Call for Papers: “The Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and Opening Up a New Frontier in Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context and the Needs of the Times” Academic Symposium

The 20th National Congress of the CPC was a congress of great importance held at a critical moment when the entire Party and the people of all ethnic groups in the country are embarking on a new journey to comprehensively build a modern socialist country and advancing toward the second centenary goal. [1]1 The “second centenary goal” refers to the goal of building China into a modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, and harmonious by the middle of the 21st century, the centenary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The first centenary goal (the centenary of the CPC in 2021) was to complete the building of a moderately prosperous society. The congress held high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, adhered to Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the important thought of Three Represents, the Scientific Outlook on Development, and comprehensively implemented Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It analyzed the international and domestic situation, reviewed and summarized the work of the past five years and the great transformations of the New Era over the past decade, expounded on major issues such as opening up a new frontier in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times and the Chinese characteristics and essential requirements of Chinese-path modernization, and depicted the grand blueprint for comprehensively building a modern socialist country and comprehensively advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. It has pointed out the direction forward and established the guide to action for the development of the cause of the Party and the state on the new journey of the New Era and for achieving the second centenary goal. It is the crystallization of the wisdom of the Party and the people, a political declaration and program of action for the Party to unite and lead the people of all ethnic groups in the country to win new victories for socialism with Chinese characteristics, and a programmatic document of Marxism.

中共二十大是在全党全国各族人民迈上全面建设社会主义现代化国家新征程、向第二个百年奋斗目标进军的关键时刻召开的一次十分重要的大会。大会高举中国特色社会主义伟大旗帜，坚持马克思列宁主义、毛泽东思想、邓小平理论、“三个代表”重要思想、科学发展观，全面贯彻习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想，分析了国际国内形势，回顾总结了过去5年的工作和新时代10年的伟大变革，阐述了开辟马克思主义中国化时代化新境界、中国式现代化的中国特色和本质要求等重大问题，描绘了全面建设社会主义现代化国家、全面推进中华民族伟大复兴的宏伟蓝图，为新时代新征程党和国家事业发展、实现第二个百年奋斗目标指明了前进方向、确立了行动指南，是党和人民智慧的结晶，是党团结带领全国各族人民夺取中国特色社会主义新胜利的政治宣言和行动纲领，是马克思主义的纲领性文献。

The new journey and new mission require new responsibilities and new achievements. In order to deeply study and grasp the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, especially to deeply explore issues related to promoting the adaptation of Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times and opening up a new frontier in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times, so that we can consciously and comprehensively implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, carry forward the great founding spirit of the Party, [2]2 The “great founding spirit of the Party” refers to the spirit of the CPC as articulated by Xi Jinping in 2021, encompassing adherence to truth, ideals, original aspiration, mission, courage in sacrifice, and independence. remain confident and self-reliant, uphold fundamental principles and break new ground, forge ahead with vigor and determination, and strive bravely forward, in order to unite and strive for the comprehensive building of a modern socialist country and the comprehensive advancement of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Institute of Contemporary Chinese Thought and Culture (affiliated with the School of Marxism of Shenzhen University), jointly established with Shenzhen University, plans to hold an academic symposium titled “The Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and Opening Up a New Frontier in Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context and the Needs of the Times” in early December this year. This symposium will closely revolve around the conference theme and focus on discussing the following content:

新征程、新使命，要有新担当、新作为。为了深入学习和领会中共二十大精神，特别是深入探讨推进马克思主义中国化时代化、开辟马克思主义中国化时代化新境界的有关问题，俾使我们自觉全面贯彻习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想，弘扬伟大建党精神，自信自强、守正创新，踔厉奋发、勇毅前行，为全面建设社会主义现代化国家、全面推进中华民族伟大复兴而团结奋斗，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院与深圳大学联合成立的当代中国思想文化研究所（挂靠在深圳大学马克思主义学院）拟于今年12月初召开“中共二十大精神与开辟马克思主义中国化时代化新境界”学术研讨会。本次研讨会将紧密围绕会议主题，重点研讨如下内容：

Paper Requirements: All submitted papers must be new works that have not been published, with a word count of no more than 10,000 characters, and must include the author’s resume, an abstract of the paper, keywords, main text, and references. The theme should be clear, the viewpoint correct, and citations accurate.

稿件要求：所有应征论文均应为未发表的新作，字数在10000字以内，并附作者简历、论文摘要、关键词、正文、参考文献。要求主题鲜明、观点正确、引文准确。
