“The 12th National Forum of Young Marxist Scholars” Successfully Held at Nanchang Institute of Technology

On the occasion of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, from 21–22 September 2019, the “12th National Forum of Young Marxist Scholars” was held at Nanchang Institute of Technology, co-sponsored by the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Nanchang Institute of Technology, organized by the Editorial Office of *Marxist Studies* and the School of Marxism of Nanchang Institute of Technology, and co-organized by Social Sciences Academic Press. The theme of this forum was “The Construction of a Great Modern Socialist Country in China from the Perspective of Marxism.”

在喜迎新中国成立70周年之际，2019年9月21—22日，由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院、南昌工程学院主办，《马克思主义研究》编辑部、南昌工程学院马克思主义学院承办，社会科学文献出版社协办的“第十二届全国马克思主义青年学者论坛”在南昌工程学院举办。本次论坛主题为“马克思主义视阈下中国社会主义现代化强国建设”。

At the opening ceremony, Wu Zejun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanchang Institute of Technology, and Jia Chaoning, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission and Deputy Director of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered speeches respectively, with Wang Rongyou, Vice President of Nanchang Institute of Technology, presiding.

在开幕式上，南昌工程学院校党委副书记吴泽俊和中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院纪委书记、副院长贾朝宁分别致辞，南昌工程学院副校长汪荣有主持。

In his speech, Wu Zejun pointed out that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s report to the 19th National Congress of the CPC proposed “deepening the research and construction of Marxist theory and accelerating the construction of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics.” This is the foothold for studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era

在致辞中，吴泽俊指出，习近平总书记在十九大报告提出“深化马克思主义理论研究和建设，加快构建中国特色哲学社会科学”，这是学习贯彻习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的立足点，更是新时代科学总结新中国70周年历史经验的立足点。全国马克思主义青年学者要肩负起新使命、新担当，积极深化马克思主义研究，主动回应新时代坚持与发展中国特色社会主义中的重大理论和实践问题，展现青年马克思主义者的新气象和新作为。

Jia Chaoning elucidated the original aspiration and founding mission of Marxist research in the context of the New Era, and expounded the important significance of holding the National Forum for Young Marxist Scholars. He pointed out that young scholars should establish lofty ideals, keep in mind the original aspiration, and shoulder the founding mission; young scholars should lay a solid theoretical foundation, diligently study the classical theories of Marxism, Mao Zedong Thought, the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and especially Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; young scholars should also actively devote themselves to national construction and contribute their own strength to the prosperity of the country.

贾朝宁阐释了新时代背景下的马克思主义研究的初心和使命，阐述了举办全国马克思主义青年学者论坛的重要意义。他指出，青年学者应树立远大理想，牢记初心和担负使命；青年学者要打牢坚实的理论基础，努力学习马克思主义经典理论和毛泽东思想、中国特色社会主义理论，特别是习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想；青年学者还应积极投身于国家建设，为国家富强贡献自己的力量。

In the expert keynote speeches, Zhao Zhikui, professor and doctoral supervisor at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered a speech titled “The World’s Century-Old Changes and the Construction of a Powerful Socialist Modern Country with Chinese Characteristics,” expounding on what the world’s century-old changes are, the opportunities and challenges facing the construction of socialist modernization with Chinese characteristics, and the innovation and development of Marxism in the 21st century.

在专家主题发言中，中国社会科学院研究生院教授、博士生导师赵智奎以“世界百年变局和中国特色社会主义现代化强国建设”为题，阐述了世界百年变局是什么、中国特色社会主义现代化建设面临的机遇和挑战、21世纪马克思主义的创新与发展等问题。

Zhu Huanghe, former Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of the Jiangxi Provincial Federation of Social Sciences, and professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Marxism, Jiangxi Normal University, delivered a speech titled “On the Issue of Confidence in the Path of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics,” reviewing the process of proposing the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics and elucidating the connotation of the Four Confidences.

江西省社科联原党组书记、主席，江西师范大学马克思主义学院教授、博士生导师祝黄河以“中国特色社会主义道路自信问题”为题，梳理了中国特色社会主义道路提出的历程，阐释了“四个自信”的内涵。

Zhou Lisheng, Minister of the Publicity Department of the Party Committee of Jiangxi Normal University, Dean of the School of Marxism, and doctoral supervisor, delivered a speech titled “On the Theoretical Theme Issues of the New Thought,” setting forth his views. He pointed out that we should highlight the several major theoretical themes of “socialism,” “cultural confidence,” “changes in the principal contradiction,” “great struggle,” and “the Party’s overall leadership.”

江西师范大学党委宣传部部长，马克思主义学院院长、博士生导师周利生以“关于新思想的理论主题问题”为题阐述了自己的观点。他指出，我们应突出“社会主义”“文化自信”“主要矛盾变化”“伟大斗争”“党的全面领导”这几大理论主题。

In the speeches by young scholars, seven young scholars delivered keynote addresses on issues including the historical evolution of the principal contradiction since the founding of New China, the logic of a powerful socialist modern country, the logic of ecological civilization development, the evolution of the Chinese Communist Party’s thought on the development of philosophy and social sciences, and the historical evolution of the Communist Party’s ideological construction in governance.

在青年学者发言中，围绕新中国成立以来的社会主要矛盾的历史演变、社会主义现代化强国逻辑、生态文明发展逻辑、中国共产党哲学社会科学发展思想的演进、共产党执政意识形态建设的历史演进等问题，7位青年学者分别作主题发言。

Subsequently, the forum also conducted group discussions, where participating scholars engaged in detailed and in-depth exchanges around three topics: “Xi Jinping’s Important Discourses on Comprehensively Building a Powerful Socialist Modern Country,” “The Theoretical Contributions and Practical Explorations of a Powerful Socialist Modern Country,” and “The Basic Experience of the Chinese Communist Party’s 70 Years in Power.” All agreed that the forum provided a platform for young scholars to showcase themselves, allowing each young scholar to speak freely around the themes, share their research with everyone, and exchange their confusions with others. Through the expert commentary session, they achieved a leap forward and enhanced their confidence in future academic research.

随后，论坛又进行了分组讨论，与会学者围绕“习近平关于全面建成社会主义现代化强国的重要论述”“社会主义现代化强国的理论贡献和实践探索”和“中国共产党执政70周年基本经验”3个议题进行了细致、深入的交流。大家一致认为，论坛给了青年学者一个展示自我的平台，每个青年学者都能够围绕主题畅所欲言，将自己的研究与大家分享，将自己的困惑与大家交流，通过专家点评环节，更是得到了一次飞跃，增强了今后学术研究的信心。

This forum also selected ten award-winning papers from issues 10 of 2018 to issue 7 of 2019 of *Marxist Studies* and over 460 submissions from young scholars, including one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes, and four excellence awards. Certificates were issued to the winners as encouragement.

本届论坛还从《马克思主义研究》2018年第10期至2019年第7期以及青年学者460多篇投稿中共选出10篇获奖论文，其中一等奖1名，二等奖2名，三等奖3名，优秀奖4名，为获奖者颁发了证书，予以鼓励。

Liu Haoyan, the first prize winner, spoke on behalf of the awardees. In his speech, he shared his experiences and feelings from interacting with editors during the submission process to *Marxist Studies*, stating that although the process was arduous, it brought great gains, and he frankly acknowledged that this was actually the process of learning and growth for young scholars.

一等奖获得者刘皓琰代表获奖者做了发言，在发言中，他分享了在《马克思主义研究》投稿过程中与编辑交流的点滴及自己的感受，认为这个过程虽然煎熬，但却有很大的收获，并坦言这其实就是青年学者学习成长的过程。

The “Face-to-Face” session between the Editorial Department of *Marxist Studies* and young scholars was a distinctive feature of the forum. In this session, Liu Pu, Director of the Journal Division of the Scientific Research Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Tan Xiaojun, Director of the Editorial Department of *Marxist Studies*; Deputy Director Wang Shijin; editors Liu Shuhui and Liu Ying; Liu Tonghui, editor at the Social Sciences Academic Press; and Xu Muxi, editor of the Marxist Studies Network, exchanged views with young scholars on topics such as the development of the forum, the academic growth of young scholars, and issues to note in submissions, helping young scholars better understand the submission requirements of authoritative journals.

《马克思主义研究》编辑部与青年学者“面对面”是论坛的特色环节。在这个环节中，中国社会科学院科研局期刊处处长刘普、《马克思主义研究》编辑部主任谭晓军、副主任汪世锦、编辑刘曙辉和刘影、社科文献出版社编辑刘同辉、马克思主义研究网编辑徐沐熙与青年学者就论坛发展、青年学者的学术成长、投稿中需注意的问题等内容进行了交流，使青年学者更加了解权威期刊的投稿要求。

At the closing ceremony, Chen Fulong, Dean of the School of Marxism at Nanchang Institute of Technology, and Chen Jianbing, Vice Dean of the School of Marxism at Xi’an Jiaotong University, the host institution for the 2020 “13th National Forum for Young Marxist Scholars,” conducted the handover. Chen Jianbing, on behalf of the university, welcomed young Marxist scholars from across the country to gather in Xi’an next year.

在闭幕式上，南昌工程学院马克思主义学院院长陈付龙与2020年“第十三届全国马克思主义青年学者论坛”的承办单位西安交通大学马克思主义学院副院长陈建兵进行了交接，陈建兵代表学校欢迎全国的马克思主义青年学者明年在西安相聚。

Finally, Director Tan Xiaojun summarized the forum from three aspects: “one purpose,” “two platforms,” and “three hopes.” She pointed out that the purpose of holding the forum is singular: to cultivate young scholars and serve them. The Editorial Department will actively build up the two platforms of the journal *Marxist Studies* and the “National Forum for Young Marxist Scholars.” She hoped that the vast number of young scholars would come to the annual forum with hope and leave with full gains; that young scholars would conduct research down-to-earth and settle down to pursue scholarship during their golden period; and that young scholars would continue to support the journal’s work and the youth forum. She noted that this forum was held compactly and smoothly, with young scholars engaging in thorough discussions, presenting novel viewpoints and forward-looking thinking—a very good opportunity for exchange and learning. Finally, she offered a message to young scholars: to pursue scholarship for the country and the people, to discover problems, study problems, and solve problems, so as to become researchers and scholars useful to the country and the people.

最后，谭晓军主任从“一个目的”“二个平台”“三点希望”3个方面对本次论坛进行了总结。她指出，举办论坛的目的就一个，即培养青年学者，为青年学者服务。编辑部将积极打造好《马克思主义研究》杂志和“全国马克思主义青年学者论坛”两个平台。她希望，广大青年学者能够在每年的论坛上抱着希望而来，满载收获而归；青年学者能够脚踏实地做研究，在黄金时期安下心来做学问；青年学者继续支持期刊工作，支持青年论坛。她指出，本次论坛举办得紧凑而顺畅，青年学者进行了充分研讨，大家观点新颖、思维前瞻，是一次很好的交流与学习的机会。最后，她寄语青年学者，要为国家、为人民做学问，要发现问题、研究问题、解决问题，使自己成为对国家和人民有用的研究者、学问家。
