Theoretical Symposium on Studying and Implementing the Spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee and the Spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Speech at the Ceremony Marking the Centenary of the Communist Party of China Held in Beijing and Nanchang

On 25 December 2021, the “Theoretical Symposium on Studying and Implementing the Spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee and the Spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Speech at the Ceremony Marking the Centenary of the Communist Party of China” was held in Beijing and Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. The symposium was co-sponsored by the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Jiangxi Normal University, and the CASS Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It was organized by the School of Marxism of Jiangxi Normal University and the Research Department for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era of the CASS Academy of Marxism, and was conducted in a combination of online and offline formats. Jiang Hui, Vice President and Member of the Party Leadership Group of CASS, Director of the Institute of Contemporary China Studies, and President of the Academy of Marxism, and Zhou Lisheng, Vice President of Jiangxi Normal University, delivered opening remarks. The opening ceremony was chaired by Researcher Xin Xiangyang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the CASS Academy of Marxism.

2021年12月25日，“学习贯彻党的十九届六中全会精神暨习近平总书记在庆祝中国共产党成立100周年大会上的重要讲话精神理论研讨会”在北京和江西南昌召开。本次会议由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院、江西师范大学和中国社会科学院习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究中心主办，江西师范大学马克思主义学院、中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究部承办，会议采用线上线下相结合的方式举行。中国社会科学院副院长、党组成员、当代中国研究所所长、马克思主义研究院院长姜辉和江西师范大学副校长周利生分别致辞。开幕式由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院党委书记、副院长辛向阳研究员主持。

In his opening remarks, Jiang Hui pointed out that this forum focuses on two major topics: “the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee” and “General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Speech at the Ceremony Marking the Centenary of the Communist Party of China.” It aims to contribute wisdom to the in-depth study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and to the research, interpretation, and promotion of the development of Marxism for contemporary China and Marxism for the 21st century. It represents another important academic event between CASS and the university sector. Jiang Hui noted that studying the Party’s century-long history involves, first, in-depth research on the major achievements and historical experience of the Party’s century-long struggle, grasping the historical脉络 [n1], discerning historical laws, enhancing historical confidence, consolidating ideological consensus, and inspiring the strength to forge ahead; second, in-depth research on the founding of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the great significance of achieving a new historical leap in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context; and third, a profound understanding of the decisive significance of the Two Establishments [n2] for the development of the Party and the country’s undertakings in the New Era and for advancing the historical process of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

姜辉在致辞中指出，本次论坛聚焦“十九届六中全会”和“习近平总书记在庆祝中国共产党成立100周年大会上的重要讲话”两大议题，旨在为深入研究习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想，为研究阐释和推动发展当代中国马克思主义、21世纪马克思主义贡献智慧，是中国社会科学院与高校战线又一次重要学术盛典。姜辉指出，研究党的百年历史，一是深入研究我们党百年奋斗的重大成就和历史经验，把准历史脉络、洞悉历史规律、增强历史自信，凝聚思想共识，激发奋进力量；二是深入研究习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的创立与实现马克思主义中国化新的历史飞跃的重要意义；三是深刻认识两个确立对新时代党和国家事业发展、对推进中华民族伟大复兴历史进程具有的决定性意义。

In his opening remarks, Zhou Lisheng introduced the long history and current status of Jiangxi Normal University, focusing on the outstanding achievements of its School of Marxism under the leadership of the provincial Party committee and the university Party committee. In particular, he noted that the discipline of Marxist theory achieved one of Jiangxi’s four A-level results in the fourth round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education. Zhou Lisheng emphasized that we must effectively enhance our political, ideological, and action consciousness in studying and implementing the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee and the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Speech at the Ceremony Marking the Centenary of the Communist Party of China, and strive to make the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. Finally, Zhou Lisheng wished the conference a complete success.

周利生在致辞中介绍了江西师范大学的悠久历史和现状，着重介绍了江西师范大学马克思主义学院在省委和学校党委的领导下所取得的优异成绩，特别是马克思主义理论学科在教育部第四轮学科评估中获得江西4个A类之一的好成绩。周利生强调指出，我们要切实增强学习贯彻党的十九届六中全会精神暨习近平总书记在庆祝中国共产党成立100周年大会上的重要讲话精神的政治自觉、思想自觉、行动自觉，努力推动十九届六中全会精神深入人心。最后，周利生预祝大会圆满成功。

The keynote reports were chaired by Professor Han Qiaosheng, Dean of the School of Marxism at Jiangxi Normal University. Four experts provided in-depth interpretations of adapting Marxism to the Chinese context. In his keynote report titled “The ‘Three Full Manifestations’ of Marxism in China,” Researcher Xin Xiangyang proposed that the openness and contemporaneity of Marxism are fully manifested in China, the people-centered character and practicality of Marxism are fully implemented in China, and the scientific nature and truth of Marxism are fully tested in China.

主旨报告由江西师范大学马克思主义学院院长韩桥生教授主持，四位专家对马克思主义中国化作了深入解读。辛向阳研究员在“马克思主义在中国的‘三个充分’”的主旨报告中提出，马克思主义的开放性和时代性在中国得到充分彰显、马克思主义的人民性和实践性在中国得到充分贯彻、马克思主义的科学性和真理性得到充分检验。

The keynote speech sessions were successively chaired and commented on by Researcher Chen Zhigang, Director of the Research Department for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era at the CASS Academy of Marxism; Professor Han Ling, Vice Dean of the School of Marxism at Jiangxi Normal University; and Researcher Ren Jie, Director of the Basic Theory Research Office of the same department. Focusing on the study and interpretation of the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee and the Party’s century-long historical experience, the experts presented their thoughts on theoretical issues such as the historical experience of the Party’s theoretical innovation, the new leap in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context, the Two Integrations [n3], whole-process people’s democracy, the Party’s self-revolution, the Chinese-path modernization [n4], and the new form of human civilization. Finally, Zhou Lisheng, Vice President of Jiangxi Normal University, delivered the concluding remarks and declared the conference successfully concluded.

Although the cloud-based conference could not achieve face-to-face exchanges among scholars, it also broke through spatial limitations. Participating in this symposium were over 300 experts, scholars, and graduate students from universities and research institutions across the country, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, CASS, the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC, Wuhan University, Southeast University, and Lanzhou University, as well as important academic journals such as *Marxist Studies* and *World Socialism Studies*. Scholars actively participated, spoke enthusiastically, and engaged in deep reflection. The combination of online and offline formats enhanced intellectual exchange among scholars and expanded the academic impact and promotional role of the conference.

云端会议虽然无法实现学者们面对面交流，但它同时也打破了空间限制。参加此次研讨会的有全国来自北京大学、清华大学、中国社会科学院、中共中央党校、武汉大学、东南大学、兰州大学等高校及科研院所的300余位专家学者和研究生，还有《马克思主义研究》《世界社会主义研究》等重要学术期刊。学者们积极参与，热情发言，深入思考。线上线下相结合的会议形式增强了学者间的思想碰撞，扩大了会议的学术影响和宣传作用。
