2024 National Annual Conference on the Study of Marxist Principles and the Symposium on the "Two Integrations" and Innovative Research on the Basic Principles of Marxism Convened at Yunnan Normal University

On August 22, the 2024 National Annual Conference on the Study of Marxist Principles and the Symposium on the "Two Integrations" and Innovative Research on the Basic Principles of Marxism was convened at Yunnan Normal University. This forum was jointly sponsored by the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China University of Political Science and Law, and Yunnan Normal University, and jointly organized by the Department of Marxist Principles Research of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the School of Marxism of China University of Political Science and Law, and the School of Marxism of Yunnan Normal University. The theme of this symposium is the "Two Integrations" and Innovative Research on the Basic Principles of Marxism. Luo Wendong, Party Secretary of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Hu Ming, Party Secretary of China University of Political Science and Law; and Zhang Zuwu, Party Secretary of Yunnan Normal University, attended the meeting and delivered addresses. More than 90 experts and scholars from nearly 80 research institutes, institutions of higher education, and journal and magazine units nationwide, including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Renmin University of China, and Beijing Normal University, participated in the conference through a combination of online and offline methods.

8月22日，2024年全国马克思主义原理研究年会暨“两个结合”与马克思主义基本原理创新研究研讨会在云南师范大学召开。本届论坛由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院、中国政法大学、云南师范大学联合主办，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义原理研究部、中国政法大学马克思主义学院、云南师范大学马克思主义学院联合承办，本次研讨会主题为“两个结合”与马克思主义基本原理创新研究”。中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院党委书记罗文东，中国政法大学党委书记胡明，云南师范大学党委书记张祖武出席会议并致辞。来自中国社会科学院、中国人民大学、北京师范大学等全国近80家科研院所、高等院校、期刊杂志等单位的90余名专家学者通过线上线下相结合的方式参会。

The opening ceremony of the symposium on the morning of the 22nd was presided over by Li Hong, Deputy Party Secretary of Yunnan Normal University. Luo Wendong, Researcher and Party Secretary of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Professor Hu Ming, Party Secretary of China University of Political Science and Law; and Zhang Zuwu, Party Secretary of Yunnan Normal University, each delivered an address.

In his address, Luo Wendong pointed out that at this critical moment when the entire Party and the whole country are studying and implementing the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, further deepening reform comprehensively and advancing Chinese-path modernization, and on the 120th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Deng Xiaoping, the chief architect of our country's reform and opening up and modernization drive, we have gathered in the beautiful Spring City—Kunming—to convene the 2024 National Annual Conference on the Study of Marxist Principles. This undoubtedly holds very important theoretical and practical significance. It is hoped that this annual conference will thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee, and conduct in-depth discussions and exchanges on major theoretical and practical issues such as the profound connotation and great significance of the "Two Integrations" and the disciplinary construction of the principles of Marxism.

罗文东在致辞中指出，在全党全国兴起学习贯彻党的二十届三中全会精神，进一步全面深化改革、推进中国式现代化热潮的关键时刻，在我国改革开放和现代化建设的总设计师邓小平同志诞辰120周年纪念日，我们汇聚在美丽的春城——昆明，召开2024年全国马克思主义原理研究年会，无疑具有非常重要的理论意义和现实意义。希望本次年会深入学习贯彻党的二十届三中全会精神，围绕“两个结合”的深刻内涵和重大意义、马克思主义原理学科建设等重大理论和实践问题展开深入研讨与交流。

In his address, Hu Ming pointed out that the "Two Integrations" profoundly reveal the internal logic and developmental path of Marxism in China, and are of great significance for advancing innovative research on the basic principles of Marxism. While enriching and expanding Marxist theory, the "Two Integrations" scientifically guide the socialist modernization construction with Chinese characteristics, achieving an organic unity of theory and practice.

胡明在致辞中指出，“两个结合”深刻揭示了马克思主义在中国发展的内在逻辑和发展路径，对于推进马克思主义基本原理的创新研究具有重要意义。“两个结合”丰富和拓展马克思主义理论的同时，科学指导中国特色社会主义现代化建设，实现了理论与实践的有机统一。

On behalf of Yunnan Normal University, Zhang Zuwu extended a warm welcome and sincere greetings to the experts and scholars attending the meeting. He stated that convening the 2024 National Annual Conference on the Study of Marxist Principles and the Symposium on the "Two Integrations" and Innovative Research on the Basic Principles of Marxism injects academic wisdom into implementing the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee and advancing the adaptation of Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times, and holds special and important significance.

The annual conference arranged two plenary keynote reports, two plenary speeches, and three group discussions. The first plenary keynote report was presided over by Professor Zhang Jian, Party Secretary of the School of Marxism of Yunnan Normal University. Researcher Luo Wendong, Party Secretary of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered the keynote report titled "The Creative Application and Development of the Basic Principles of Marxism—Understanding and Insights from Studying the Spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee." Professor Tao Wenzhao, Vice Dean of the School of Marxism of Renmin University of China, delivered the keynote report titled "Scientifically Grasping Adherence to Institutional Construction as the Main Line." Professor Tai Lihua, Executive Dean of the School of Marxism of China University of Political Science and Law, delivered the keynote report titled "Research on the Endogenous Driving Force of the Evolution of Marx's Fetishism Thought." Professor Liu Huajun, Dean of the School of Marxism of Yunnan Normal University, delivered the keynote report titled "The 'Two Integrations' as an Important Path for the Generation of Historical Initiative Spirit."

The second plenary keynote report was presided over by Researcher Sun Yingshuai, Director of the Office of the History of Marxist Development, Department of Marxist Principles Research, Academy of Marxism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Researcher Yu Bin, Director of the Department of Marxist Principles Research, Academy of Marxism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered the keynote report titled "The Second Leap over the Caudine Forks." [1]1 "Caudine Forks" (卡夫丁峡谷) refers to a metaphorical concept in Marxist theory, derived from a historical event where a Roman army was forced to pass under the yoke at the Caudine Forks. Marx and Engels used it to discuss the possibility of societies bypassing the capitalist stage of development, a topic later taken up in debates about the path of socialist revolution. Professor Yang Zengdong, Vice Dean of the School of Marxism of Beijing Normal University, delivered the keynote report titled "An Analysis of 'Traditional Culture' in the Classic Works of Marx and Engels." Professor Wang Weiguo, Executive Dean of the School of Marxism of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered the keynote report titled "Engels' Thought on the 'Proletariat's Sense of Theory' and Its Implications." Professor Xie Jun, Dean of the School of Marxism of Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, delivered the keynote report titled "Reflections on Artificial Intelligence and Human Intelligence from the Perspective of the Marxist View of Practice."

第二场大会主题报告由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义原理研究部马克思主义发展史研究室主任孙应帅研究员主持，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义原理研究部主任余斌研究员作《卡夫丁峡谷的第二重跨越》主题报告；北京师范大学马克思主义学院副院长杨增岽教授作《马克思恩格斯经典著述中的“传统文化”析论》主题报告；中国社会科学院大学马克思主义学院执行院长王维国教授作《恩格斯“工人阶级理论感”思想及启示》主题报告；重庆邮电大学马克思主义学院院长谢俊教授作《马克思主义实践观视域下的人工智能与人类智能之思》主题报告。

Professor Wang Haiyun, Dean of the School of Marxism of Kunming University of Science and Technology, delivered the plenary speech titled "Continuing the Chinese Cultural Heritage in Adhering to the 'Two Integrations'." Researcher Zhang Jianyun, Director of the Office of Marxist Philosophy, Department of Marxist Principles Research, Academy of Marxism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered the plenary speech titled "Adhering to the 'Two Integrations' in the Context of New Quality Productive Forces to Solve Major Issues of the Times and Practice." Professor Lai Jinian, Deputy Director of the Institute of Social Development, Nanjing Tech University, delivered the plenary speech titled "The Historical Logic, Theoretical Logic, and Practical Path of the Development of Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture from the Perspective of the 'Second Integration'." Professor Lin Jianhua of the School of Marxism of Liaoning Normal University delivered the plenary speech titled "Tracing Roots and Clarifying Sources: An Analysis of the 'Hua' (Sinicization) Discourse in the Adaptation of Marxism to the Chinese Context."

Professor Zhao Qingjie of the School of Marxism of China University of Political Science and Law delivered the plenary speech titled "Making Good Use of Excellent Traditional Chinese Cultural Resources to Advance the Modernization of National Governance." Professor Wen Changchun of the School of Marxism of Hainan Normal University delivered the plenary speech titled "The Historical Generation and Connotative Logic of the Substance-Function Logic of Xi Jinping's Cultural Thought." Associate Researcher Yang Jun of the Institute of Marxist Studies, Fudan University, delivered the plenary speech titled "From 'One-Sided Critique of Legislation' to 'Scientific Legislation': The Constructive Development of Marxist Legislative Theory in the New Era." Associate Professor Wang Ya of the School of Marxism of Yunnan Normal University delivered the plenary speech titled "Following Xi Jinping's Cultural Thought to Cultivate the National Sentiment of Young Students in Border Ethnic Regions." Professor Zhu Xianchen of the School of Political Science and Law of Xinjiang Normal University spoke on behalf of the first group of the breakout sessions. Associate Researcher Zhang Fujun, Director of the Office of Political Economy, Department of Marxist Principles Research, Academy of Marxism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, spoke on behalf of the second group of the breakout sessions.
