Call for Papers: Inaugural Ceremony and First Symposium of the Contemporary World Culture and Civilization Research Committee of the Chinese Society of Historical Materialism

To study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, give full play to the strengths and role of the Chinese Society of Historical Materialism, pool the wisdom and strength of the academic community, apply the world outlook and methodology of historical materialism, strengthen research on contemporary Chinese and world culture and civilization, deepen cultural and civilizational exchanges and mutual learning, promote Chinese culture to better reach the world, enhance the influence of Chinese civilization, and better understand and grasp theoretical issues such as the compatibility between fine traditional Chinese culture and the values of scientific socialism and the creation of a new form of human civilization by Chinese-path modernization, the Chinese Society of Historical Materialism has decided to establish the Contemporary World Culture and Civilization Research Committee. It plans to hold the inaugural ceremony in June this year and jointly host the first symposium with Beijing International Studies University and *Contemporary World* magazine. We sincerely welcome experts and scholars in relevant research fields to join the committee and actively participate in the society’s activities.

学习贯彻党的二十大精神，发挥中国历史唯物主义学会的优势和作用，凝聚学界的智慧和力量，运用历史唯物主义的世界观和方法论，加强当代中国与世界文化与文明的研究，深化文化与文明交流互鉴，推动中华文化更好走向世界，增强中华文明影响力，更好理解和把握中华优秀传统文化与科学社会主义价值观的契合、中国式现代化创造人类文明新形态等理论问题。中国历史唯物主义学会决定成立当代世界文化与文明研究专业委员会，拟于今年6月举行成立仪式，并联合北京第二外国语学院、《当代世界》杂志社共同主办首届研讨会。诚挚欢迎相关研究领域的专家学者加入专业委员会，并积极参与学会的活动。

Submitted papers should choose their own topics around the conference theme, adhere to the correct political direction and scientific academic orientation; papers must be unpublished research results and conform to academic norms; the length of papers should generally not exceed 10,000 characters (including notes), and should include 3-5 keywords and an abstract of no more than 300 characters; citations and historical materials should be accurate and rigorous, with sources indicated (please refer to the format of *Marxist Studies*). After the initial selection of papers, the forum preparatory group will send invitations to selected authors by May 20. The deadline for paper submission is May 15, 2023.
