Institute of Marxism Organizes Retired Veteran Cadres for a Visit to the Tongzhou Sub-Center of Beijing

On January 7, 2025, under the guidance of the Party Committee of the Institute of Marxism, the Retired Party Branch and the Office organized veteran cadres to visit the Beijing City Library and the Beijing Art Center located in Tongzhou, the sub-center of Beijing, and to step into the Urban Green Heart Forest Park, to experience the rapid development of the capital’s modernization, to experience the application of scientific and technological progress in the cultural life of the people, and to receive a physical and spiritual cleansing from nature. Party Committee Secretary Luo Wendong personally led the team, and a total of 18 personnel, including the office staff and veteran cadres, participated in the above activities.

2025年1月7日，在马克思主义研究院党委的指导下，离退休党支部和办公室组织老干部参观位于北京城市副中心通州的北京城市图书馆、北京艺术中心，踏入城市绿心森林公园，感受首都现代化建设快速发展，体验科技进步在人民文化生活中的应用，接受大自然的身心洗礼。党委书记罗文东亲自带队，办公室及老干部共18位人员参加了上述活动。

At the Beijing City Library, the staff provided detailed explanations, and the veteran comrades listened attentively, learning that this modern library, guided by the principles of “being people-friendly, distinctive, and smart,” is a composite and diverse cultural complex integrating functions such as knowledge dissemination, urban think tank, and shared learning. The Beijing City Library houses the world’s largest single-building library reading room, the largest intelligent three-dimensional book stack in China, the first comprehensive intangible cultural heritage document reading room in China, the most professional art document library in China, and the largest children’s reading activity space in China. The advanced metaverse experience hall also allows readers to experience a reading world where the virtual and the real blend. The library can meet the reading needs and humanistic experiences of different groups of people.

在北京城市图书馆，工作人员细心讲解，老同志们认真聆听，了解到，这个现代化图书馆以“亲民 特色 智慧”为引领，是集知识传播、城市智库、学习共享等功能于一体的复合多元文化综合体。北京城市图书馆内建有世界最大单体图书馆阅览室、国内藏书量最大的智能化立体书库、国内第一家综合性非遗文献阅览室、国内最专业的艺术文献馆、国内面积最大的少儿阅读活动空间。先进的元宇宙体验馆还使读者体验虚拟与现实交融的阅读世界。图书馆可以满足不同人群的阅读需要和人文体验。

The comrades personally felt the convenience and efficiency of modern technology integrated into functions such as book collection, retrieval, and borrowing. To facilitate readers, the library has also realized the function of inter-library borrowing and returning with other municipal libraries in Beijing. On the spot, several veteran comrades applied for library cards and experienced its speed and convenience.

同志们切身感受到了现代科技运用于图书收藏、检索、借阅等功能于一体的便捷和高效。图书馆为了方便读者，还实现了与北京市其它市级图书馆的通借通还功能。当场就有多位老同志办理了读者卡，感受到了它的快捷便利。

In the afternoon, everyone also visited another new cultural landmark of the Beijing Sub-Center—the Beijing Art Center, strolling through the opera house, concert hall, drama theater, and the hall filled with artistic atmosphere. Afterwards, they walked in the Urban Green Heart Forest Park, breathing fresh air and basking in the warm winter sunlight. The veteran cadres said, “We thank the Institute of Marxism and the Party branch for organizing this visit, which broadens our horizons, increases our knowledge, and helps us keep up with the times!”

下午，大家又参观了北京城市副中心的又一新文化地标——北京艺术中心，徜徉在歌剧院、音乐厅和戏剧场和充满艺术氛围的大厅里。之后又到城市绿心森林公园散步，呼吸新鲜空气，沐浴着冬日温暖的阳光。老干部们说，感谢马研院和支部组织的这次参观活动，使我们开阔眼界、增长知识、跟上时代！
