The Party Branch of the Journal and Network Center Holds a Study Exchange Meeting on *Xi Jinping: The Governance of China* (Volume IV)

On the afternoon of July 21, 2022, the Party branch of the Journal and Network Center of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences held a study exchange meeting on *Xi Jinping: The Governance of China* (Volume IV). Researcher Xin Xiangyang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Academy of Marxism, attended the meeting and delivered a keynote speech. Researcher Zhang Jiangang, Secretary of the Party branch, presided over the meeting. More than ten scholars, including Researcher Li Jianguo and Researcher Wang Zhongbao, successively exchanged their views. The discussion was lively, the atmosphere was harmonious, and this study exchange meeting was highly fruitful.

Researcher Xin Xiangyang pointed out that studying *Xi Jinping: The Governance of China* (Volume IV) is very important. First, the four volumes should be studied in connection with each other. Second, it should be studied in connection with the era background. *Xi Jinping: The Governance of China* (Volume IV) has the following characteristics: First, it is a profound manifestation of the new leap in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times. [1]1 The 20th National Congress of the CPC refers to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, held in October 2022, which set the Party's direction for the following five years. Second, it contains many important theoretical judgments. Third, it emphasizes spiritual strength. Fourth, it presents a relatively large number of systemic concepts. In addition, *Xi Jinping: The Governance of China* (Volume IV) contains many theoretical innovations.

Researcher Li Jianguo pointed out that *Xi Jinping: The Governance of China* (Volume IV) embodies the characteristics of theoretical innovation during the period of the intersection of two historical centenaries. [2] The 21 special topics are a good embodiment of the Ten Clarifications and the Fourteen Perseverances. [3] *Xi Jinping: The Governance of China* (Volume IV) well embodies the fundamental viewpoints and main framework of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It is not only a book for theoretical study but also a reference book for our work. Researcher Wang Zhongbao pointed out that Chinese-path modernization is a comprehensive modernization and is essentially a socialist modernization. Regarding the generality of modernization, modernization is a historical process and state of reaching advanced development concepts supported by science, advanced scientific and technological equipment, developed material and spiritual elements, and high-level physical and psychological qualities. Marxism is a scientific theory. We take Marxism as the guide in the ideological sphere, which reflects the advanced nature of Chinese-path modernization in terms of guiding ideology. Under the guidance of the scientific theory of Marxism, Chinese-path modernization will certainly be able to realize the socialist modernization of the free and comprehensive development of human beings proposed by Marx.
