Party Branch of the International Communist Movement Research Department of the Academy of Marxism Conducts Thematic Education Research Activity at Honghe University in Yunnan

On the morning of July 10, members of the Party branch of the International Communist Movement Research Department of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences conducted research at Honghe University in Yunnan Province. The research revolved around two themes: first, the distinctive experiences of Honghe University in deeply studying and implementing the thematic education activities of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; second, the university’s research status on Vietnam and Laos.

7月10日上午，中国社科院马研院国际共产主义运动研究部党支部成员到云南省红河学院进行调研。调研围绕两个主题展开：一是红河学院关于深入学习贯彻落实习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想主题教育活动的特色经验，二是该院对越南、老挝的研究状况。

Honghe University Party Committee Secretary Hong Bo received the research team. The symposium was chaired by Ma Hongbo, Dean of the School of Marxism. Participants in the discussion included Zhu Xin, member of the university Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department; Yang Shenxuan, member of the university Party Committee and Director of the Propaganda Department; Ye Shaofei, Deputy Director of the Institute of Country Studies; Shi Jianguang, Director of the Library; Professor Shao Jianping of the School of Marxism; and Liu Lian, Deputy Director of the Office, along with heads of other relevant departments.

红河学院校党委书记洪波接见了调研组。座谈会由马克思主义学院院长马洪波主持，学校党委委员、组织部部长朱欣、学校党委委员、宣传部部长杨申宣、国别研究院副院长叶少飞、图书馆馆长施建光、马克思主义学院教授邵建平、办公室副主任刘恋等相关部门负责人参与座谈。

Honghe University is a full-time public undergraduate institution in Yunnan Province, jointly established and managed by the province and Honghe Prefecture, with the province as the primary authority. The university has adopted the new concept of a “gateway university” [1]1 “Gateway university” (国门大学) refers to a university located in a border region that serves as a bridge for international educational and cultural exchange with neighboring countries. to build a new high ground for higher education openness in border areas. Since its founding, Honghe University has achieved rich results in conducting research on neighboring countries and in teaching and research cooperation.

红河学院是云南省与红河州“省州共建共管，以省为主”的全日制公办本科院校，该校以“国门大学”新理念打造沿边地区高等教育对外开放新高地。建校以来，红河学院在开展周边国家研究以及教学研究合作方面取得了丰富成果。

At the symposium, Party branch Secretary Pan Jin’e introduced the main purpose of the research team’s visit and briefly presented the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Zhu Xin, member of the Honghe University Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department, introduced the university’s implementation of thematic education activities. The thematic education activities have been fully rolled out, focusing on theoretical study, research and investigation, warning and rectification, and promoting development. In terms of research and investigation, the focus is on twelve aspects, and rectification and remediation are being advanced, with key efforts to solve problems in nine major areas. The university will continue to follow relevant requirements of Yunnan Province to further promote in-depth study, supervise implementation, carry out publicity and reporting, and deepen the thematic education activities.

座谈会上，支部书记潘金娥介绍了调研组来访的主要目的，并简要介绍了中国社科院马克思主义研究院。红河学院校党委委员、组织部部长朱欣介绍了红河学院开展主题教育活动的情况，主题教育活动全面展开，聚焦理论学习、调查研究、警示整改、推动发展，在调查研究方面主要聚焦十二个方面，并推动整改整治，重点解决九大方面的问题。并继续按照云南省相关要求，进一步推动深入学习，监督落实，开展好宣传报道等，深化主题教育活动。

Yang Shenxuan, member of the university Party Committee and Director of the Propaganda Department, introduced the distinctive highlights of the university’s work on deeply studying and implementing the thematic education of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. For example, the university adopts methods such as reading clubs, special guidance, a combination of red immersive education [2]2 “Red immersive education” (红色沉浸式教育) refers to educational activities that use immersive methods, such as visiting revolutionary sites or reenacting historical events, to instill revolutionary traditions and Party history. and negative-case warning education to carry out learning activities. In the thematic education activities, emphasis is also placed on theoretical propaganda and interpretation, as well as international exchange and international communication. The thematic education activities have been carried out comprehensively, solidly, and with considerable effectiveness.

校党委委员、宣传部部长杨申宣对学校关于深入学习贯彻落实习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想主题教育工作的特色亮点进行了介绍。例如，学校采取读书会、专题辅导、红色沉浸式教育与反面警示教育相结合等方式开展学习活动等。在主题教育活动中，还注重理论的宣传阐释，注重国际交流与国际传播。主题教育活动开展得全面扎实、颇有成效。

Ye Shaofei, Deputy Director of the Institute of Country Studies at Honghe University, introduced the university’s research status on Vietnam. Leveraging its geographical advantage of bordering Vietnam, Honghe University serves the construction of Yunnan Province’s center for radiating to South and Southeast Asia and cultivates comprehensive talents for regional and country studies. Research on Vietnam began as early as 2004. The university now hosts the Ministry of Education’s “Vietnam Research Center” and the National Ethnic Affairs Commission’s “Sri Lanka Research Center,” and has been approved for the Yunnan Province innovative discipline “Regional and Country Studies.” The university’s organized “Honghe River Basin Social Development Forum” and “Honghe River Basin University Presidents’ Forum” have considerable visibility and influence.

红河学院国别研究院副院长叶少飞对学校开展的越南研究状况进行了介绍。红河学院发挥毗邻越南的地理优势，服务云南省辐射南亚东南亚中心建设，培养区域国别研究综合人才。自2004年即开始对越南的研究，现有教育部“越南研究中心”和国家民委“斯里兰卡研究中心”，获批云南省创新学科“区域国别学”。学校组织的“红河流域社会发展论坛”和“红河流域大学校长论坛”有较大的知名度和影响力。

Professor Shao Jianping of the School of Marxism introduced the current research status on Vietnam and Laos at the school, and Deputy Director of the Library Shi Jianguang introduced the current status and advantages of research on the China-Vietnam border.

马克思主义学院教授邵建平介绍了学院关于越南、老挝的研究现状，图书馆副馆长施建光对关于中越边境研究的现状及优势进行介绍。

Researcher Pan Jin’e thanked Honghe University for its support of this research activity, stating that the research symposium yielded rich results and allowed learning from the distinctive work and activity experiences of Honghe University in the thematic education activities on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Researcher Pan Jin’e believes that Honghe University has distinctive features and advantages in utilizing its geographical location for research and cooperation on Vietnam and Laos, and expressed hope for further in-depth exchange and cooperation between the two sides in the future.
