Symposium on the Publication of *Research on the Basic Issues of the Two Integrations* Held

China Social Sciences Net News (Reporter Wang Chunyan) On June 7, the symposium on the publication of *Research on the Basic Issues of the Two Integrations* was held in Beijing. Zhen Zhanmin, Vice President and Member of the Party Leadership Group of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Experts and scholars from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Central Party School (National Academy of Governance), Beijing Normal University, Renmin University of China, Peking University, and Tsinghua University participated in the symposium and conducted in-depth discussions on the book’s writing characteristics and publication value, as well as how to further advance research on the basic issues of the Two Integrations.

中国社会科学网讯（记者王春燕）6月7日，《“两个结合”基本问题研究》出版座谈会在京召开。中国社会科学院副院长、党组成员甄占民出席会议并致辞。来自中国社会科学院、中共中央党校（国家行政学院）、北京师范大学、中国人民大学、北京大学、清华大学的专家学者参加座谈会，并就该书写作特色与出版价值、如何进一步做好“两个结合”基本问题研究等内容进行了深入研讨。

Zhen Zhanmin stated that the Two Integrations profoundly reveal the inner mechanism of Marxism’s innovative development in China, greatly deepen the understanding of the laws governing adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times, and also point the correct direction for continuously opening up new horizons in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times. As a brilliant exemplar of the Two Integrations, Xi Jinping Thought on Culture consciously adheres to and creatively applies the Marxist worldview and methodology, examining and resolving contemporary Chinese cultural issues from the perspective of a grand view of history, a grand view of culture, and a grand view of the era, endowing cultural development with a deeper historical foundation, a broader cultural horizon, and more distinctive characteristics of the times.

甄占民表示，“两个结合”深刻揭示了马克思主义在中国创新发展的内在机理，极大深化了对马克思主义中国化时代化的规律性认识，也为不断开辟马克思主义中国化时代化的新境界指明了正确方向。作为“两个结合”的光辉典范，习近平文化思想自觉坚持和创造性地运用马克思主义世界观和方法论，以大历史观、大文化观、大时代观考察和解决当代中国的文化问题，赋予文化发展以更深厚的历史底蕴、更广阔的文化视野、更鲜明的时代特色。

Zhen Zhanmin stated that only by deepening research and interpretation, truly clarifying and thoroughly explaining the basic issues of the Two Integrations, can the practical process of the Party’s innovative theory be effectively advanced. Philosophy and social science workers must adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, carry out interdisciplinary and organized scientific research, strengthen research on fundamental and originary issues, and continuously and deeply advance the research and interpretation of the Two Integrations, providing academic support for building the modern civilization of the Chinese nation. *Research on the Basic Issues of the Two Integrations* adheres to the unity of political nature and academic rationality, the unity of ideological content and knowledge content, fully incorporates the research achievements of the social science and theoretical circles, and also contains many innovations. It is believed that this book can provide an important reference for the ideological and theoretical circles to deeply study the Two Integrations and offer useful assistance for Party cadres and members to study and understand the Two Integrations.

甄占民表示，只有深化研究阐释，真正把“两个结合”的基本问题讲清讲透，才能有效推进党的创新理论的实践进程。哲学社会科学工作者要坚持以习近平文化思想为指导，开展跨学科、有组织的科研，加强基础性、元点性问题研究，持续深入推进“两个结合”研究阐释，为建设中华民族现代文明提供学理支撑。《“两个结合”基本问题研究》坚持政治性和学理性相统一、思想性和知识性相统一，充分吸纳社科理论界的研究成果，也有不少创新之处。相信该书能为思想理论界深入研究“两个结合”提供重要参考，为党员干部学习领会“两个结合”提供有益帮助。

Song Yuehong, Deputy Director of the Institute of Contemporary China Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, believes that *Research on the Basic Issues of the Two Integrations* is oriented towards the two overall situations [1]1 The “two overall situations” (两个大局) refers to the overall situation of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the overall situation of changes unseen in a century in the world., combining history with the era, and theory with practice. It focuses centrally on the basic issues concerning the Two Integrations, such as philosophical issues, historical issues, theoretical issues, and practical issues, profoundly grasps the historical background, ideological connotations, spiritual character, contemporary value, and great significance of the Two Integrations, profoundly highlights the historical foundation and development trajectory of the Two Integrations, and profoundly reveals the Marxist worldview and methodology they contain, as well as the positions, viewpoints, and methods that run through them, deepening and expanding the systematic and theoretical research on the important thought of the Two Integrations. Yang Geng, former Vice President of Beijing Normal University, stated that fine traditional Chinese culture and Marxism share common points and points of convergence. These common points and points of convergence are the theoretical premise and theoretical basis for the integration of the basic tenets of Marxism with fine traditional Chinese culture, and are the inherent stipulations that enable fine traditional Chinese culture to integrate with the basic tenets of Marxism. We should take the practice of Chinese-path modernization as the coordinate of thought, seek the common points and points of convergence between Marxism and fine traditional Chinese culture, and then carry out creative transformation and innovative development of those elements of fine traditional Chinese culture that share common points and points of convergence with Marxism, integrating the two into one to create a new, organically unified cultural life entity.

北京师范大学原副校长杨耕表示，中华优秀传统文化与马克思主义具有共同之点、契合之处。这种共同之点、契合之处是马克思主义基本原理同中华优秀传统文化相结合的理论前提、理论依据，是中华优秀传统文化能够同马克思主义基本原理相结合的内在规定性。应当以中国式现代化这一实践为思维坐标，寻找马克思主义和中华优秀传统文化之间的共同之点、契合之处，进而对那些与马克思主义具有共同之点、契合之处的中华优秀传统文化进行创造性转化、创新性发展，并使二者融为一体，造就一个有机统一的新的文化生命体。

Zang Fengyu, Dean of the School of Philosophy and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at Renmin University of China, stated that the book *Research on the Basic Issues of the Two Integrations* profoundly explains the internal constituent elements and interrelationships of the Two Integrations, and deeply interprets why the Second Integration is another ideological emancipation [2]2 The “Second Integration” (第二个结合) refers to the integration of the basic tenets of Marxism with fine traditional Chinese culture, which is described as “another ideological emancipation” because it opens up new possibilities for cultural and theoretical innovation beyond the first integration (with China’s specific realities).. Through reading this book, we deeply recognize that the integration of the basic tenets of Marxism with China’s specific realities and with fine traditional Chinese culture is not only a historical fact spanning over a hundred years, but also a historical necessity and a scientific method.
