The world has entered a new period of turbulence and transformation and once again stands at a critical crossroads. A small number of countries, acting against the tide of history, are obstructing global economic recovery. Faced with changes unseen in a century, we must all the more concentrate on handling our own affairs well and comprehensively advance Chinese-path modernization through high-quality development. As a key bastion of the Party’s news and public opinion work, how to vividly and engagingly publicize and explain Xi Jinping’s economic thought, and thereby transform the power of truth into practical force, is the mission and responsibility of China Media Group (hereinafter referred to as CMG). Under the strong guidance of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, CMG worked closely with the National Development and Reform Commission to produce the large-scale special program *Xi Jinping’s Economic Thought: A Series of Lectures*, which aired during prime evening time on CMG’s financial channel from March to April 2025, and was simultaneously broadcast on new media platforms such as CCTV News and CCTV Finance. As the first television special to explain Xi Jinping’s economic thought, the program sparked enthusiastic responses after its premiere. Related reports reached a cumulative total of over 400 million views across all media platforms, earning high praise both at home and abroad. “Positive energy” has truly become “big traffic,” providing valuable insights for further publicizing and explaining Xi Jinping’s economic thought and for amplifying the positive narrative of China’s economy.

当前世界进入新的动荡变革期，再次处于关键十字路口，少数国家违背历史潮流，给全球经济复苏带来阻碍。面对百年未有之大变局，更需要我们集中精力办好自己的事情，以高质量发展全面推进中国式现代化。作为党的新闻舆论重镇，如何以鲜活生动的方式宣传阐释好习近平经济思想，推动将真理的力量转化为实践的伟力，是中央广播电视总台（以下简称总台）职责使命之所在。在中宣部有力指导下，总台与国家发展改革委通力合作，大型专题节目《习近平经济思想系列讲读》于2025年3月至4月在总台财经频道晚间黄金时段播出，并在央视新闻、央视财经等新媒体平台同步播出。作为首部阐释习近平经济思想的电视专题片，节目首播后引发热烈反响，相关报道全媒体累计触达超4亿人次，获得海内外高度赞誉，“正能量”真正成为“大流量”，为进一步宣传阐释好习近平经济思想、唱响中国经济光明论提供了有益启示。

Responding to the World’s Instability and Uncertainty with China’s Stability and Certainty

General Secretary Xi Jinping profoundly pointed out, “Economic globalization is an objective requirement of the development of social productive forces, an inevitable outcome of scientific and technological progress, and a mighty historical tide. Although it has encountered headwinds and backlashes, its overall trend has never changed. Blocking economic cooperation under various pretexts and stubbornly splitting an interdependent world is turning back the wheel of history.” [1]1 “Scattered perspective” (散点透视) and “focal perspective” (焦点透视) are terms from traditional Chinese painting theory, referring to multiple vanishing points versus a single vanishing point in composition. Currently, China’s economic development faces new domestic and international challenges. A small number of countries, acting against the tide of history and economic laws, resort to beggar-thy-neighbor policies and zero-sum games, while unilateralism and protectionism, long discredited, are staging a comeback. The heavier the tasks, the more we need scientific ideological weapons as theoretical guidance; the more complex the affairs, the more we need to use our own stability and certainty to respond to the world’s instability and uncertainty, providing strong positive energy for a turbulent world.

General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized, “We need to reduce the global development imbalance, steer economic globalization toward greater openness, inclusiveness, balance, and win-win outcomes, and enable people of all countries to share in the fruits of economic globalization and world economic growth.” [2]2 Quotation from Xi Jinping’s speech at the 2016 National Science and Technology Innovation Conference, the Two Academician Conferences, and the Ninth National Congress of the China Association for Science and Technology. Since the beginning of this year, General Secretary Xi Jinping has successfully conducted state visits to Southeast Asian countries and Russia, and attended the second China–Central Asia Summit, achieving fruitful results in “head-of-state diplomacy.” We deeply feel that the concepts advocated by General Secretary Xi Jinping, such as building a community with a shared future for mankind and strengthening cooperation in industrial and supply chains, have won widespread praise and strong resonance from various countries. We also deeply feel the broad development opportunities that Chinese-path modernization has brought to neighboring countries. In recent years, through the practice of exchange, interaction, and confrontation with international media, we have deeply realized that concepts in Xi Jinping’s economic thought—such as the global economic governance vision advocating equality, openness, cooperation, and sharing—are increasingly gaining broad recognition and support from the international community. As General Secretary Xi Jinping profoundly pointed out, “Tariff wars and trade wars have no winners; unilateralism, protectionism, and hegemonism are bound to harm others and oneself.” [3]3 “Xuexi Qiangguo” (学习强国, “Study the Powerful Nation”) is a state-run mobile app and online platform for studying Party theory and state policy, launched in 2019. International public opinion generally holds that so-called “country-first” policies are like drinking poison to quench thirst and are retrogressive acts doomed to fail. Not long ago, a global opinion poll released by CMG’s CGTN showed that 92.14% of respondents believed that the economic coercion of other countries by certain individual countries severely disrupts global market stability and ultimately harms the perpetrator. In the face of the economic bullying of a new round of indiscriminate tariff hikes by certain individual countries, we timely planned and launched *Xi Jinping’s Economic Thought: A Series of Lectures*, further strengthening the confidence of the broad audience in overcoming risks and challenges. Many experts and scholars, after watching the program, said: “The special program perfectly aligns with the current fervent expectations of the entire Party and society. Its broadcast timing is an excellent opportunity to boost confidence and rally efforts. It clearly and unequivocally declares China’s stance and demonstrates the responsibility of a major country.” At the same time, we acted swiftly to strike back, continuously launching a large number of high-quality international communication programs, including special reports such as *The Scourge of Tariffs* and *“Reciprocal” Tariffs Cannot Save You*, authoritative interviews, commentaries, and global opinion polls. We presented facts and reasoned in a calm and rational manner, promoting the widespread dissemination of Xi Jinping’s economic thought in the international public opinion arena and evoking strong resonance.

General Secretary Xi Jinping profoundly pointed out, "We must adhere to the people-centered development thought. Development for the people is the fundamental stance of Marxist political economy." Xi Jinping's economic thought originates from the practical creations of the people; it is the people's economics, most capable of being understood and applied by the people, and must be disseminated and elucidated in ways that the people find pleasing. The extraordinary practice of Chinese-path modernization is vivid and lively, and our theoretical propaganda and elucidation must also be vivid and lively. How to both faithfully elucidate this important thought in its original essence and combine it with dissemination tailored to the characteristics of different audiences, thereby fostering resonance and then conscious practice, tests our skill.

Content guided by thought carries more weight, and energy that can provide positive motivation has greater value. The CMG always bears in mind the important requirement to “strengthen economic publicity and public opinion guidance, and sing the praises of China’s economic bright prospects.” [5]5 “Sing the praises of China’s economic bright prospects” (唱响中国经济光明论) is a standard Party formulation used to direct economic propaganda to maintain positive messaging about the economy. It will further act as the main force and vanguard in disseminating Xi Jinping’s economic thought, continue to run key economic programmes and columns such as *Economic Information Broadcast*, *Economic Half Hour*, *Dialogue*, and *CCTV Financial Commentary*, and plan brand activities such as the “New Quality Productive Forces Index”, the “Financial Street Economic Prosperity Index”, the “Consumption Vitality Index”, and the “Supply Chain Resilience Index”. [7]7 The “Two Upholds” (两个维护) refers to upholding General Secretary Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and upholding the Party Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership. We firmly believe that, with the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, and the scientific guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the ship of the Chinese economy will surely ride the wind and waves, and forge ahead steadily and far!
