The Academy of Marxism Celebrates the 100th Birthday of Retired Cadre Comrade Li Chengbin

On November 15, 2024, greeting the dawn of early winter, Luo Wendong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and three others arrived at Xinhua Jiayuan Nursing Home to celebrate the 100th birthday of retired cadre Comrade Li Chengbin. Luan Wenlian, Secretary of the Party Branch for Retired Cadres of the Academy of Marxism; Qi Jianguo, Director of the Office; Lü Zhicheng, Deputy Director; family members and children of Comrade Li Chengbin; and leaders and staff of the Xinhua Jiayuan Nursing Home attended this birthday celebration.

2024年11月15日，迎着凛冬初升的朝霞，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院党委书记罗文东一行四人赶到新华家园养老院为离休干部李成斌同志庆贺百岁生日。马研院离退休干部党支部书记栾文莲、办公室主任齐建国、副主任吕志成，李成斌同志家属子女，以及所在新华家园养老院的领导和工作人员参加了这次生日庆贺活动。

Luo Wendong first presented the congratulatory letter from the Retired Cadres Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences wishing Comrade Li Chengbin a happy 100th birthday and read the congratulatory message aloud. He then, on behalf of the Party Committee and leadership of the Academy of Marxism, expressed warm congratulations and delivered a speech for Comrade Li Chengbin’s 100th birthday. He fondly reviewed Comrade Li Chengbin’s academic achievements, pointing out that during his work at the Institute of Marxism-Leninism and the Academy of Marxism, Comrade Li Chengbin was diligent and hardworking, and that multiple papers he publicly published in the journal *Marxist Studies*, such as “Upholding the Labor Theory of Value,” “Upholding Socialist Public Ownership of the Means of Production,” and “Historical and Practical Reflections on State Ownership of the Means of Production,” had a good influence in academic circles. After retirement, Comrade Li Chengbin continued to write tirelessly, still engaging in the scientific research he loved and caring about the construction and development of the Academy of Marxism. Retired cadres are a precious asset of the Party and the state, and an important force in advancing the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Doing the work for retired cadres with heart, feeling, and effort, and providing good service for all retired cadres, is an unshirkable responsibility of a unit’s Party Committee. It is hoped that Comrade Li Chengbin will take care of his health and enjoy his later years in peace.

罗文东首先呈上了中国社会科学院离退休干部局祝贺李成斌同志百岁生日寿辰的贺柬并宣读贺词，接着代表马研院党委和领导班子，对李成斌同志百岁生日表示热烈的祝贺并致辞。他深情回顾了李成斌同志的学术成就，指出李成斌同志在马列所和马研院工作期间勤勤恳恳，在《马克思主义研究》期刊上公开发表《坚持劳动价值论》《坚持社会主义生产资料公有制》《关于生产资料国家所有制的历史与现实思考》等多篇论文在学界产生了很好的影响。离休后，李成斌同志笔耕不辍，依然从事他热爱的科研事业，并关心马研院的建设和发展。离退休干部是党和国家的宝贵财富，是推进中国特色社会主义伟大事业的重要力量，用心用情用力做好离退休干部工作，为所有离退休干部做好服务是一个单位党委义不容辞的责任。希望李成斌同志保重身体、安享晚年。

Comrade Li Chengbin’s wife, Ms. Xu Shumin, on behalf of the family, expressed sincere gratitude to the Party organizations of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Academy of Marxism for their care for the elderly comrades. Luan Wenlian, Secretary of the Party Branch for Retired Cadres of the Academy of Marxism, recalled that when Comrade Li Chengbin wrote “My Story of Joining the Party” to commemorate the centenary of the Party’s founding, he said that Teacher Li devoted himself to the revolutionary cause in his early years and later actively participated in social science research, especially research on Marxist economic theory. He is a respected senior figure, and he set an example for us in being loyal to the Party’s social science cause and being serious and rigorous in scholarship. Jiang Qin, Deputy General Manager of Xinhua Jiayuan Elderly Care Services (Beijing) Co., Ltd., the nursing home where Comrade Li Chengbin resides, expressed congratulations and welcomed the delegation from the Academy of Marxism. She said: “This place is the old people’s home, giving them the warmth of home, the coziness of home. We are also the old people’s family members, and we must take good care of their daily lives. May we join hands to do a better job in our country’s elderly care work, so that they can enjoy their later years in peace and share in the fruits of the nation’s reform and opening up.”

李成斌同志的老伴徐淑敏女士代表家属对社科院和马研院党组织对老同志的关爱表示由衷的感谢。马研院离退休党支部书记栾文莲回顾李成斌同志在纪念建党百年时写下《我的入党故事》说，李老师早年投身革命事业，后又积极参与社会科学研究，特别是马克思主义经济理论研究，是我们尊敬的老前辈，他为我们忠诚党的社科事业，认真严谨做学问树立了榜样。李成斌同志所在养老院新华家园养老服务（北京）有限公司副总经理江芹表示祝贺，对马克思主义研究院一行的到来表示欢迎。她说：“我们这里就是老人的家，给予老人家的温暖，家的温馨，我们也是老人的亲人，要照顾好他们的日常生活。愿我们携手把我国的老龄工作事业做得更好，让他们安享晚年，分享国家改革发展的成果。”
