The 11th CASS Forum on Scientific Socialism Successfully Held

To deeply study, publicize, and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, and to deeply research and elucidate the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the Symposium on Cultural Heritage and Development, on September 21, the 11th CASS Forum on Scientific Socialism, co-hosted by the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, and Xi’an University of Technology, was held in Xi’an.

为深入学习宣传贯彻党的二十届三中全会精神，深入研究阐释习近平总书记在文化传承发展座谈会上的重要讲话精神，9月21日，由中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院、陕西科技大学、西安理工大学联合主办的第十一届中国社会科学院科学社会主义论坛在西安举办。

At the opening ceremony, Chen Zhigang, Vice President of the Academy of Marxism of CASS; Gao Hongxia, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Executive Vice Chair of the Shaanxi Provincial Federation of Social Sciences; Fan Jianwu, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology; Liang Shuhua, Vice President of Xi’an University of Technology; and Luo Jun, Deputy Director of the Theory Division of the Publicity Department of the Shaanxi Provincial CPC Committee, attended and delivered speeches. The opening ceremony was presided over by Guo Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology.

开幕式上，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院副院长陈志刚，陕西省社科联党组书记、常务副主席高红霞，陕西科技大学党委书记樊建武，西安理工大学副校长梁淑华，陕西省委宣传部理论处副处长罗军出席会议并致辞。开幕式由陕西科技大学党委副书记郭强主持。

Chen Zhigang pointed out that the forum should deeply study, publicize, and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, deeply research General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of new ideas, new viewpoints, and new conclusions on further deepening reform comprehensively, focus on advancing the great cause of building a strong country and national rejuvenation through Chinese-path modernization, strengthen systematic and theoretical research on Chinese-path modernization, further strengthen research on comprehensively deepening reform, and grasp the relationship between further deepening reform comprehensively and Chinese-path modernization. It is necessary to both strengthen basic theoretical research and solidly carry out investigative research, effectively writing theses on the land of the motherland.

陈志刚指出，论坛要深入学习宣传贯彻党的二十届三中全会精神，深入研究习近平总书记关于进一步全面深化改革的一系列新思想、新观点、新论断，聚焦以中国式现代化全面推进强国建设、民族复兴伟业，加强对中国式现代化的体系化学理化研究、进一步加强对全面深化改革的研究，把握进一步全面深化改革与中国式现代化的关系。既要加强基础理论研究，也要扎实开展调查研究，切实把论文写在祖国大地上。

Gao Hongxia pointed out that the forum’s focus on the theme of advancing the great cause of building a strong country and national rejuvenation through Chinese-path modernization fully demonstrates the political consciousness, theoretical consciousness, and action consciousness of Marxist theoretical workers. The modern civilization of the Chinese nation is a new ideological weapon on the new journey of Chinese-path modernization, a living source for China’s independent knowledge system of philosophy and social sciences that does not forget its origins, and a mutual enhancement of the regional civilization and historical civilization of the ancient capital Chang’an. She hoped that the attending experts and scholars would conduct in-depth discussions based on the great practice of Chinese-path modernization and the mission of building the modern civilization of the Chinese nation.

高红霞指出，论坛聚焦以中国式现代化全面推进强国建设、民族复兴伟业这一主题，充分彰显了马克思主义理论工作者的政治自觉、理论自觉和行动自觉。中华民族现代文明是中国式现代化新征程上新的思想武装，是中国哲学社会科学自主知识体系不忘本来的源头活水，是古都长安地域文明与历史文明的交相辉映。希望各位与会专家学者立足中国式现代化伟大实践和建设中华民族现代文明的使命任务，深入研讨。

Fan Jianwu introduced the historical evolution of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology and the achievements the school has made in recent years in discipline construction, talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, faculty development, international exchanges and cooperation, and the construction of the School of Marxism. He pointed out that the school is currently deeply studying and implementing the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, the spirit of the National Education Conference, and the spirit of the speech made by Provincial Party Secretary Zhao Yide during his inspection of the school. The school will actively construct a “grand ideological and political education” work pattern, leverage the advantages of the provincial-level platforms it hosts, and continuously strengthen theoretical research and experience promotion. He hoped that through this forum, academic exchanges would be broadened, horizons expanded, and cooperation deepened.

樊建武介绍了陕西科技大学的历史沿革和近年来学校在学科建设、人才培养、科学研究、社会服务、师资队伍、国际交流与合作及马克思主义学院建设等方面取得的成绩。他指出，当前学校正在深入学习贯彻党的二十届三中全会精神、全国教育大会精神和省委书记赵一德来校调研讲话精神，学校将积极构建“大思政”工作格局，发挥好承建的省级平台优势，持续强化理论研究和经验推广。希望通过本次论坛，进一步博采学术、开拓视野，增进交流、深化合作。

Liang Shuhua introduced the school-running and discipline development situations of Xi’an University of Technology and its School of Marxism. She hoped that through this forum, exchanges and cooperation between Xi’an University of Technology and universities and research institutes nationwide would be further promoted, jointly advancing theoretical research and academic exchange on scientific socialism.

梁淑华介绍了西安理工大学和西安理工大学马克思主义学院的办学和学科发展情况，希望通过本次论坛进一步推进西安理工大学与全国各高校、科研院所的交流合作，共同推动科学社会主义的理论研究与学术交流。

Luo Jun stated that the vast number of social science and theoretical workers should keep the correct direction while bearing in mind the “great affairs of the state,” [1]1 “Great affairs of the state” (国之大者) is a Party term referring to the most fundamental and overarching interests and tasks of the country and the Party. unswervingly using Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to consolidate souls and inspire minds; find the correct direction in the coordinate system of the state’s overall situation and the province’s major plans, based on China’s practice and linked to Shaanxi’s reality, to answer the questions of China, the world, the people, and the times; and correct the direction while caring about the great affairs of the people, going deep into the grassroots to conduct investigative research, widely carrying out theoretical propaganda and explanation, so that the Party’s innovative theories fly into the homes of ordinary people.

罗军表示，广大社科理论工作者要在胸怀“国之大者”中把牢方向，坚持不懈用习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想凝心铸魂；要在国之大局和省之大计坐标系中找准方向，立足中国实践，联系陕西实际，回答好中国之问、世界之问、人民之问、时代之问；要在心系民之大事中端正方向，深入基层开展调查研究，广泛开展理论宣传宣讲，让党的创新理论飞入寻常百姓家。

This forum deeply explored the historical logic, theoretical logic, and practical logic of advancing the great cause of building a strong country and national rejuvenation through Chinese-path modernization, enhancing academic exchange among Marxist research workers. The forum was divided into keynote reports, thematic reports, and breakout session discussions. Experts, scholars, and media friends from CASS, the Central Party School (National Academy of Governance), Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Shandong University, Tongji University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Hunan University, as well as Guangming Online, *Marxist Studies*, *Studies on World Socialism*, and the *Journal of China Executive Leadership Academy Yan’an*, among other universities, research institutes, and media, participated in exchange speeches.

本届论坛深入探讨了以中国式现代化全面推进强国建设、民族复兴伟业的历史逻辑、理论逻辑、实践逻辑，增进了马克思主义研究工作者的学术交流。论坛分为主旨报告、主题报告、分论坛讨论环节，来自中国社会科学院、中央党校（国家行政学院）、清华大学、北京大学、中国人民大学、山东大学、同济大学、西安交通大学、湖南大学以及光明网和《马克思主义研究》《世界社会主义研究》《中国延安干部学院学报》等高校、科研院所的专家学者、媒体朋友进行了交流发言。

In the keynote report session, Xin Xiangyang, Researcher and President of the Academy of Marxism of CASS; Professor Zhang Guozuo, Director of the Center for China’s Cultural Soft Power Research and of the School of Marxism at Hunan University; Researcher Deng Chundong, former Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of the Academy of Marxism of CASS; Professor Qiu Xiaoyun, Vice President of Gannan Normal University; Professor Xue Guangzhou of the Central Party School (National Academy of Governance); and Professor Xiao Guiqing, Executive Vice President of the Research Institute for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and of the School of Marxism at Tsinghua University, delivered keynote reports titled “State Governance and Chinese-Path Modernization,” “The Eight Major Advantages of Chinese-Path Modernization and Its Transcendence of Western Modernization,” “Adhering to the Correct Direction of Consolidating the Subjectivity of Chinese Culture,” “Mao Zedong Before and After the Decision on the Long March,” “Probing the Development and Significance of Chinese-Path Modernization in the New Era from the Perspective of Mao’s Era’s Exploration of Modernization,” and “Constructing an Institutional System to Advance Chinese-Path Modernization,” respectively. The keynote report session was presided over by Professor Liang Yanbing, Dean of the School of Marxism at Xi’an University of Technology.

主旨报告阶段，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院院长辛向阳研究员，中国文化软实力研究中心主任、湖南大学马克思主义学院张国祚教授，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院原党委书记、院长邓纯东研究员，赣南师范大学副校长邱小云教授，中央党校（国家行政学院）薛广洲教授，清华大学习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究院常务副院长、马克思主义学院肖贵清教授，分别以《国家治理与中国式现代化》《中国式现代化的八大优势及其对西方现代化的超越》《坚持巩固中华文化主体性的正确方向》《长征决策前后的毛泽东》《从毛泽东时代对现代化的探索透视新时代中国式现代化的发展与意义》《构建推进中国式现代化的制度体系》为题作了主旨报告。主旨报告环节由西安理工大学马克思主义学院院长梁严冰教授主持。

In the first phase of thematic reports, Researcher Chen Zhigang, Secretary of the CPC Discipline Inspection Commission and Vice President of the Academy of Marxism of CASS; Researcher Liu Zhiming, Secretary of the CPC Discipline Inspection Commission and Deputy Director of the Institute of Philosophy of CASS; Professor Zhang Shihai, Dean of the School of Marxism at Shandong University; Professor Yan Lianfu, Dean of the School of Marxism at Xi’an Jiaotong University; Professor Liu Xuanqi, Vice President of the Guangxi Baise Executive Leadership Academy; and Professor Wang Chuanli of the School of Marxism at Tsinghua University, respectively reported on the profound connotation of the modern civilization of the Chinese nation, the philosophical implications and methodological requirements of paying more attention to the actual effectiveness of reform, Mao Zedong on the CPC’s construction of cultural leadership, reflections on “strong ideological and political leading power,” research on further deepening reform comprehensively and high-quality open development in border and ethnic regions, and Chinese-path modernization being a modernization led by the CPC. The first phase of thematic reports was presided over by Professor Li Nan, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of Marxism at the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

主题报告第一阶段，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院纪委书记、副院长陈志刚研究员，中国社会科学院哲学研究所纪委书记、副所长刘志明研究员，山东大学马克思主义学院院长张士海教授，西安交通大学马克思主义学院院长燕连福教授，广西百色干部学院副院长刘玄启教授，清华大学马克思主义学院王传利教授，分别围绕中华民族现代文明的深刻内涵、更加注重改革实效的哲理所在和方法论要求、毛泽东论中国共产党文化领导权建设、关于“强大的思政引领力”的几点思考、进一步全面深化改革与边疆民族地区高质量开放发展研究、中国式现代化是中国共产党领导的现代化作了报告。主题报告第一阶段，由中国社会科学院大学马克思主义学院党委书记李楠教授主持。

In the second phase of thematic reports, Researcher He Xinyuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Research on Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context, Academy of Marxism of CASS; Professor Fu Huifang, Dean of the School of Marxism at Fujian Normal University; Professor Tang Huangfeng of the School of CPC History and Party Building at Renmin University of China; Professor Dai Rui, Dean of the School of Marxism at Hohai University; Gao Dongxin, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President of the Xi’an Academy of Social Sciences; and Professor Qi Guang, Dean of the School of Marxism at China University of Mining and Technology, respectively delved into cutting-edge issues such as Party building empowering new quality productive forces, the unique advantages of the new nationwide system [2]2 “New nationwide system” (新型举国体制) refers to a contemporary Chinese institutional mechanism for mobilizing national resources to achieve strategic technological breakthroughs, updated from the older planned-economy model. in promoting the development of new quality productive forces, the socialist dimension of the modern civilization of the Chinese nation, the practical logic of constructing the modern civilization of the Chinese nation, the Xi’an practice of Chinese-path modernization, and the rationale and path of the discourse on Chinese-path modernization. The second phase of thematic reports was presided over by Professor Jiang Hong, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Editorial Department of *Ideological Front* and the Journal of Social Sciences of Yunnan University.

主题报告第二阶段，中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院马克思主义中国化研究部副主任贺新元研究员，福建师范大学马克思主义学院院长傅慧芳教授，中国人民大学中共党史党建学院唐皇凤教授，河海大学马克思主义学院院长戴锐教授，西安市社会科学院党组书记、院长高东新，中国矿业大学马克思主义学院院长亓光教授，分别深入探讨了党建引领赋能新质生产力、新型举国体制促进新质生产力发展的独特优势、中华民族现代文明的社会主义之维、中华民族现代文明建构的实践逻辑、中国式现代化的西安实践、中国式现代化话语的理与路等前沿性问题。主题报告第二阶段，由《思想战线》编辑部•文科学报编辑部主任、主编蒋红教授主持。

At the closing ceremony of the forum, representatives from each breakout session reported on the exchange and discussion situations. The closing ceremony was presided over by Professor Wu Mingyong, Dean of the School of Marxism at Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, and Researcher He Xinyuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Research on Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context, Academy of Marxism of CASS, delivered the conference summary.
