Administrative Party Branch of the Academy of Marxism Holds a Party Member Conference

On July 1, 2025, the Administrative Party Branch of the Academy of Marxism held a Party member conference. Branch Secretary Comrade Chi Chongyang presided over the meeting and delivered a Party lecture on the theme of “Party Spirit of Chinese Communists,” which was attended by all Party members and activists of the branch.

General Secretary Xi Jinping has pointed out: “The issue of work style is fundamentally an issue of Party spirit; work style reflects image and quality, embodies Party spirit, and it is Party spirit that plays the decisive role.” [1]1 This quotation is from Xi Jinping’s remarks on the relationship between work style and Party spirit, often cited in Party-building contexts. Focusing on General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourse on Party spirit, Chi Chongyang delivered the Party lecture from two aspects: “What is the Party spirit of Chinese Communists” and “How to strengthen Party spirit cultivation.” He proposed that the Party spirit of a Chinese Communist Party member is the concrete embodiment of the Party’s nature, goals, purpose, work style, discipline, and morality in the Party member. The issue of Party spirit is essentially an issue of standpoint; Party members must stand on the standpoint of the Party and the people, and must not place personal interests first. Every Party member, when faced with major issues of principle, and before the Party’s principles and discipline, must unhesitatingly uphold Party spirit; when the Party’s interests and the people’s interests conflict with personal interests, they must insist on putting the Party’s interests and the people’s interests above all else. Party members must continuously strengthen Party spirit cultivation, achieve absolute loyalty to the Party, firmly uphold ideals and convictions, adhere to putting the people first, strictly observe the Party’s discipline and rules, carry forward the Party’s glorious traditions and fine work style, and develop the spirit of responsibility and struggle, among other things.

习近平总书记指出：“作风问题根本上是党性问题，作风反映的是形象和素质，体现的是党性，起决定作用的也是党性。”围绕习近平总书记关于党性的重要论述，池重阳从“什么是中国共产党人的党性”“如何加强党性修养”两方面讲党课，提出中国共产党党员的党性是党的性质、目标、宗旨、作风、纪律、道德等在党员身上的具体体现。党性问题本质上是立场问题，党员必须站在党和人民立场上，而不能把个人利益放在第一位。每名党员在大是大非面前，在党的原则、纪律面前，要毫不犹豫地讲党性；在党的利益、人民的利益与个人利益发生矛盾时，必须坚持党的利益、人民利益至上。党员要不断加强党性修养，做到对党绝对忠诚，坚定理想信念，坚持人民至上，严守党的纪律和规矩，弘扬党的光荣传统和优良作风，发扬担当和斗争精神，等等。

Chi Chongyang also combined an analysis of typical cases of violations of the Party Central Committee’s Eight-Point Regulations [2]2 The Eight-Point Regulations are a set of rules issued by the Party Central Committee in 2012 to curb bureaucracy, extravagance, and formalism among Party officials. to emphasize the importance of adhering to the principle of Party spirit.
