The 10th International Forum on Socialism Convened

On November 4, the 10th International Forum on Socialism convened in Guilin, China. The theme of this forum was “Socialist Modernization: Theory and Practice.” Participating experts engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions on the rich connotations and global significance of Chinese-path modernization, the relationship and trends between socialist modernization and the world socialist movement, and the national characteristics and common features of socialist modernization.

11月4日，第十届社会主义国际论坛在中国桂林召开。本届论坛主题为“社会主义现代化：理论与实践”。与会专家围绕中国式现代化的丰富内涵与世界意义、社会主义现代化与世界社会主义运动的关系与趋向、社会主义现代化的各国特色与共同特征展开了深入交流与研讨。

Xie Mingjun, Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Khamlasi Chobpanh, Vice President of the Lao Academy of Social and Economic Sciences; Jin Hualun, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Party Committee; and He Zubin, Party Secretary of Guangxi Normal University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Xin Xiangyang, Party Secretary and Director of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, presided over the opening ceremony.

越南社会科学翰林院副院长谢明俊、老挝社会与经济科学院副院长康拉曦·乔本潘、广西壮族自治区党委宣传部副部长金化伦、广西师范大学党委书记贺祖斌出席开幕式并致辞。中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院党委书记、院长辛向阳主持开幕式。

Xin Xiangyang, along with Wang Tingda, Dean of the School of Marxism at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences; Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Director of the Institute of Chinese Studies at the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Ousavanh Thiengthepvongsa, Director of the Institute of Socio-Economic Policy Research at the Lao Academy of Social and Economic Sciences; and Lin Jianhua, Vice President of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, among nearly 40 Chinese and foreign experts, delivered speeches at the plenary session. During the discussion segment, scholars from the three countries debated issues such as cross-national comparisons of socialist modernization, the current international situation, and building a community with a shared future for mankind.

辛向阳以及中国科学院大学马克思主义学院院长王庭大、越南社会科学翰林院中国研究所所长阮春强、老挝社会与经济科学院社会经济政策研究所所长吴沙万·天特翁萨、中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院副院长林建华等近40位中外专家作了大会发言。在讨论环节，三国学者就社会主义现代化的各国比较、当前国际形势与构建人类命运共同体等问题进行了讨论。

Participating scholars held that strengthening the study and summarization of the theory and practice of socialist modernization helps us grasp the laws of history, fortify historical confidence, enhance historical consciousness, and take the historical initiative, thereby writing a new chapter in the history of scientific socialism in the 21st century on the new journey of comprehensively advancing socialist modernization.

与会学者认为，加强对社会主义现代化理论与实践的研究与总结，有助于我们把握历史规律、坚定历史自信、增强历史自觉、掌握历史主动，在全面推进社会主义现代化的新征程上谱写科学社会主义在21世纪的历史新篇。

Over one hundred experts and scholars from China, Vietnam, and Laos conducted discussions around three topics: “Marxism and the Theory of Modernization,” “Chinese-Path Modernization and the World Socialist Movement,” and “The General Laws of Modernization and the Universal Laws of Socialist Modernization.”

来自中国、越南和老挝的百余位专家学者围绕“马克思主义与现代化理论”“中国式现代化与世界社会主义运动”“现代化的一般规律与社会主义现代化的普遍规律”三个议题进行研讨。

After the forum, the heads of the three delegations discussed and reached a preliminary consensus on the theme, time, and location of the 11th International Forum on Socialism, to be held in Laos in 2024.

会后，三方团长就2024年将在老挝举行的第十一届社会主义国际论坛的主题、时间、地点等进行了商议并达成初步共识。

The forum was jointly hosted by the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, the Lao Academy of Social and Economic Sciences, and Guangxi Normal University. It was jointly organized by the Research Department of the International Communist Movement of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the School of Marxism of Guangxi Normal University, and the Guangxi University Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Research Center for Marxist Theory and Regional Practice.

论坛由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院、越南社会科学翰林院和老挝社会与经济科学院、广西师范大学联合主办，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院国际共产主义运动研究部、广西师范大学马克思主义学院与广西高校人文社科重点研究基地马克思主义理论与区域实践研究中心共同承办。
