The 12th Academic Forum on Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context Successfully Held by the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences

On 2 July 2022, the 12th Academic Forum on Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was successfully held at the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Gannan Normal University. This academic forum was jointly hosted by the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Gannan Normal University, jointly organized by the Research Department of Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the School of Marxism of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the School of Marxism of Gannan Normal University, and the Research Center for the Revolutionary Spirit and Cultural Resources of the Communist Party of China of Gannan Normal University, and jointly co-organized by the editorial offices of *Studies on Marxism*, *Studies on World Socialism*, *Front*, *Theory and Review*, and *Journal of Red Culture*. The forum, with the theme “Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the New Leap in Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context,” was conducted through a combination of online and offline meetings.

2022年7月2日，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院第十二届马克思主义中国化学术论坛，在中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院和赣南师范大学成功举办。本次学术论坛由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院、赣南师范大学联合主办，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义中国化研究部、中国社会科学院大学马克思主义学院、赣南师范大学马克思主义学院、赣南师范大学中国共产党革命精神研究与文化资源研究中心联合承办，《马克思主义研究》编辑部、《世界社会主义研究》编辑部、《前线》编辑部、《理论与评论》编辑部、《红色文化学刊》编辑部联合协办。论坛以“习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想与马克思主义中国化新飞跃”为主题，以线上和线下会议相结合的方式进行。

At the opening ceremony of the forum, Secretary Xin Xiangyang of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Professor Zhu Xiaoli, President of Gannan Normal University, delivered speeches on behalf of the host units respectively. Secretary Xin Xiangyang proposed that we must deeply study and elucidate the scientific connotation, historical status, and great significance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; deeply study and elucidate the theoretical value and practical significance of the new leap in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context; and deeply study and elucidate the series of new concepts, new propositions, and new judgments put forward since the 18th National Congress of the CPC [1]1 The 18th National Congress of the CPC was held in November 2012, marking the beginning of the New Era under Xi Jinping’s leadership.. At the same time, Secretary Xin Xiangyang delivered a keynote report titled “The Path by Which Marxism Activates Chinese Civilization.” Researcher Lin Jianhua, Vice President of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, presided over the opening ceremony.

论坛开幕式上，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院辛向阳书记、赣南师范大学校长朱小理教授分别代表主办单位致辞。辛向阳书记提出，我们要深入研究阐释习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的科学内涵、历史地位和重大意义；要深入研究阐释马克思主义中国化新飞跃的理论价值和实践意义；深入研究阐释党的十八大以来提出的一系列新概念、新命题、新论断。同时，辛向阳书记作了题为“马克思主义激活中华文明的路径”的主旨报告。中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院副院长林建华研究员主持开幕式。

In the keynote report session, Professor Sun Xiguo from the School of Marxism of Peking University, Professor Wang Shuyin from the School of Marxism of Beijing Normal University, Professor Zhang Zhanbin, Dean of the School of Marxism of the Central Party School (National Academy of Governance), and Professor Zhou Lisheng, Vice President of Jiangxi Normal University, delivered keynote reports on the themes “The Original Contributions of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to Marxism,” “Basic Experiences of Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context,” “The Original Contributions of Xi Jinping’s Economic Thought,” and “Reflections on the Communist Party of China as the Highest Political Leadership Force,” respectively. Professor Qiu Xiaoyun, Vice President of Gannan Normal University, presided over the keynote report session.

In the first thematic speech session, Researcher Liu Zhiming, Director of the Research Department of Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, spoke on “The Marxist Theoretical Foundation of the Two Establishments” [2]2 The Two Establishments refer to establishing; Professor Chen Shifa, Vice President of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, on “A Multi-Dimensional Interpretation of Grasping Historical Initiative”; Researcher Li Jianguo, Executive Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Director of *Studies on Marxism*, on “The Adherence of Chinese Communists in the New Era to the People’s Standpoint”; Professor Zhang Zhidan, Dean of the School of Marxism of Shanghai Normal University, on “The Original Innovation of Ideological Work Thought in the New Era”; Associate Professor Wang Weiguo, Vice Dean of the School of Marxism of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, on “An Exploration of Spiritual Initiative from the Perspective of the Grand Historical View”; and Professor Yao Hongyue, Vice Dean of the School of Marxism of Beijing Technology and Business University, on “Several Understandings of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the Essence of Chinese Culture and Chinese Spirit.” Professor He Xinchun, Dean of the School of Marxism of Gannan Normal University, presided over this thematic speech session.

In the third thematic speech session, Assistant Researcher Yang Binbin from the Research Office of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics of the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences spoke on “The Rationality of the Concept of ‘New Form of Human Civilization’”; Lecturer Li Jian from the School of Marxism of Xiamen University on “The Multiple Implications of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Discourse on Whole-Process People’s Democracy”; Doctoral student Liu Qi from the School of Marxism of Nankai University on “Foreign Scholars’ General Views on Chinese-Path Modernization and Their Critical Analysis”; Associate Professor Cheng Xiaoqiang from the School of Marxism of Gannan Normal University on “The Logical Interaction Between the Original Aspiration and Founding Mission of the Communist Party of China and the Principal Contradiction in Society”; Graduate student Yang Chuan from the School of Philosophy and Social Development of Guizhou University on “The Contemporary Enlightenment of Engels’ View of Marriage and Family in *The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State*”; and Graduate student Wang Liyuan from the School of Marxism of Gannan Normal University on “The ‘Way’ and ‘Principle’ of China’s Response to the Changes Unseen in a Century in the World.” Professor Zheng Qing, Party Secretary of the School of Marxism of Gannan Normal University, presided over this thematic speech session.

The Academic Forum on Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context, as a regular forum of the Institute of Marxism, has been successfully held for eleven sessions since its inception, and this year marks the twelfth. This forum attracted high attention from experts, scholars, and academic peers in the fields of adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics nationwide. According to statistics, more than 150 experts, scholars, teachers, and students participated in this forum both online and offline.

马克思主义中国化学术论坛作为马克思主义研究院的常规性论坛，自创办以来已经成功举办了十一届，今年是第十二届。本次论坛引起全国各地的马克思主义中国化研究领域、中国特色社会主义理论研究领域的专家学者、学界同仁的高度关注。据统计，线上线下专家学者、老师、同学150余人参加了本次论坛。

By holding this forum, it helps us to take the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC [3] as a guide, adhere to the grand historical view, and comprehensively interpret the major achievements and historical experience of the Party’s century-long struggle; it helps to base ourselves on the great practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the New Era, systematically study and scientifically elucidate Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; it helps to deepen the theoretical research and propaganda elucidation of the century-long glorious course of adapting Marxism to the Chinese context; and it helps to strengthen academic exchanges among researchers on adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics nationwide, and promote the disciplinary construction of adapting Marxism to the Chinese context.

通过举办本次论坛，有助于我们以党的十九届六中全会精神为指引，坚持大历史观，全面解读党的百年奋斗重大成就和历史经验；有助于立足新时代中国特色社会主义伟大实践，系统研究、科学阐释习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想；有助于深化马克思主义中国化百年光辉历程的理论研究和宣传阐释；有助于加强全国马克思主义中国化研究工作者、中国特色社会主义理论研究者的学术交流，推动马克思主义中国化学科建设。
