On the morning of May 11, Shi Taifeng, President and Party Group Secretary of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, conducted a research visit to the CASS Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, accompanied by Vice President and Deputy Party Group Secretary Gao Xiang. President Shi Taifeng fully affirmed the achievements made since the center’s establishment and put forward clear requirements for further deepening research, dissemination, and interpretation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, pointing the direction for the high-quality development of the center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. On the afternoon of May 11, the Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era (hereinafter referred to as the “Xi Thought Research Center”) jointly held a symposium with the Research Department for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era of the Institute of Marxism to study and comprehend the spirit of President Shi Taifeng’s speech.

Xin Xiangyang, Party Committee Secretary of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Executive Deputy Director of the Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, stated that President Shi Taifeng’s speech clarified the direction for further improving the work of the Xi Thought Research Center. Comrades from the Xi Thought Research Center and the Institute of Marxism must earnestly study, implement, and carry out the spirit of the speech. He pointed out that it is necessary to raise the political stance, earnestly shoulder the primary political task of researching, disseminating, and interpreting Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and fully exert the Xi Thought Research Center’s radiating and leading role; to prevent fragmentation in research, and make efforts to improve the comprehensiveness, systematicity, and scholarly rationality of research on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; to integrate and consolidate forces from multiple sides, adhere to high-starting-point planning and high-quality development, strive to produce a batch of high-quality research results, and cultivate a group of high-end talents for researching Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院党委书记、习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究中心执行副主任辛向阳表示，石泰峰院长的讲话为进一步做好习研中心工作明确了方向，习研中心和马研院的同志必须认真学习贯彻落实好讲话精神。他指出，要提高政治站位，切实担起研究宣传阐释习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想这一首要政治任务，充分发挥习研中心的辐射引领作用；要防止研究碎片化，在如何提高习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究的整体性、系统性、学理性上下功夫；要整合凝聚多方力量，坚持高起点谋划、高质量发展，着力推出一批高质量研究成果，打造一批研究习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的高端人才。

Gong Yun, Vice President of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Executive Deputy Director of the Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, stated that President Shi Taifeng’s research visit to the Xi Thought Research Center reflects the high importance the Academy’s Party Group places on the research work on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. We must enhance our political consciousness and theoretical consciousness regarding the research, dissemination, and interpretation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and implement the instructions of the Academy’s leadership; sort out the formation and development trajectory of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and improve the comprehensiveness of research; achieve an organic integration of political discourse and academic discourse, and improve the scholarly rationality of research; strengthen the construction of the talent team by both exercising existing research forces and cultivating students.

中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院副院长、习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究中心执行副主任龚云表示，石泰峰院长到习研中心调研，体现了院党组对习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究工作的高度重视。我们必须提高对研究宣传阐释习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的政治自觉和理论自觉，落实好院领导的指示；梳理习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想形成和发展的脉络，提高研究的整体性；实现政治话语与学术话语的有机结合，提高研究的学理性；从锻炼现有研究力量和培养学生两方面，加强人才队伍建设。

Chen Zhigang, Director of the Research Department for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, stated that it is necessary to combine research on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era with research on basic Marxist theories, combine comprehensive and systematic research with research on major frontier issues, make efforts to thoroughly understand, grasp, and implement the thought, drive talent cultivation through project research, and more effectively promote research work.

中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究部主任陈志刚表示，要将习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究与马克思主义基础理论研究相结合，将整体性系统性研究和重大前沿问题研究相结合，在学懂弄通做实上下功夫，通过项目研究带动人才培养，更有成效地推动研究工作。

Other comrades attending the meeting expressed that they would transform the guiding spirit of President Shi Taifeng’s instructions into motivation for conducting research, firm up the political direction, maintain political resolve, persist in conducting scholarship for the people, deepen and solidify research on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in their respective research fields, and welcome the 20th National Congress of the CPC with even more outstanding achievements.
