“Century of Historical Experience and Chinese-Path Modernization” Academic Forum and “The CPC’s Century of Struggle: Historical Experience Series” New Book Launch Successfully Held

On 14 May 2023, the “Century of Historical Experience and Chinese-Path Modernization” Academic Forum and the new book launch of “The CPC’s Century of Struggle: Historical Experience Series” were successfully held in Beijing. The event was co-hosted by the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Jinan Publishing House, and the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (UCASS). It was jointly organized by the Department of Studies on Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context of the Academy of Marxism of CASS and the School of Marxism of UCASS, and co-organized by *Marxist Studies*, *Studies on World Socialism*, and others.

2023年5月14日，由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院、济南出版社、中国社会科学院大学联合主办，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义中国化研究部、中国社会科学院大学马克思主义学院联合承办，《马克思主义研究》《世界社会主义研究》等协办的“百年历史经验与中国式现代化”学术论坛暨“党的百年奋斗历史经验丛书”新书发布会在京成功举办。

Experts and scholars from the Central Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Party School of the CPC Central Committee (National Academy of Governance), the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University, Nankai University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Minzu University of China, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Capital Normal University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Henan Polytechnic University, Tongren University, and other institutions attended the conference. Also present were editors and journalists from *Studies on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics*, *Party Building*, *Administrative Reform*, *China Youth Daily*, *Chinese Social Sciences Today*, the *Front* magazine of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC, Guangming Online, Party Building Online, CASS Online, the CCTV News Center, and Shandong Radio and Television Station.

Xin Xiangyang emphasized that the historical resolution [1]1 The historical resolution refers to the “Resolution of the CPC Central Committee on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party’s Century of Struggle,” adopted at the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee in November 2021. It summarizes the Party’s major achievements and ten historical experiences over its century of struggle. adopted at the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee profoundly reveals why we succeeded in the past and how we can continue to succeed in the future. It profoundly expounds why the CPC works, why Marxism works, and why socialism with Chinese characteristics works. It further provides deep answers to major questions of the era, such as what kind of socialism with Chinese characteristics to uphold and develop in the New Era and how to uphold and develop it, what kind of strong modern socialist country to build and how to build it, and what kind of long-term governing Marxist party to build and how to build it. It is a programmatic document shining with the truth of Marxism, a political declaration for Chinese Communists in the New Era to bear in mind their original aspiration and founding mission and to uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics, and a guide to action for the Party to lead all people in drawing on historical experience to create a new future and realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. It provides a classic text for further studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, enriching and developing the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics, further adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times, and advancing the great new project of Party building in the New Era.

辛向阳强调，党的十九届六中全会通过的历史决议，深刻揭示了过去我们为什么能够成功、未来我们怎样才能继续成功，深刻阐述了中国共产党为什么能、马克思主义为什么行、中国特色社会主义为什么好，并进一步深刻回答了新时代坚持和发展什么样的中国特色社会主义、怎样坚持和发展中国特色社会主义，建设什么样的社会主义现代化强国、怎样建设社会主义现代化强国，建设什么样的长期执政的马克思主义政党、怎样建设长期执政的马克思主义政党等重大时代课题，是一篇闪耀着马克思主义真理光辉的纲领性文献，是新时代中国共产党人牢记初心使命、坚持和发展中国特色社会主义的政治宣言，是党领导全体人民以史为鉴、开创未来，实现中华民族伟大复兴的行动指南。为我们进一步学习贯彻落实习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想、丰富和发展中国特色社会主义理论、进一步推动马克思主义中国化时代化、推进新时代党的建设新的伟大工程等提供了经典文本。

Wang Weiheng emphasized that “The CPC’s Century of Struggle: Historical Experience Series” has been selected for the Central Propaganda Department’s 2022 list of key publications for thematic publishing. The series takes the ten historical experiences summarized by the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee as its theme, employing vivid, fluent, and scholarly language and the latest materials to expound theoretical hot topics, using lively examples to explain profound truths, integrating emotion with reason, and proceeding from the small to the large, making it easy to read and understand. The publication of “The CPC’s Century of Struggle: Historical Experience Series” is of great significance for the academic and theoretical circles to deeply study and comprehend the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, to deeply research the historical experience of the Party’s century of struggle, and thereby to comprehensively and systematically study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

Tian Junlin emphasized that shortly after the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee adopted the “Resolution of the CPC Central Committee on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party’s Century of Struggle,” Jinan Publishing House, together with the Academy of Marxism of CASS, initiated the planning, writing, and publication of “The CPC’s Century of Struggle: Historical Experience Series.” The smooth publication of the series is due to the strong support of the Academy of Marxism of CASS and the authors of the series, as well as the attention and support of experts, scholars, and media friends.

田俊林强调，在党的十九届六中全会通过《中共中央关于党的百年奋斗重大成就和历史经验的决议》后不久，济南出版社就与中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院启动了“党的百年奋斗历史经验丛书”的策划、撰写、出版等工作。丛书的顺利出版，得益于中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院和丛书各位作者的鼎力支持，得益于专家学者、媒体朋友的关注和支持。

During the new book launch and presentation ceremony, Xin Xiangyang and Wang Weiheng jointly unveiled “The CPC’s Century of Struggle: Historical Experience Series.” Xin Xiangyang presented the series to Wang Lan, Director of the CASS Library, who in turn presented a collection certificate. At the same time, Xin Xiangyang delivered a keynote report titled “The Distinctive Advantages of Chinese-Path Modernization.”

During the keynote report session, Ni Degang, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, and Supervisory Expert at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee (National Academy of Governance), and Vice President of the Chinese Society for Scientific Socialism, delivered a report titled “The ‘Five Major Innovations’ of the Theory of Chinese-Path Modernization.” Wang Chuanli, Professor at the School of Marxism, Tsinghua University, delivered a report titled “National Conditions and World History: Contradictions Faced by Late-Developing Modernizing Countries.” Wang Shengsheng, Deputy Dean and Professor at the School of Marxism, Nankai University, delivered a report titled “The Modernizing State from the Perspective of Historical Materialism.” Liu Xuexia, Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Professor of the journal *Administrative Reform* at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee (National Academy of Governance), delivered a report titled “Advancing Chinese-Path Modernization through High-Quality Development.” Gong Yutao, Professor at the School of Marxism, Minzu University of China, delivered a report titled “The Fundamental Guarantee of Chinese-Path Modernization.” Hong Zhentao, Secretary of the Party Committee and Associate Professor at the School of Marxism, Henan Polytechnic University, and Doctoral Candidate at the School of Marxism, UCASS, delivered a report titled “The People-Centered Sentiment Embodied in the Five Characteristics of Chinese-Path Modernization.”

主题报告环节，中共中央党校（国家行政学院）教授、博士生导师、督学专家，中国科学社会主义学会副会长倪德刚，作了题为《中国式现代化理论的“五大创新”》的报告；清华大学马克思主义学院教授王传利作了题为《国情与世界历史：后发现代化国家面对的矛盾》的报告；南开大学马克思主义学院副院长、教授王生升作了题为《唯物史观视域中的现代化国家》的报告；中共中央党校（国家行政学院）《行政管理改革》杂志副主编、教授刘学侠作了题为《以高质量发展推进中国式现代化》的报告；中央民族大学马克思主义学院教授宫玉涛作了题为《中国式现代化的根本保证》的报告；河南理工大学马克思主义学院党委书记、副教授，中国社会科学院大学马克思主义学院博士研究生洪振涛作了题为《中国式现代化五大特征蕴含的人民情怀》的报告。
