News from the Academy of Marxism website: On March 13, the Academy of Marxism held a meeting for retired cadres to convey the spirit of the conference on comprehensive and strict governance of the Party and warning education of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. More than 20 retired Party members and cadres and staff members attended the meeting. Party Committee Secretary Luo Wendong attended the meeting and delivered a speech, and retired Party Branch Secretary Luan Wenlian presided over the meeting.

The participants first watched a warning education video, then studied and conveyed the spirit of President Gao Xiang’s speech at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences 2026 Conference on Comprehensive and Strict Governance of the Party and the Academy-wide Warning Education Conference; studied and conveyed the “Work Plan for the Academy of Marxism to Establish and Practice a Correct Outlook on Political Performance and Conduct Study and Education” and the “Reminder on Doing a Good Job of Ideological Work for Retired Personnel in 2026”; as well as disciplinary requirements for regulating staff members’ publication of works abroad and acceptance of interviews with foreign media, and management requirements for staff members’ part-time positions. After hearing the conveyed content, the veteran comrades carefully read the documents and engaged in discussion. Comrades Zhang Zuying, Li Wei, Zhao Zhikui, Wang Shijin, Shang Wei, Luan Wenlian, Li Xiaoyong, and others spoke in turn.

All agreed that the Party Leadership Group of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Party Committee of the Academy of Marxism attach great importance to work with retired cadres and show great concern for veteran comrades. The veteran comrades are actively striving for improvement, and the work of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences has entered its best period, which is also the best period for work with veteran cadres. They expressed gratitude for the political trust in veteran comrades, the care for their lives, and the opportunity to let veteran comrades contribute their remaining heat. They said they would do their utmost to play a role. All expressed support for and endorsement of the requirements of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Academy of Marxism for work with veteran cadres, stating that strict management and generous care are unified. Retired personnel must maintain the true character of Communist Party members, cherish and protect the reputation of staff members of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, consciously observe Party discipline, and abide by the rules, regulations, and work requirements of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Strengthening ideological work is very important. We must clearly recognize the domestic and international situation and consciously maintain a high degree of consistency with the Party Central Committee. Some veteran comrades also put forward opinions and suggestions on keeping up with modern technological development, mastering the application of artificial intelligence, and strengthening the scientific research work of the Academy of Marxism.

He explained the Academy of Marxism’s discipline construction plan and the construction of the “two towns (fronts)” [1]1 “Two towns (fronts)” — a reference to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences’ “Two Fronts and One Platform” construction, where the character 镇 (town) is a homophone for 阵 (front, as in battlefront), likely referring to ideological and academic fronts. and one platform.

罗文东指出，要从建设中国特色社会主义大局的高度，从办好中国社会科学院和哲学社会科学发展这两个规律层面上看待老干部工作。对离退休干部的服务与管理，是份内之事。马研院给每位同志，包括离退休干部购买、配备学习材料，要及时组织学习、领会和落实。他对马研院学科建设规划，“两镇（阵）”一平台建设等情况做了讲解。
