On June 2, 2023, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the Symposium on Cultural Heritage and Development. [1]1 The Symposium on Cultural Heritage and Development was a meeting convened by the Chinese Communist Party in June 2023, at which Xi Jinping delivered a speech outlining the relationship between Chinese traditional culture and the Party’s current ideological project. Scientific atheism, as an outstanding achievement of human civilization and as the starting point and theoretical cornerstone of the Marxist worldview, is closely linked to the prominent characteristics of Chinese civilization—continuity, innovation, unity, inclusiveness, and peace—and should therefore contribute its own strength to building the modern civilization of the Chinese nation in the New Era.

In order to study, implement, and carry out the spirit of this important speech by General Secretary Xi Jinping and his important discourses on religious work, the “11th Forum on Scientific Atheism,” hosted by the Marxist Theoretical Research and Construction Project of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, is scheduled to be held in Wuhan on September 15–16, 2023. This forum is jointly organized by the Research Center for Science and Atheism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Chinese Atheism Society, and the School of Marxism of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The theme of the forum is: “Scientific Atheism and the Modern Civilization of the Chinese Nation.”

The forum adopts the principle of “participation based on submitted papers.” [2]2 “Participation based on submitted papers” (以文赴会) is a standard Chinese academic conference practice meaning that attendance is contingent on having a paper accepted through a review process, rather than being open to all registrants. We welcome experts and scholars from national research institutions, universities and colleges, Party schools, and cadre academies, as well as comrades from relevant practical departments, to actively submit papers and attend. All submitted papers must be new works that have not been published before, and should include the paper title, abstract, keywords, author biography, contact phone number, and email address. The deadline for paper submission is August 30, 2023. After expert review, we will issue formal invitations to attend the forum to those whose papers are selected. The submission email address for the forum is: kxwslluntan@163.com. (Note: In the email address, “ll” are lowercase letters L L, not the number 11.)

Thank you for your enthusiastic support and active participation in the cause of scientific atheism!
