“The Warmth of the New Era” Publishing Symposium Held in Beijing

—Reading “The Warmth of the New Era” to Perceive the View of the People

——读《新时代的温度》感知人民观

On August 9, the “The Warmth of the New Era” publishing symposium, hosted by the Research Department of Marxist Principles of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Oriental Press, was held in Beijing. This meeting primarily revolved around the key thematic publication of the Oriental Press, “The Warmth of the New Era,” discussing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era’s exposition on the view of the people, and also deliberating on the value and significance of the book’s publication.

8月9日，由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义原理研究部、东方出版社主办的《新时代的温度》出版座谈会在京举行。本次会议主要围绕着东方出版社主题出版的重点作品《新时代的温度》，对习近平总书记新时代中国特色社会主义思想关于人民观的论述进行探讨，并讨论了该书出版的价值和意义。

The publication of “The Warmth of the New Era” has inspired scholars to conduct new reflections and research on Xi Jinping’s view of the people from a fresh perspective. Experts and scholars from institutions and universities including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC (National Academy of Governance), Peking University, Renmin University of China, Nankai University, and Yunnan Normal University attended this meeting and conducted in-depth discussions on the book from aspects such as its publication process, publication value, and reflections after reading. At the same time, Huang Shuyuan, Vice Chairman of the China Publishing Association and former President of the People’s Publishing House, and Ren Chao, Vice Chairman of the China Book Distribution Association and former Deputy President of the People’s Publishing House, objectively evaluated the academic value and market value of the author’s work from the perspectives of editing and distribution.

《新时代的温度》一书的出版，启发了学者们以新的角度对习近平总书记的人民观进行新的思考和研究。中国社会科学院、中共中央党校（国家行政学院）、北京大学、中国人民大学、南开大学、云南师范大学等机构和高校的专家、学者出席了本次会议，并分别对此书从出版历程、出版价值、读后感悟等方面做了深入研讨。同时，中国出版协会副理事长、人民出版社原社长黄书元，中国发行协会副主席、人民出版社原副社长任超，从编辑和发行的角度，客观评价了作者这部作品的学术价值和市场价值。

Turning “Warmth” into Warmth in the Hearts of 1.4 Billion Chinese People

将“温度”化为14亿中国人民心中的温暖

From the perspective of creation, according to the author’s representative, Professor Qian Minghui of the School of Philosophy and Political Science of Yunnan Normal University, the author Li Wei himself emerged from ordinary hardship and is a minority cadre who advanced step by step from the grassroots! Li Wei often says, “Every bit of my progress is the result of cultivation by the Party and the people. Without the sunshine and rain of the Party, I would still be herding cattle and sheep in a small mountain village.” It is precisely because of personal experience and a genuine feeling of the ubiquitous care in the New Era, and a constant sense of gratitude and thankfulness toward the Party and the people. At the same time, it is precisely because of this keen perception, feeling that the New Era is an era full of warmth, that it inspired the author’s passion for writing, determined to emit a warm and resounding voice of the New Era, forming positive social energy.

从创作的角度，据作者代表云南师范大学哲学与政法学院教授钱明辉介绍，作者李维本人，是从平凡艰苦中走出来的，从基层一步一步走过来的少数民族干部！李维时常说，“自己的每一点进步，都是党和人民培养的结果。没有党的阳光雨露，自己还在小山村放牛养羊。”正是因为亲身的体会，真切的感受到新时代无处不在的关怀，始终对党和人民充满感恩和感激。同时，正是因为这种敏锐的感知，感到新时代是很有温度的时代，激发了作者的写作激情，一定要发出新时代有温度的响亮声音，形成社会正能量。

Xin Xiangyang, Vice President of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, pointed out that the timing of this book’s publication is very good, closely aligning with the thematic education on “remaining true to our original aspiration and founding mission” [1]1 “Remaining true to our original aspiration and founding mission” (初心使命) refers to the core theme of the political education campaign launched by the CPC in 2019, calling on Party members to remember the Party’s founding goals of serving the people and rejuvenating the nation., closely aligning with the requirements of the New Era starting from the masses of the people, and especially grasping the historic transformation of the principal contradiction in the New Era. A very important change occurring in New Era socialism is: the needs of the masses of the people have transformed from the past material and cultural needs into the need for a better life. The language of this book is very vivid, close to the New Era, and even closer to the needs of readers.

中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院副院长辛向阳指出，本书的出版时机很好，贴近“不忘初心、牢记使命”的主题教育，贴近新时代从人民群众的要求出发，特别是抓住了新时代社会主要矛盾发生的历史性转化。新时代社会主义发生的很重要的变化是：人民群众的需求从过去的物质文化已经变成对美好生活的需要。这本书很多语言非常鲜活，贴近新时代，更贴近读者的需求。

Various experts and scholars gave affirmative evaluations from the perspective of writing

各位专家、学者从写作角度给予了肯定的评价

Yu Bin, Director of the Research Department of Principles of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, stated that this book is very well written, not only reflecting the warmth of the New Era, but also emphasizing that the Party and the people are as one, and that the people are a very important force and a solid foundation for building socialism with Chinese characteristics.

中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院原理研究部主任余斌表示，这本书写的非常好，既体现了新时代的温暖，同时也强调了，党和人民如一人，人民是建设中国特色社会主义非常重要的力量，也是坚实的根基。

“The chapter logic is very clear, the language is very distinctive, the theoretical logic runs through from beginning to end, it is problem-oriented, and the ultimate foothold lies in explaining General Secretary Xi Jinping’s exposition on the view of the people,” said Liu Zhiming, Director of the Research Department of Development of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

“章节逻辑性非常清晰，语言非常有特点，理论的逻辑性贯穿始终，以问题为导向，最终的落脚点都落在阐释习近平总书记关于人民观的论述”，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院发展研究部主任刘志明说。

Yuan Jinhui, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC (National Academy of Governance), elaborated in detail on the word “warmth” in three aspects. He stated that warmth is mainly reflected in three aspects: first, the warm masses of the people in the New Era; second, the warm leader in the New Era; third, the author is a warm author. At the same time, we are a large multi-ethnic country; whether it is the masses of various ethnic groups or scholars of various ethnicities, they can all find their own position under the theme of “people-centered,” which is also worth our careful study and appreciation.

中共中央党校（国家行政学院）教授，博士生导师袁金辉详细地围绕“温度”二字进行了三个方面的总结。他表示，温度主要体现在三个方面：第一，新时代有温度的人民群众；第二，新时代有温度的领袖；第三，作者是一位有温度的作者。同时，我们是一个多民族的大国，各族的群众也好，各族的学者也好，都能够在“以人民为中心”的主题下找到自己的方位，也值得我们好好学习和品味。

“As scholars, we should embody the ‘warmth’ of the New Era, learn the thought of Xi Jinping’s view of the people for a New Era displayed in this book. Whether in thinking, speaking, or writing, scholars should center on the interests of the people, truly place the people in their hearts, only then can they research good theories. Therefore, the significance of this book’s publication is very great,” said Nie Zhihong, Associate Professor at the School of Marxism of Peking University.

“作为学者应该体现新时代的‘温度’，学习这本书所展现的习近平新时代中国特色社会主义人民观思想，学者无论从思考，还是发言，还是写东西，都应当以人民的利益为中心，把人民真正放在心中间，这样才能研究出好的理论。所以，这本书的出版意义很重大”，北京大学马克思主义学院副教授聂志红说。

Wang Shengsheng, Professor at the School of Marxism of Nankai University, stated that the author uses a narrative method that ordinary people can understand and read through, outlining the several lines of building socialism with Chinese characteristics proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping in the “Outline” [2]2 “The ‘Outline’” likely refers to the “Outline for Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era,” a key study document published by the CPC Central Propaganda Department., that is, people-centered, the people are our starting point and our ultimate destination.

南开大学马克思主义学院教授王生升表示，作者是以普通老百姓看得懂，读得下去的叙事方法，把习近平总书记在《纲要》当中所提出来的中国特色社会主义建设的几条线勾勒出来了，就是以人民为中心，人民是我们的出发点，是我们的最终归宿。

Zhang Chen, Researcher at the Renmin University of China National Research Center for the Political Economy of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, and Zhang Kai, Deputy Director of the Teaching and Research Office of the Economics Department and Associate Professor at the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC (National Academy of Governance), respectively shared their learning experiences from reading “The Warmth of the New Era” and studying General Secretary Xi Jinping’s thought on “people-centered” at the meeting.

中国人民大学全国中国特色社会主义政治经济学研究中心张晨研究员和中共中央党校（国家行政学院）经济学部教研室副主任、副教授张开分别在会上就阅读《新时代的温度》和学习习近平总书记关于“以人民为中心”思想的学习体会做了分享。

From the perspective of topic selection, Huang Shuyuan, Vice Chairman of the China Publishing Association, former President and Party Secretary of the People’s Publishing House, believes that the New Era is an era of warmth, and the Chinese people often feel this warmth. The author can write such a major theme in a way that is both lofty in conception and fresh and special, both full of positive energy and vivid and cordial, with a simple style of writing, fully demonstrating the love for the people and the heart for the people of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core.

从选题的角度，中国出版协会副理事长、人民出版社原社长、党委书记黄书元认为新时代是有温度的时代，中国人民时常感受到温度。作者把这么重大的一个主题能写的这么既立意高远又清新特殊，既有正能量又生动亲切，文风质朴，充分彰显了以习近平同志为核心的党中央的爱民情怀、为民之心。

Ren Chao, Vice Chairman of the China Book Distribution Association and former Executive Deputy President of the People’s Publishing House, through analysis and comparison with similar works, noted that there are many thematic publications this year, but many books feel rather flat, including problems in three aspects: from theory to theory, basically staying at one level, and basically staying at one angle. However, the entry point, title, angle, and even the publication timing of this “The Warmth of the New Era” all have aspects worth learning from. “Viewed horizontally, a ridge; from the side, a peak; near, far, high, low, each is different; changing the angle, the appearance will be vastly different.” [3]3 This is a classical Chinese poetic allusion from Su Shi’s poem “Written on the Wall at West Forest Temple,” describing how Mount Lu looks different from every angle, used here to argue that a fresh perspective can reveal new value in a familiar subject.

中国发行协会副会长、人民出版社原常务副社长任超通过与同类作品进行了分析对比，今年主题出版作品很多，但是有很多书感觉都是平平的，其中包括三个方面的问题：从理论到理论、基本保持在一个层面、基本保持在一个角度，而这本《新时代的温度》的切入点、书名、角度，甚至包括出版时机，都有值得借鉴的地方。“横看成岭侧成峰，远近高低各不同，换个角度面貌会大不一样。”

At the end of the new book symposium, Sun Han, Editor-in-Chief of the Oriental Press, stated that the various experts, professors, and guests all shared their views on the book “The Warmth of the New Era,” and also engaged in a great collision of ideas, which allowed us to understand the book’s connotation more deeply and to more comprehensively recognize what it means to place the people in the highest position in one’s heart, giving us a more concrete and also more three-dimensional understanding of the view of the people.

新书座谈会的最后，东方出版社总编辑孙涵表示，各位专家、教授和嘉宾都就《新时代的温度》这本书谈了自己的看法，也进行了思想的大碰撞，也让我们更深刻地了解了这本书的内涵，更全面的认知了什么叫将人民放在心中最高位置，让我们对人民观有了更具体、也更立体的认知。
