Academy of Marxism Holds Youth Symposium to Study General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Speech

On the occasion of the arrival of Youth Day (May Fourth), on the afternoon of April 28, the Academy of Marxism held a youth symposium in Conference Room 1237 to exchange views on studying General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech delivered during his inspection of Renmin University of China on April 25. Comrade Xin Xiangyang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Academy of Marxism, attended and presided over the symposium. Young staff members of the Academy of Marxism participated in the meeting.

五四青年节到来之际，4月28日下午马研院在1237会议室举办青年同志座谈会，围绕学习习近平总书记4月25日考察中国人民大学发表的重要讲话进行交流发言，马研院党委书记、副院长辛向阳同志出席并主持座谈会，马研院青年工作人员参加会议。

Secretary Xin Xiangyang first extended holiday greetings to the young comrades of the Academy of Marxism. Comrades Tian Kun from the Party Building and Party History Research Office, Chen Yongsheng from the Marxist Philosophy Research Office, Fang Tao from the Mao Zedong Thought Research Office, He Qin from the Contemporary World Socialism Research Office, and Zhuo Mingliang from the Foreign Communist Party Theory Research Office each delivered exchange speeches on themes such as “Answering the ‘Questions of the Era’,” “Accelerating the Construction of Philosophy and Social Sciences with Chinese Characteristics,” “Knowledge Innovation,” and “Striving to Be a Unifier of the ‘Classics Teacher’ and the ‘Human Teacher’.” [1]1 “Classics teacher” (经师) and “human teacher” (人师) are traditional Chinese terms: the former refers to a teacher who imparts canonical knowledge, the latter to one who models moral character and guides personal development. Xi Jinping used this phrase in his April 25, 2022 speech at Renmin University, urging educators to combine both roles.

辛向阳书记首先向马研院青年同志致以节日祝贺，党建党史研究室田坤同志、马克思主义哲学研究室陈永盛同志、毛泽东思想研究室方涛同志、当代世界社会主义研究室贺钦同志、国外共产党理论研究室禚明亮同志围绕“回答‘时代之题’”、“加快构建中国特色哲学社会科学”、“知识创新”、“努力做‘经师’与‘人师’的统一者”等主题分别做交流发言。

In his concluding remarks, Secretary Xin Xiangyang emphasized that young workers at the Academy of Marxism must firmly establish their ideals and convictions, striving to be believers, disseminators, and practitioners of the core socialist values; they must expand their research horizons, touch upon the essence of problems, and explain issues deeply, thoroughly, and vividly; they must profoundly grasp China’s unique history, culture, and national conditions, and strengthen research on the large number of new problems emerging in theory and practice; as philosophical and social science workers in the New Era, they must persist in achieving “clear direction, true doctrine, high scholarship, and upright conduct,” respond to the call of the times and listen to the voice of the people, consciously take as their mission answering the “questions of China, questions of the world, questions of the people, and questions of the era,” and strengthen knowledge innovation, theoretical innovation, and methodological innovation to crack major era-defining issues.

辛向阳书记在总结发言中强调马研院青年工作者要坚定理想信念，努力做社会主义核心价值观的信仰者、传播者、践行者；要扩展研究视野，触及问题本质，把问题讲深、讲透、讲活；要深刻把握中国独特的历史、文化、国情，加强对理论与实践中出现的大量新问题的研究；作为新时代哲学社会科学工作者，坚持做到“方向明、主义真、学问高、德行正”，响应时代号召、倾听人民呼声，自觉以回答“中国之问、世界之问、人民之问、时代之问”为己任，加强知识创新、理论创新、方法创新，破解重大时代课题。
