Chen Zhigang, Vice President of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Leads Delegation on Academic Visits to Greece, Cyprus and Turkey

From July 8 to 17, 2024, Chen Zhigang, researcher and Vice President of the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), led a delegation on academic visits to Greece, Cyprus and Turkey. The delegation members included Dai Lixing, researcher and Deputy Director of the Research Department on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era of the CASS Academy of Marxism; Zhang Fujun, associate researcher and Director of the Political Economy Research Office of the Department of Marxist Principles of the CASS Academy of Marxism; Dr. Zhang Xiaomin of the editorial office of *Studies on Marxism*; and Dr. Wang Zhen of the editorial offices of *International Critical Thought* and *World Review of Political Economy*.

2024年7月8日至17日，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院副院长陈志刚研究员率代表团出访希腊、塞浦路斯和土耳其开展学术交流。代表团成员有中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究部副主任戴立兴研究员、中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义原理研究部政治经济学研究室主任张福军副研究员、《马克思主义研究》编辑部张晓敏博士、《国际思想评论》和《世界政治经济学评论》编辑部王珍博士。

From July 8 to 10, the group conducted academic exchanges in Athens, Greece. They held discussions with Professor Davor Maladas, Head of the Department of Social Policy at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences. They investigated the state of Greek capitalism in crisis, the current situation of the Greek working class, the dissemination and research status of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in Greece, and cooperation between the Belt and Road Initiative and Greece.

7月8日至10日团组在希腊雅典进行学术交流。与希腊潘泰翁大学社会政策系主任达沃·马洛达斯教授座谈。调研了危机中的希腊资本主义、希腊工人阶级现状、以及习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想在希腊的传播与研究现状、“一带一路”倡议与希腊合作等情况。

From July 10 to 12, the delegation conducted academic exchanges in Cyprus. They held discussions with Menelaos Menelaou, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Prometheus Research Institute in Cyprus; Professor Costas Gouliamos, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Prometheus Research Institute; Vera Polycarpou, member of the Central Committee of the Progressive Party of Working People of Cyprus (AKEL) and head of AKEL’s International Relations and European Policy; Christosomous Pashiardis, Director of the Archives of the Prometheus Research Institute and head of AKEL’s Ideology Department; Pavlos Kalosinatos, Director of the Cyprus Labour Institute and member of AKEL; and Dr. Konstantinos Stylianou, member of the Prometheus Scientific Committee and member of AKEL. The delegation investigated the development trends of left-wing political parties in Cyprus, AKEL’s policy positions on trade unions, the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on Cyprus, and the dissemination of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in Cyprus.

7月10日至12日，团组在塞浦路斯进行学术交流。与塞浦路斯普罗米修斯研究所董事会主席梅内洛斯·梅内劳，普罗米修斯研究所董事会副主席科斯塔斯·古利亚莫斯教授，塞浦路斯劳动人民进步党中央委员会成员维拉·波利卡普鲁（塞浦路斯劳动人民进步党国际关系与欧洲政策负责人），普罗米修斯研究所档案馆馆长克里斯托索莫斯·帕希亚迪斯（塞浦路斯劳动人民进步党思想部负责人），塞浦路斯劳动研究所主任帕夫洛斯·卡洛辛纳托斯（塞浦路斯劳动人民进步党成员），普罗米修斯科学委员会成员康斯坦丁诺斯·斯蒂利亚努博士（塞浦路斯劳动人民进步党成员）等进行座谈。调研了塞浦路斯左翼政党的发展态势、塞浦路斯劳动人民进步党对工会的政策主张，以及“一带一路”倡议对塞浦路斯的影响、习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想在塞浦路斯的传播等问题。

The Prometheus Research Institute in Cyprus is a well-known think tank in the country. Its Vice Chairman, Professor Costas Gouliamos, is a former President of the European University Cyprus, a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in the United Kingdom. He currently also serves as Director of the China Research Center at the Prometheus Research Institute in Cyprus. This research center was jointly established by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the European University Cyprus, and it is the 14th overseas research center co-founded by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences with world-renowned universities. Professor Costas Gouliamos actively supports the three major global initiatives proposed by China—the Global Civilization Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, and the Global Security Initiative—and has made positive contributions to telling China’s story well and building a positive overseas image of China.

塞浦路斯普罗米修斯研究所是塞浦路斯知名智库，该所董事会副主席科斯塔斯·古利亚莫斯教授是塞浦路斯欧洲大学前校长、欧洲科学与艺术院院士以及英国皇家艺术学会院士，目前还担任塞浦路斯普罗米修斯研究所中国研究中心主任。这个研究中心是由中国社会科学院与塞浦路斯欧洲大学一起创建，也是中国社会科学院与世界著名大学一起创建的第14个海外研究中心。科斯塔斯·古利亚莫斯教授积极拥护中国提出的“三大全球倡议”，即全球文明倡议、全球发展倡议和全球安全倡议，为讲好中国故事、树立中国良好海外形象作出积极贡献。

The Progressive Party of Working People of Cyprus (AKEL) was founded in August 1926. It is the second-largest political party in Cyprus and was once the only ruling communist party among European Union member states. Christosomous Pashiardis, head of AKEL’s Ideology Department, has served as the head of the organizing committee of the Nicosia Book Fair (the largest book fair in Cyprus) since 2016, and was invited to participate in the World Socialism Forum in November 2023.

塞浦路斯劳动人民进步党成立于1926年8月，也是塞浦路斯第二大党，曾是欧盟国家中唯一执政的共产党。塞浦路斯劳动人民进步党思想部负责人克里斯托索莫斯·帕希亚迪斯自2016年以来一直担任尼科西亚书展（塞浦路斯最大的书展）组委会的负责人，并于2023年11月受邀参加世界社会主义论坛。

From July 12 to 17, the delegation conducted academic exchanges in Ankara and Istanbul, Türkiye. They held discussions with Turkish scholars of China studies and left-wing organizations on topics such as how to tell China’s story well, enhance China’s overseas image, and the current status and future development of left-wing organizations in Türkiye.

7月12日至17日，团组在土耳其安卡拉和伊斯坦布尔进行学术交流。与土耳其中国学研究者、左翼组织就如何讲好中国故事、提升中国海外形象，以及土耳其左翼组织现状与未来发展等进行座谈。

The delegation held discussions with Sem Kizilchek, President of the Turkish Socialist Research Association; Deniz Kizilchek, researcher at the Turkish Socialist Research Association; Gulizar Ozkaya, researcher at the Turkish Socialist Research Association; and Halit Beri, researcher at the Turkish Socialist Research Association. The exchanges covered topics including the rise of world socialist thought in the context of opposing hegemonism, the development of left-wing political parties in Türkiye, and cooperation between the Belt and Road Initiative and Türkiye.

团组与土耳其社会主义研究协会会长塞姆·基齐尔切克、土耳其社会主义研究协会德尼兹·基齐尔切克研究员、土耳其社会主义研究协会古丽扎尔·奥兹卡亚研究员、土耳其社会主义研究协会哈雷丁·贝利研究员等进行座谈。调研从反对霸权主义与世界社会主义思潮兴起、土耳其左翼政党发展情况、“一带一路”倡议与土耳其合作情况等进行交流。

陈志刚副院长向塞姆·基齐尔切克会长赠送《习近平著作选读》（第一卷）（第二卷）英文版等图书

The delegation exchanged views with Professor Giray Fidan of the Department of Oriental Languages, Faculty of Letters, Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, and graduate student Emin from Middle East Technical University (formerly Ankara University) on themes such as “mutual learning between Chinese and Turkish civilizations” and “Sino-Turkish cultural cooperation.” Professor Giray Fidan is a renowned Turkish translator and sinologist. He has translated classic works including *Xi Jinping: Quotes from the Classics*, *The Analects*, *Zhuangzi*, *Cat Country*, and *The Muslim Funeral*. His translation of *The Art of War* is the first direct translation from classical Chinese into Turkish. He received the Special Book Award of China’s Youth Achievement Award at the 10th edition. Professor Giray Fidan has long been engaged in research on Sino-Turkish relations, dedicated to introducing Chinese culture to the Turkish people, and has made outstanding contributions to promoting Chinese culture in Türkiye and cultural exchanges between China and Western countries. Emin primarily studies geopolitics and focuses on the impact of China’s Belt and Road Initiative on Türkiye.

团组与土耳其安卡拉哈茲巴伊拉姆大学文学院东方语系教授吉来、中东技术大学（前身是安卡拉大学）硕士研究生艾敏就“中土文明交流互鉴”“中土文化合作”等主题进行了交流。吉来教授是土耳其著名翻译家、汉学家，曾翻译过《平语近人》《论语》《庄子》《猫城记》和《穆斯林的葬礼》等经典书籍，翻译出版的《孙子兵法》是首个从汉语文言文直接翻译成土耳其语的译本，曾获第十届中华图书特殊贡献奖青年成就奖。吉来教授长期从事中土关系研究，致力于向土耳其民众介绍中国文化，为推动中国文化在土耳其传播以及中国与西方国家文化交流作出突出贡献。艾敏主要从事地缘政治研究，关注中国“一带一路”倡议对土耳其的影响。

The delegation engaged in academic exchanges with Professor Eyüp Sarıtaş, Head of the Chinese Language Department, Faculty of Letters, Istanbul University, on themes such as “exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and Western civilizations” and “overseas dissemination of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.” Professor Eyüp Sarıtaş is a renowned Turkish sinologist. He has participated in the 13th International Conference on Chinese Language Teaching and the First World Chinese Language Symposium at Peking University, as well as the First Turkish Symposium on Chinese Language Teaching. He has published works including *Turkish Sinology Since 1935*, *Linguistic, Cultural, and Ethnic Diversity in a Global Perspective*, and *Chinese Studies on the Xiongnu (1919-1965)*.

团组与伊斯坦布尔大学文学院中文系主任阿尤布·撒勒塔史教授就“中西方文明的交流与互鉴”“习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的海外传播”等主题进行学术交流。阿尤布·撒勒塔史教授是土耳其著名汉学家，曾参加第十三届国际汉语教学研讨会暨北京大学首届世界汉语研讨会、土耳其首届汉语教学研讨会，出版《1935年以来的土耳其汉学研究》《在全球视角下语言文化和民族多样性》《中国的匈奴研究（1919-1965）》等。

Vice President Chen Zhigang led the delegation in in-depth discussions with research institutions friendly to China and knowledgeable about China, left-wing scholars, and left-wing political parties in Greece, Cyprus, and Türkiye. They actively promoted Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and reached multiple consensuses on academic exchanges and cooperation between the two sides, successfully completing the visit mission.

陈志刚副院长带领团组与希腊、塞浦路斯和土耳其知华友华研究机构、左翼学者、左翼政党等进行深入座谈，积极宣介习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想，并就双方开展学术交流与合作达成多项共识，圆满完成了出访任务。
