical innovation, novel viewpoints, wisdom integration, and mutual inspiration.

最后，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义中国化研究部副主任贺新元，苏州大学马克思主义学院院长孙建华，分别作总结讲话。他们表示，本次研讨会集中展示了全国马克思主义理论专家学者对党的二十届三中全会精神多层次、多维度、多视域的研究成果，是一次理论创新、观点新颖，智慧交融、彼此启迪的大会。

This symposium conducted an in-depth discussion on the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, further clarifying the ideas for Marxist schools at various universities to be guided by the Party’s innovative theories in the New Era, [1]1 The New Era (新时代) refers to the period beginning with the 19th National Congress of the CPC in 2017, characterized by the establishment of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guiding ideology. to base themselves on the great practice of the New Era, and to continuously advance theoretical research reform and innovation. It also built a bridge and bond for experts, scholars, and young students to exchange new viewpoints, broaden new horizons, and inspire new thinking. All participating units will further strengthen cooperation and exchanges, deepen the research and interpretation of the Party’s innovative theories, and provide theoretical support and practical pathways for further deepening reform comprehensively and advancing Chinese-path modernization.
