The 12th CASS Forum on Scientific Socialism and the Mao Zedong Thought Forum Successfully Held at the Weihai Campus of Shandong University

On July 26, 2025, the 12th Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Forum on Scientific Socialism and the Mao Zedong Thought Forum were held at the Weihai Campus of Shandong University. This forum was jointly sponsored by the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Shandong University, and co-organized by the Department of Research on the Adaptation of Marxism to the Chinese Context of the Academy of Marxism of CASS, the School of Marxism of Shandong University, the School of Marxism (Weihai) of Shandong University, and the School of Marxism of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Experts and scholars from universities and research institutions including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Central Institute of Party History and Literature, the Central Party School (National Academy of Governance), Peking University, Wuhan University, Jilin University, Lanzhou University, and Tongji University, as well as editorial representatives from journals such as *Marxist Studies*, *Social Sciences in Chinese Higher Education Institutions*, *Theoretical Investigation*, *Observation and Reflection*, and *Studies on Mao Zedong Thought*, gathered around the theme of “Chinese-Path Modernization Theory and Scientific Socialism” for academic exchange and discussion.

2025年7月26日，第十二届中国社会科学院科学社会主义论坛暨毛泽东思想论坛在山东大学威海校区举行。本次论坛由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院、山东大学联合主办，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义中国化研究部、山东大学马克思主义学院、山东大学马克思主义学院（威海）、中国社会科学院大学马克思主义学院联合承办。来自中国社会科学院、中共中央党史和文献研究院、中共中央党校（国家行政学院）、北京大学、武汉大学、吉林大学、兰州大学、同济大学等高校和科研院所的专家学者，以及《马克思主义研究》《中国高校社会科学》《理论探讨》《观察与思考》《毛泽东思想研究》等期刊的编辑代表，围绕“中国式现代化理论与科学社会主义”主题展开学术交流和研讨。

Professor Zhang Shihai, Dean of the School of Marxism of Shandong University, presided over the opening ceremony. Researcher Qiu Daobin, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Weihai Campus of Shandong University, delivered a welcome address. Researcher Xin Xiangyang, Dean of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Dean of the School of Marxism of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered a speech and a keynote report.

Secretary Qiu Daobin, in his address, introduced the progress Shandong University has made in recent years in advancing the construction of the School of Marxism and the development of the discipline of Marxist theory. He stated that this forum should be taken as an opportunity to continuously study, publicize, research, and elucidate Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, to deeply explore the rich connotations, internal logic, and contemporary value of Chinese-path modernization theory, to deepen the understanding of the theoretical system of Chinese-path modernization and research on practical issues, and to provide new ideas, inject new momentum, and achieve new development for advancing and expanding Chinese-path modernization.

仇道滨书记在致辞中介绍了山东大学近年来推进马克思主义学院建设和马克思主义理论学科发展情况，表示要以此次论坛为契机，持续学习宣传研究阐释习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想，深入探讨中国式现代化理论的丰富内涵、内在逻辑和时代价值，深化对中国式现代化理论体系的认识和实践问题的研究，为推进和拓展中国式现代化提供新思路、注入新动力，实现新发展。

Dean Xin Xiangyang delivered a speech and a keynote report titled “Four Points of Reflection on Deeply Studying Chinese-Path Modernization.” Dean Xin Xiangyang pointed out that the discussion centered on the theme of “Chinese-Path Modernization Theory and Scientific Socialism” aims to deeply study, research, and elucidate Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, to further deeply study and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC [1]1 The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, held in July 2024, focused on further comprehensively deepening reform and opening up to advance Chinese-path modernization., to deeply explore the internal relationship between Chinese-path modernization and further comprehensively deepening reform and opening up, to further clarify the rich connotations, contemporary value, and major contributions of Chinese-path modernization theory, and to seek a realistic path for comprehensively advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-path modernization. In his keynote report, Dean Xin Xiangyang emphasized that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on Chinese-path modernization must be taken as the fundamental guidance, adhering to a grand historical perspective, establishing a global vision, adhering to a problem-oriented approach, and focusing on the main theme and main line. He stressed the need to profoundly clarify the internal logic, main experiences, important principles, and realistic paths for comprehensively advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-path modernization, continuously promoting knowledge innovation, theoretical innovation, practical innovation, and methodological innovation, and contributing wisdom and strength to comprehensively building a modern socialist country and advancing the great cause of national rejuvenation through Chinese-path modernization.

辛向阳院长致辞并以“深入研究中国式现代化的四点思考”为题作主旨报告。辛向阳院长指出，围绕“中国式现代化理论与科学社会主义”主题展开探讨，旨在深入学习研究阐释习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想，进一步深入学习贯彻党的二十届三中全会精神，深入探讨中国式现代化与进一步全面深化改革的内在关系，进一步阐明中国式现代化理论的丰富内涵、时代价值和重大贡献，为以中国式现代化全面推进中华民族伟大复兴探寻现实路径。在主旨报告中，辛向阳院长强调要以习近平总书记关于中国式现代化的重要论述为根本遵循，坚持大历史观、树立世界眼光、坚持问题导向、聚焦主题主线，深刻阐明以中国式现代化全面推进中华民族伟大复兴的内在逻辑、主要经验、重要原则、现实路径等，不断推动知识创新、理论创新、实践创新和方法创新，为以中国式现代化全面推进强国建设、民族复兴伟业贡献智慧和力量。

The first session of keynote reports was presided over by Professor Li Nan, Party Secretary of the School of Marxism of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Researcher Deng Chundong from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Researcher Yang Mingwei from the Central Institute of Party History and Literature, Professor Xue Guangzhou from the Central Party School (National Academy of Governance), Researcher Liu Zhiming from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Professor Sun Laibin from Peking University delivered keynote speeches respectively titled “Deeply Understanding the Strategic Significance of Starting from Work Style to Advance Comprehensive and Strict Governance of the Party,” “Mao Zedong’s Discussion on Several Mental States for Achieving the Goal of Building a Strong Country,” “Viewing Chinese-Path Modernization through the Lens of ‘Integration’,” “Promoting Coordinated Development of Material Civilization and Cultural-Ethical Progress,” and “How to Treat the Basic Principles of Scientific Socialism.”

第一阶段主题报告由中国社科院大学马克思主义学院党委书记李楠教授主持。中国社会科学院邓纯东研究员，中共中央党史和文献研究院杨明伟研究员、中共中央党校（国家行政学院）薛广洲教授，中国社会科学院刘志明研究员、北京大学孙来斌教授，分别以“深入理解从作风入手推进全面从严治党的战略意义”“毛泽东论实现强国目标的几种精神状态”“从‘相结合’透视中国式现代化”“推动物质文明和精神文明协调发展”“如何对待科学社会主义基本原则”为题作主题发言。

The second session of keynote reports was presided over by Researcher Ren Jie, Executive Editor-in-Chief and Director of the Editorial Department of *Marxist Studies*. Professor Xiang Jiuyu from Wuhan University, Professor Wu Hongzheng from Jilin University, Professor Chen Shifa from Nanchang University, Professor Lan Hanlin from the Party School of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPC, and Researcher Yu Bin from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences delivered keynote speeches respectively titled “The Paradox of ‘Modernity’ and the Response of Chinese-Path Modernization,” “The World Historical Horizon of Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context and the Needs of the Times,” “The Historical Evolution of China’s Human Rights Development Path since the Founding of New China,” “Adhering to the Bloodline of the Chinese Han Language and Script, Consolidating the Foundation of Cultural Subjectivity,” and “Viewing Artificial Intelligence from the Transmission Mechanism of ‘Productive Forces – Lifestyle’.”

第二阶段主题报告由《马克思主义研究》执行主编、编辑部主任任洁研究员主持。武汉大学项久雨教授、吉林大学吴宏政教授、南昌大学陈始发教授、中共浙江省委党校蓝汉林教授、中国社会科学院余斌研究员，分别以“‘现代性’悖论与中国式现代化应对”“马克思主义中国化时代化的世界历史境域”“新中国成立以来中国人权发展道路的历史演进”“坚守汉语言文字血脉，巩固文化主体性根基”“从‘生产力——生活方式’的传导机制看人工智能”为题作主题发言。

The third session of keynote reports was presided over by Associate Professor Dong Muxi, Vice Dean of the School of Marxism of Shandong University. Researcher He Xinyuan from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Cai Wencheng from Lanzhou University, Professor Guan Feng from South China Normal University, Professor Kang Xiaoqiang from the Central Party School (National Academy of Governance), and Associate Researcher Duan Guangpeng from Shandong University delivered keynote speeches respectively titled “The Key to Chinese-Path Modernization Lies in the ‘Second Integration’,” “An Analysis of the Productive Forces Logic of Chinese-Path Modernization,” “The Three-Dimensional Highlighting of ‘Chinese Characteristics’ in the New Era and the ‘Two Integrations’,” “Deepening the Systematic and Theoretical Research and Elucidation of the Chinese-Path Modernization Theory System,” and “The Resolution of Chinese-Path Modernization to the Trap of ‘Discourse’ Conversion in Western Modernization.”

第三阶段主题报告由山东大学马克思主义学院副院长董沐夕副教授主持。中国社会科学院贺新元研究员、兰州大学蔡文成教授、华南师范大学关锋教授、中共中央党校（国家行政学院）康晓强教授，山东大学段光鹏副研究员，分别以“中国式现代化的关键在于‘第二个结合’”“中国式现代化的生产力逻辑探析”“新时代‘中国特色’的三维凸显与‘两个结合’”“深化中国式现代化理论体系化学理化研究阐释”“中国式现代化对西方现代化‘话术’转换陷阱的破解”为题作主题发言。

This forum was divided into five sub-forums, where attending experts and scholars engaged in exchange and discussion on major theoretical and practical issues concerning Chinese-path modernization and scientific socialism.

本次论坛共设五个分论坛，与会专家学者围绕中国式现代化与科学社会主义的重大理论与实践问题等交流研讨。

Professor Hao Shucui, Executive Vice Dean and Deputy Party Secretary of the School of Marxism (Weihai) of Shandong University, presided over the closing ceremony. Associate Professor Han Boyao from Xinjiang University, Associate Professor Wang Guolong from Capital University of Economics and Business, Teacher Jiang Linhong from China University of Petroleum (Beijing), Teacher Jian Jiaojie from the Party School of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the CPC, and Student Liu Hongyu from the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences reported on behalf of each sub-forum. Researcher Liu Zhichang, Deputy Director of the Department of Research on the Adaptation of Marxism to the Chinese Context of the Academy of Marxism of CASS, delivered the concluding summary speech.
