Notice and Call for Papers on the Academic Symposium “‘The Two Integrations’ and the Construction of an Independent Knowledge System for Chinese Philosophy and Social Sciences”

In order to thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important exposition on “the Two Integrations,”[1]1 “The Two Integrations” (两个结合) refers to the integration of the basic tenets of Marxism with China’s specific realities and with the best of fine traditional Chinese culture, a formulation central to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. profoundly grasp its core essence so as to stimulate theoretical innovation vitality, and make every effort to solve the problems of “Westernization” and “aphasia”[2]2 “Aphasia” (失语) here denotes the perceived inability of Chinese philosophy and social sciences to produce original concepts and theories recognized globally, instead passively adopting Western frameworks. existing in the field of Chinese philosophy and social sciences, the Chinese Historical Materialism Society and the School of Marxism of Xi’an University of Technology plan to jointly hold the academic symposium “‘The Two Integrations’ and the Construction of an Independent Knowledge System for Chinese Philosophy and Social Sciences” in Xi’an, Shaanxi, in late April 2026. This symposium aims to promote the construction of an independent knowledge system for Chinese philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics that is rooted in Chinese practice, manifests Chinese wisdom, and possesses subjectivity and originality; to provide solid theoretical support for comprehensively advancing the great cause of building a strong country and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-path modernization;[3]3 Chinese-path modernization (中国式现代化) is the official term for China’s model of modernization, distinct from Western models, emphasizing common prosperity, material and cultural-ethical progress, harmony with nature, and peaceful development. and to contribute Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions to enriching and developing new forms of human civilization. We now openly solicit academic papers from domestic and international academia, and sincerely invite experts and scholars to actively submit manuscripts around the symposium theme, gather in the ancient capital Xi’an, stir up intellectual sparks, and jointly build an academic future.

为深入贯彻落实习近平总书记关于“两个结合”的重要论述，深刻把握其核心要义以激发理论创新活力，着力破解我国哲学社会科学领域存在的“西化”与“失语”问题，中国历史唯物主义学会和西安理工大学马克思主义学院拟于2026年4月下旬在陕西西安联合举办“‘两个结合’与构建中国哲学社会科学自主知识体系”学术研讨会。本次研讨会旨在推动构建植根中国实践、彰显中华智慧、具有主体性和原创性的中国特色哲学社会科学自主知识体系，为以中国式现代化全面推进强国建设、民族复兴伟业提供坚实学理支撑，并为丰富发展人类文明新形态贡献中国智慧与中国方案。现面向海内外学术界公开征集学术论文，诚邀各位专家学者围绕会议主题，踊跃赐稿，相聚古都西安，激荡思想火花，共筑学术未来。

I. Symposium Theme

The theme of this symposium is “‘The Two Integrations’ and the Construction of an Independent Knowledge System for Chinese Philosophy and Social Sciences,” and participation is based on submitted papers. Experts and scholars are sincerely invited to conduct research around, but not limited to, the following topics:

II. Submission Requirements

二、来稿要求

1. Papers must be original academic achievements that have not been publicly published, with correct political orientation, solid argumentation, clear viewpoints, rigorous logic, and compliance with academic norms.

1.论文须为未公开发表的原创性学术成果，政治导向正确，立论扎实，观点明确，逻辑严密，遵守学术规范。

2. The length should be 8,000–12,000 words, including abstract, keywords, main text, notes, and references.

2.字数以8000—12000字为宜，包含摘要、关键词、正文、注释及参考文献。

3. The specific format of submissions must be strictly adjusted according to the requirements in the “Appendix” at the end of this document.

3.来稿具体格式请严格按照文末“附件”要求进行调整。

4. The deadline for submission to this symposium is March 31, 2026. Please send the manuscript (in Word or PDF format) within the above time frame, named as “Unit-Name-Paper Title-Status (Faculty/Student),” as an attachment to the symposium’s designated email address, and indicate in the email subject line “Submission for the Academic Symposium on ‘The Two Integrations’ and the Construction of an Independent Knowledge System for Chinese Philosophy and Social Sciences.”

5. Please indicate the author’s name, unit, title/degree, and contact information (phone, email) in the form of notes at the end of the text. The organizing committee will organize anonymous review by experts and notify the acceptance results and participation arrangements before mid-April 2026.

The symposium does not charge a registration fee. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation expenses. Working meals during the symposium will be arranged uniformly by the host.
