Institute of Marxism Holds Symposium on the Publication of *The Great Spirit of the War of Resistance*

In order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech at the Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences organized the writing of *The Great Spirit of the War of Resistance*, authored by Yu Xiaolei, which was recently published by the China Social Sciences Press. On December 17, 2025, the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences held a symposium on the publication of *The Great Spirit of the War of Resistance*.

为深入学习贯彻习近平总书记在纪念中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利80周年大会上的讲话精神，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院组织撰写、于晓雷所著《伟大抗战精神》一书，近日中国社会科学出版社出版。2025年12月17日，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院举办《伟大抗战精神》出版座谈会。

This book takes as its guiding thread General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the spirit of the War of Resistance delivered on multiple important occasions since the 18th National Congress of the CPC. From the perspectives of the unity of history and logic, the unity of theory and practice, and the connection between domestic and international dimensions, it provides a comprehensive, in-depth, and systematic analysis and discussion of the great spirit of the War of Resistance. The first chapter of the book theoretically summarizes the connotation of the spirit of the War of Resistance, the logic of its formation, and the exploration of this spirit by the Communist Party of China. The second, third, fourth, and fifth chapters primarily adopt a historical perspective, concretely illustrating, through anti-Japanese heroes, heroic groups, and heroic deeds, the great spirit of the War of Resistance as proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping: “the patriotic sentiment that ‘everyone is responsible for the rise

该书以党的十八大以来习近平总书记在多个重要场合关于中国人民抗日战争和抗战精神的重要论述为统领，从历史与逻辑相一致、理论与实践相统一、国内与国际相联系的视角，对伟大抗战精神进行了全面深入系统的分析和论述。该书第一章从理论上概括了抗战精神内涵、抗战精神形成的逻辑，中国共产党对抗战精神的探索等问题。第二、三、四、五章主要从历史视角，通过抗日英雄、英雄群体和英雄事迹来具体展现习近平总书记提出的“天下兴亡、匹夫有责的爱国情怀，视死如归、宁死不屈的民族气节，不畏强暴、血战到底的英雄气概，百折不挠、坚忍不拔的必胜信念”的伟大抗战精神。第六章阐述了伟大抗战精神具有跨越时空的重大意义和时代价值，说明伟大抗战精神不仅融入中国共产党和中华人民的血脉，成为代代相传的红色基因，成为革命、建设、改革的精神动力，而且对当今世界和平与发展有重要价值。

The symposium was chaired by Researcher He Xinyuan, Director of the Department of Research on Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context at the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Deputy Director Researcher Liu Zhichang delivered the concluding remarks. Researcher Luo Wendong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Institute of Marxism, gave an opening address. He pointed out: The book *The Great Spirit of the War of Resistance* is the product of collective research and multi-party collaboration by the researchers of the Institute of Marxism, and is an important manifestation of organized research at the Institute of Marxism. Our Institute of Marxism must not only study the great spirit of the War of Resistance well, but also promote it well, continuously stimulating its spiritual strength. At present, China's development is in a period where strategic opportunities coexist with risks and challenges, and uncertain and unpredictable factors are increasing. In order to meet challenges and defuse risks, we must always bear in mind historical experiences and lessons, inherit and promote the great spirit of the War of Resistance, and, with the determination and courage to overwhelm all difficulties without being overwhelmed by them, wage a resolute struggle against various risks and challenges, persevering unswervingly in striving for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation until final victory is achieved.

座谈会由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义中国化研究部主任贺新元研究员主持，副主任刘志昌研究员做了会议的总结发言。马克思主义研究院党委书记罗文东研究员作致辞。他指出：《伟大抗战精神》一书是马研院的研究人员集体攻关，多方协作的产物，是马研院有组织科研的重要表现。我们马克思主义研究院既要研究好伟大抗战精神，更要弘扬好伟大抗战精神，不断激发其精神力量。当前，我国发展处于战略机遇与风险挑战并存、不确定难预料的因素增多的时期。为了应对挑战化解风险，我们必须时刻铭记历史经验和教训，继承和弘扬伟大抗战精神，以压倒一切困难而不为困难所压倒的决心和勇气，与各种风险挑战进行坚决斗争，锲而不舍为实现中华民族伟大复兴而奋斗，直至取得最后的胜利。

Deputy Director Gao Guorong and Researcher Wu Minchao of the Institute of Modern History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences offered their comments on the book. They believe that the book *The Great Spirit of the War of Resistance* is clear and well-structured in its organization, and achieves a combination of text and illustrations in both content and form; it is an important work with ideological content, academic rigor, readability, interest, and knowledge. The book has a complete system and comprehensive argumentation, achieving a combination of historical narrative and theoretical analysis, upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground [1]1 upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground (守正创新): A key concept in contemporary Chinese political discourse, meaning to maintain core principles (such as Marxism and Party leadership) while innovating in practice and theory.. In particular, in its treatment of the relationship between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, the book both reflects the role of the Kuomintang's frontal battlefield and highlights the role of the Chinese Communist Party as the mainstay, fully demonstrating the history of the entire nation's War of Resistance.

中国社科院中国近代史研究所的高国荣副所长、吴敏超研究员对本书做了点评。他们认为，《伟大抗战精神》一书在结构上清晰明了，在内容和形式上做到了图文并茂，是一本具有思想性、学术性、可读性、趣味性和知识性的重要成果。本书的体系完整，论证全面，做到了史论结合、守正创新。尤其是本书在国共两党关系的处理上，既体现了国民党正面战场的作用，又突出了中国共产党的中流砥柱作用，充分展现了全民族抗战的历史。

Participants in their remarks pointed out that the entire process from the writing and revision to the publication of this book embodies the spirit of unity and collaboration through the joint efforts of individuals and the collective. It is the result of active discussion by researchers at the Institute of Marxism on the current hot topic of commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, reflecting the sense of responsibility of the Institute of Marxism. The publication of this book is only a phased achievement in the study of the great spirit of the War of Resistance. It is hoped that in future research it can be continuously expanded and deepened, with ongoing development and innovation, to produce more and better research results.

与会人员在发言中指出，从本书的撰写、修改到出版的整个过程都集中体现了个人和集体共同努力的团结协作精神，是马研院研究人员对当前纪念中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利80周年热点问题进行积极探讨所取得的成果，体现了马研院的责任担当。本书的出版只是关于伟大抗战精神研究的阶段性胜成果，希望能够在以后的研究中不断加以拓展和深化，不断发展创新，推出更多更好的研究成果。
