The 13th Forum on Scientific Atheism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the 2025 Annual Academic Conference of the China Atheism Society Successfully Held at Taiyuan University of Technology

On August 16, 2025, the 13th Forum on Scientific Atheism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the 2025 Annual Academic Conference of the China Atheism Society were successfully held at Taiyuan University of Technology. This forum was jointly hosted by the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the China Atheism Society, the Research Center for Science and Atheism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Taiyuan University of Technology; organized by the Department of Research on Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the School of Marxism of Taiyuan University of Technology, and the School of Marxism of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; and co-organized by the Think Tank for Marxist Theoretical Innovation of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the editorial office of *Science and Atheism*. With the theme “Marxist Atheism and the Scientific Spirit,” the forum brought together experts and scholars from over 60 universities and research institutions nationwide, including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, and the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC (National Academy of Governance), as well as representatives of faculty and students from Taiyuan University of Technology and graduate students from various regions. In addition, representatives from six academic journals—*World Socialism Studies*, *Science and Atheism*, *Journal of Guizhou Normal University (Social Science Edition)*, *Journal of Guangxi University for Nationalities (Philosophy and Social Science Edition)*, *Observation and Reflection*, and *Social Science Journal*—participated in the discussions.

2025年8月16日，中国社会科学院第十三届科学无神论论坛暨中国无神论学会2025年学术年会在太原理工大学成功举办。本届论坛由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院、中国无神论学会、中国社会科学院科学与无神论研究中心、太原理工大学联合主办，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义中国化研究部、太原理工大学马克思主义学院、中国社会科学院大学马克思主义学院承办，中国社会科学院马克思主义理论创新智库、《科学与无神论》编辑部协办。论坛以“马克思主义无神论与科学精神”为主题，汇聚来自中国社会科学院、北京大学、中共中央党校（国家行政学院）等全国60余所高校和科研机构的专家学者、太原理工大学师生代表和各地硕博研究生参会，同时《世界社会主义研究》《科学与无神论》《贵州师范大学学报（社科版）》《广西民族大学学报（哲学社会科学版）》《观察与思考》《社会科学辑刊》等六家学术期刊代表与会研讨。

The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Yao Jianjun, Dean of the School of Marxism at Taiyuan University of Technology. Shen Xingquan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Taiyuan University of Technology, pointed out in his welcome address that the university consistently integrates the cultivation of the scientific spirit into the entire process of fostering virtue through education [1]1 “Fostering virtue through education” (立德树人) is a central principle of Chinese education policy, emphasizing moral character development as the foundation of talent cultivation., and, by continuously promoting the organic combination of curriculum-based ideological-political education, ideological-political courses, and online ideological-political education, earnestly fulfills its mission of educating people for the Party and cultivating talent for the state. Luo Wendong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, stated in his address that the forum and annual conference should adhere to the “Two For” direction [2]2 The “Two For” direction (二为方向) refers to the policy that literature and art should serve the people and serve socialism., the “Double Hundred” policy [3]3 The “Double Hundred” policy (双百方针) is the policy of “letting a hundred flowers bloom and a hundred schools of thought contend,” encouraging diversity in arts and sciences., and the “Two Creations” principle [4]4 The “Two Creations” principle (两创原则) refers to the creative transformation and innovative development of China’s excellent traditional culture., implement Xi Jinping’s cultural thought and the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC [5]5 The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC (党的二十届三中全会) was a major meeting of the Chinese Communist Party’s top leadership, typically focused on economic and institutional reform., base themselves on China’s vigorous great practice of building an advanced socialist culture, uphold the Marxist stance, viewpoint, and method, draw on the experiences and lessons of other countries in propagating science and atheism, and study and explore the essential requirements, practical methods, and the underlying principles, theories, and logic of the disciplinary construction and development of scientific atheism. This is to contribute wisdom and strength to accelerating the construction of China’s independent knowledge system of scientific atheism, which takes Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as its banner and soul, and to comprehensively advance the building of a strong country and the great cause of national rejuvenation. Gong Yun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Institute of Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Chairman of the China Atheism Society, elaborated on the contemporary value of research on Marxist atheism from the perspectives of ideological security and the construction of the common spiritual home of the Chinese nation. He proposed that, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the sense of responsibility, mission, and commitment in research on Marxist atheism should be continuously strengthened. Lei Chengfeng, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Executive Vice Chairman of the Shanxi Federation of Social Sciences, emphasized in his address the need to use truth as a torch to create original achievements, to use youth as a bridge to build a collaborative education model, and to promote high-quality development in Shanxi through cultural construction.

The forum featured two keynote report sessions, presided over respectively by He Xinyuan, Director of the Department of Research on Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Vice Chairman of the China Atheism Society, and Zhang Xinying, former Deputy Director of the Institute of World Religions of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and President of the journal *Science and Atheism*. Chen Zhigang, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission and Vice President of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Vice Chairman of the China Atheism Society, systematically elucidated the conceptual connotation and contemporary value of the scientific spirit in conjunction with Marxist discussions on the scientific spirit. Zhang Xinying focused on elucidating the inherent unity between the Marxist view of religion and Marxist atheism. Zhang Guozuo, former Deputy Director of the Theoretical Bureau of the Central Propaganda Department and former Director of the National Office for Philosophy and Social Science Planning, deeply interpreted the connotative characteristics of the scientist spirit in light of China’s scientific and technological development practice. Lü Jianfu, Professor at the Advanced Research Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Shaanxi Normal University and Vice Chairman of the China Atheism Society, analyzed the interrelationship between Marxist atheism and scientific atheism from a theoretical perspective. Peng Wuqing, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Xinjiang Normal University, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Marxism, and Vice Chairman of the China Atheism Society, explored the necessity and practical pathways of integrating the Marxist view of religion into ideological-political courses based on the actual situation of local ideological-political teaching. Huang Chao, Vice Dean of the School of Philosophy at Wuhan University and Vice Chairman of the China Atheism Society, emphasized that Marxist atheism is the first button that must be fastened correctly in Chinese religious studies. Zeng Chuanhui, Researcher at the Institute of World Religions of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Vice Chairman of the China Atheism Society, analyzed the contributions of Chinese scholars to the development of religious studies theory during the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period based on a review of academic history. Dai Jicheng, Director of the Sociology Teaching and Research Office of the School of Criminology at People’s Public Security University of China and Vice Chairman of the China Atheism Society, systematically analyzed the psychological mechanisms and corresponding preventive strategies of youth groups when facing infiltration by cult organizations.

论坛设两场主旨报告，分别由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义中国化研究部主任、中国无神论学会副理事长贺新元，中国社会科学院世界宗教研究所原副所长、《科学与无神论》期刊社长张新鹰主持。中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院纪委书记、副院长，中国无神论学会副理事长陈志刚结合马克思主义关于科学精神的论述系统阐释了科学精神的概念内涵及其时代价值。张新鹰着重阐释马克思主义宗教观与马克思主义无神论二者的内在统一性。中宣部理论局原副局长、原全国社科规划办主任张国祚结合中国科技发展实践，深入解读科学家精神的内涵特征。陕西师范大学哲学社会科学高级研究院教授、中国无神论学会副理事长吕建福从学理层面辨析了马克思主义无神论与科学无神论的相互关系。新疆师范大学党委常委、马克思主义学院党委书记，中国无神论学会副理事长彭无情结合地方思政课教学实际，探讨了马克思主义宗教观融入思政课的必要性和实践路径。武汉大学哲学学院副院长、中国无神论学会副理事长黄超强调马克思主义无神论是中国宗教学必须扣好的第一粒扣子。中国社会科学院世界宗教研究所研究员、中国无神论学会副理事长曾传辉基于学术史梳理分析晚清民国时期我国学者对宗教学理论发展的贡献。中国人民公安大学犯罪学学院社会学教研室主任、中国无神论学会副理事长戴继诚系统分析了青少年群体面对邪教组织渗透时的心理机制与相应防范策略。

The forum established four parallel sub-forums, where participating scholars conducted in-depth discussions on topics including General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourses on atheism and the scientific spirit, Marxist atheism and the construction of a scientific culture, the propaganda and education of atheism in the era of artificial intelligence, and the atheist genes and scientific spirit within China’s excellent traditional culture. Through forms such as keynote reports, commentary dialogues, and case studies, each sub-forum fostered a positive interaction between theoretical elaboration and practical exploration.

论坛设置四个平行分论坛，与会学者分别围绕习近平总书记关于无神论和科学精神的重要论述、马克思主义无神论与科学文化建设、人工智能时代的无神论宣传教育、中华优秀传统文化的无神论基因与科学精神等议题展开深入研讨。各分论坛通过主题报告、评议对话、案例研讨等形式，形成理论阐释与实践探索的良性互动。

The closing ceremony was presided over by Li Jimin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Marxism at Taiyuan University of Technology. During the sub-forum results reporting session, four representatives summarized the core viewpoints and theoretical reflections of the discussions in their respective groups. Subsequently, Jia Runguo, Academic Advisor of the China Atheism Society, pointed out in the conference summary session that this forum, through interdisciplinary dialogue and multi-dimensional perspective collision, effectively promoted the theoretical deepening and methodological innovation of research on Marxist atheism. Huang Yanhong, Director of the Research Office for Marxist Atheism of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Director of the Editorial Department of *Science and Atheism*, and Secretary-General of the China Atheism Society, stated in her conference summary that, through the construction of a normalized academic exchange platform, the deepening and expansion of basic theoretical research on Marxist atheism should be systematically promoted, thereby fostering the innovative development of the cause of atheism.

The successful convening of this forum has demonstrated the cutting-edge achievements in the field of Marxist atheism and scientific atheism in the New Era, and has also reflected the theoretical innovation and practical leadership of Marxist atheism in contemporary China. Through academic dialogue, it has both deepened the theoretical elucidation of the atheist ideological system and expanded the practical pathways for the innovative development of Marxist atheism in the New Era, thereby helping to consolidate the guiding role of Marxism in the ideological domain. Taking this forum as an opportunity, the School of Marxism at Taiyuan University of Technology will continue to deepen the construction of an academic community, and by strengthening cross-departmental coordination, cross-institutional cooperation, and cross-disciplinary dialogue, jointly advance the construction of the disciplinary system, academic system, and discourse system of Marxist atheism in the New Era. It will empower practical innovation with theoretical innovation, provide solid theoretical support and talent guarantees for cultivating a scientific spirit and forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation [6]6 “Forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation” (铸牢中华民族共同体意识) is a political slogan emphasizing national unity and ethnic solidarity under the leadership of the CPC., and effectively enhance the mission and responsibility of the Marxist theoretical discipline.

本届论坛的成功举办，展现了新时代马克思主义无神论、科学无神论研究领域的前沿成果，也体现了马克思主义无神论在当代中国的理论创新力与实践引领力。通过学术对话，既深化了对无神论思想体系的学理阐释，也拓展了新时代马克思主义无神论创新发展的实践路径，有助于夯实马克思主义在意识形态领域的指导地位。太原理工大学马克思主义学院以本次论坛为契机，持续深化学术共同体建设，通过强化跨部门协同、跨机构合作、跨学科对话，共同推进新时代马克思主义无神论的学科体系、学术体系与话语体系建设。以理论创新赋能实践创新，为培育科学精神、铸牢中华民族共同体意识提供坚实的学理支撑与人才保障，切实增强马克思主义理论学科的使命担当。
