The 10th Forum on the Theory and Practice of Ruling Party Building Successfully Held at East China Normal University

On June 16, the 10th Forum on the Theory and Practice of Ruling Party Building, jointly hosted by the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, East China Normal University, and the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was grandly held at East China Normal University. Centering on the theme of the original contributions of Xi Jinping’s important thought on Party building, experts and scholars from across the country engaged in lively discussion.

6月16日，由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院、华东师范大学、中国科学院大学联合主办的第十届执政党建设理论与实践论坛在华东师范大学隆重举行。围绕习近平总书记关于党的建设的重要思想的原创性贡献这一主题，来自全国各地的专家学者进行热烈研讨。

Mei Bing, Secretary of the Party Committee of East China Normal University, attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered a speech. On behalf of East China Normal University, she extended a warm welcome to the leaders, experts, and scholars participating in the forum and expressed congratulations on the convening of this forum. Secretary Mei Bing pointed out that Xi Jinping’s important thought on Party building provides scientific guidance for Party building in the New Era [n1] and provides a fundamental basis for universities to fully implement the Party’s educational policy and fulfill the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. She emphasized that East China Normal University is the first socialist normal university established under the leadership of the Communist Party of China after the founding of New China, possessing a glorious revolutionary tradition and red genes. The holding of this forum will help East China Normal University better build the disciplines of Marxist theory and the history and building of the CPC, better shoulder the heavy responsibility of talent cultivation, and improve and strengthen the university’s Party building work with higher quality. Gu Hongliang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of East China Normal University, presided over the opening ceremony.

华东师范大学党委书记梅兵出席论坛开幕式并致辞，她代表华东师大对参加论坛的各位领导、专家学者表示热烈欢迎，并对本次论坛的召开表示祝贺。梅兵书记指出，习近平总书记关于党的建设的重要思想，为新时代党的建设提供了科学指引，为高校全面贯彻党的教育方针、落实立德树人根本任务提供了根本遵循。她强调，华东师范大学是新中国成立后在中国共产党领导下组建的第一所社会主义师范大学，具有光荣的革命传统和红色基因。本次论坛的举行，有助于华东师大更好建设马克思主义理论和中共党史党建学科，更好肩负起人才培养的重任，更高质量地加强和改进学校党的建设工作。华东师范大学党委副书记、副校长顾红亮主持开幕式。

Leaders and experts including Chen Zhigang, Vice President of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Wang Tingda, Director of the Research Center for the History and Building of the CPC at the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; and Li Junru, former Vice President of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, respectively delivered speeches and gave keynote addresses at the opening ceremony.

Chen Zhigang emphasized that Xi Jinping’s important thought on Party building is a scientific summary of the theoretical development and practical experience of Party building in the New Era, an important component of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and the latest achievement in adapting Marxist Party-building theory to the Chinese context and the needs of the times. The important thought on the Party’s self-revolution has rich connotations and profound implications. First, it is necessary to grasp the historical initiative of the Party’s self-revolution from the perspective of historical materialism; second, to grasp the dialectical unity of “change” and “constancy” in the Party’s self-revolution through the Party’s nature, purpose, mission, and responsibility; and finally, to grasp the mutual relationship between the Party’s self-revolution and social revolution from the dialectics of subject and object.

陈志刚强调，习近平总书记关于党的建设的重要思想是对新时代党的建设理论发展和实践经验的科学总结，是习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的重要组成部分，是马克思主义建党学说中国化、时代化的最新成果。党的自我革命重要思想具有丰富内涵和深刻意蕴，首先要从唯物史观的高度把握党自我革命历史的主动性，其次要在党的性质宗旨、使命担当中把握党的自我革命“变”与“不变”的辩证统一，最后要从主客体辩证法来把握党的自我革命与社会革命的相互关系。

Wang Tingda pointed out that to govern the country, one must first govern the Party; only when the Party thrives can the country be strong, making the Party’s self-revolution extremely necessary. The proposal of the thought on the Party’s self-revolution marks that our Party’s understanding of the laws of Party building has reached a new height; comprehensive and strict governance of the Party is the great practice of the Party’s self-revolution in the New Era; and the fight against corruption is the most thorough self-revolution. He also discussed that in the disciplinary construction of the history and building of the CPC, on the one hand, attention should be paid to specific “points,” while also maintaining long-term thinking; on the other hand, attention should be paid to the major issue of how the Party maintains its advanced nature and purity, and how to ensure the Party forever becomes the strong leading core of our cause.

王庭大指出，治国必先治党、党兴才能国强，党的自我革命十分必要。党的自我革命思想的提出，标志着我们党对党的建设规律的认识达到了一个新的高度；全面从严治党是新时代党的自我革命的伟大实践；反腐败是最彻底的自我革命。他还谈到，在中共党史党建学科建设上，一方面，既要关注具体的“点”，又要有长线思维；另一方面，要关注党如何保持先进性和纯洁性、如何让党永远成为我们事业的坚强领导核心这一重大课题。

Li Junru delivered a keynote address on the Party’s self-revolution and the “Second Integration.” [n2] He believed that since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, [n3] General Secretary Xi Jinping has found a weapon to solve the three major issues of the times, namely the “Two Integrations.” [n4] Among them, the “Second Integration” systematically answers the three major questions of why our Party must engage in self-revolution, why it can engage in self-revolution, and how to advance self-revolution, thereby forming our Party’s scientific understanding of self-revolution.

李君如围绕党的自我革命与“第二个结合”作主题发言。他认为，党的十八大以来，习近平总书记找到了破解三大时代课题的一个武器，就是“两个结合”，其中“第二个结合”系统回答了我们党为什么要自我革命、为什么能自我革命、怎么样推进自我革命三大重大课题，从而形成了我们党的自我革命的科学认识。

A total of 13 experts delivered keynote speeches at this forum, conducting in-depth discussions around

本次论坛共有13位专家作大会主题发言，围绕习近平总书记关于党的建设的重要思想展开深入研讨。山西省人大常委会原副秘书长、山西财经大学二级教授顾昭明，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院党建党史研究室主任田坤、《观察与思考》主编黄宇分别主持并点评。

This forum set up four sub-forums, where participating experts and scholars engaged in in-depth exchanges around four important topics: “Research on General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Thoughts on Party Building,” “Research on Leading Great Social Revolution with Great Self-Revolution,” “Research on the Theory and Practice of Solving the Unique Problems of a Large Party,” and “Party Affairs Management and Talent Cultivation.” They shared their research results and experiences from different perspectives, providing important references for further strengthening the study of the theory and practice of Party building.

本次论坛设有四个分论坛，与会专家学者分别围绕“习近平总书记关于党的建设的重要思想研究”、“以伟大自我革命引领伟大社会革命研究”、“破解大党独有难题的理论与实践研究”、“党务管理与人才培养”等四个重要议题展开深入交流，从不同角度分享了各自的研究成果和经验，为进一步加强党的建设理论与实践研究提供了重要参考。

The closing ceremony of the forum was presided over by Zhao Zhengqiao, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Marxism at East China Normal University. Representatives from each sub-forum reported and presented their discussion results, and Researcher Dai Lixing, Deputy Director of the Research Department of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era at the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered a concluding summary speech for the forum.

论坛闭幕式由华东师范大学马克思主义学院党委书记赵正桥主持。各分论坛代表发言汇报各自讨论成果，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究部副主任戴立兴研究员作论坛总结发言。

Dai Lixing highly praised the successful holding of this forum. He believed that this forum promoted research on General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on Party building, explored its main content, internal logic, original contributions, and great significance, and achieved some theoretical results. The profound nature of the forum’s discussion themes, the richness of the conference content, as well as the emphasis on cultivating young Party building talents and focusing on practical Party building research, are all commendable. It is believed that on the basis of summing up experience, the forum will get better and better.

戴立兴高度评价了本次论坛的成功举办，他认为本次论坛促进了对习近平总书记关于党的建设的重要思想的研究，探讨了其主要内容、内在逻辑、原创性贡献、重大意义，取得了一些理论成果。本次论坛研讨主题之深刻、会议内容之丰富，以及注重对青年党建人才培养、关注党建实务研究等方面都是值得称赞的。相信在总结经验基础上，论坛将会越办越好。

This forum was organized by the Research Department of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era at the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the School of Marxism at East China Normal University, the School of Marxism at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Institute for Research on the History and Construction of the Communist Party of China at East China Normal University. It was co-organized by the editorial departments of *Marxist Studies*, *World Socialist Studies*, and *Ideological and Political Course Research*, as well as the East China Normal University Base of the Shanghai Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
