“Twenty Years of the Construction of the Marxist Theory Discipline” Academic Symposium Held

In December 2005, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education issued the “Notice on Adjusting and Adding the First-Level Discipline of Marxist Theory and Its Subordinate Second-Level Disciplines,” deciding to add the first-level discipline of Marxist theory and its subordinate second-level disciplines to the “Catalogue of Disciplines and Specialties for Granting Doctoral and Master’s Degrees and for Graduate Education.” On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Marxist theory discipline, the academic symposium “Twenty Years of the Construction of the Marxist Theory Discipline: Review and Prospect,” co-hosted by the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was recently held in Shanghai. More than 80 participating experts and scholars jointly discussed the achievements and experience of the 20 years since the establishment of the Marxist theory discipline, and conducted discussions centered on Marxist theoretical research and disciplinary construction.

2005年12月，国务院学位委员会、教育部印发《关于调整增设马克思主义理论一级学科及所属二级学科的通知》，决定在《授予博士、硕士学位和培养研究生的学科、专业目录》中增设马克思主义理论一级学科及所属二级学科。时值马克思主义理论学科设立20年之际，由上海社会科学院和中国社会科学院大学共同主办的“马克思主义理论学科建设二十年：回顾与前瞻”学术研讨会近日在上海召开。80余名与会专家学者共同探讨马克思主义理论学科设立20年来的成就与经验，并围绕马克思主义理论研究和学科建设进行研讨。

Reviewing the development process of the past 20 years, the construction of the Marxist theory discipline has achieved remarkable results. Gu Hailiang, a consultant for the Central Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project [1] and a chair professor at Peking University’s Boya Program, pointed out that, led and promoted by the Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project, the Marxist theory discipline, centered on the discipline’s foundation, roots, core, and framework, has undergone several adjustments to form a scientific and reasonable layout of second-level disciplines. Quan Heng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, pointed out that over the past 20 years, the Marxist theory discipline has been one of the fastest-growing disciplines in the system of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics, playing an active role in serving national ideological security, supporting the construction of ideological and political theory courses, and cultivating reserve talents. Cui Weihang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, pointed out that since the 18th National Congress of the CPC [2], the foundational, holistic, innovative, and sustainable nature of the construction of the Marxist theory discipline has been increasingly strengthened, with notable achievements in the compilation of classic works, theoretical research and interpretation, research on major issues, construction of the textbook system, and cultivation of talent teams, providing strong theoretical support for the new journey of the New Era [3].

回顾过去20年发展历程，马克思主义理论学科建设成效显著。中央马克思主义理论研究和建设工程咨询委员、北京大学博雅讲席教授顾海良指出，在马克思主义理论研究和建设工程引领推动下，马克思主义理论学科围绕学科的根本、根基、核心、框架，历经几次调整，形成了科学合理的二级学科布局。上海社会科学院党委书记权衡指出，20年来，马克思主义理论学科是中国特色哲学社会科学学科体系中发展最快的学科之一，在服务国家意识形态安全、支撑思政课建设、培养后备人才等方面发挥了积极作用。中国社会科学院大学党委书记崔唯航指出，党的十八大以来，马克思主义理论学科建设的基础性、整体性、创新性和可持续性日益增强，在经典著作编译、理论研究阐释、重大问题研究、教材体系建设、人才队伍培养等方面成效显著，为新时代新征程提供了强大理论支撑。

On the new journey of the New Era, we face new epochal topics and practical tasks, and the Marxist theory discipline has the responsibility to conduct theoretical discussion and academic research on them. 新时代新征程，我们面临新的时代课题和现实任务，马克思主义理论学科有责任对其加以理论探讨和学术研究。与会学者认为，马克思主义理论学科建设必须将学习宣传贯彻习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想作为重中之重，深化党的创新理论体系化学理化研究阐释。中共中央党校原副校长李君如以邓小平理论的体系构建和学理研究为案例，指出推进党的创新理论体系化学理化研究阐释要解决好逻辑、学理、学术和话语问题。南京师范大学马克思主义学科集群（学部）部长王永贵指出，马克思主义理论学科的基本定位应该是综合性的，要在学科体系的综合规范、特色创新方面做文章，与其他学科深度融合，夯实党的创新理论研究阐释的学科基础。天津大学马克思主义学院院长颜晓峰指出，深化体系化学理化研究阐释，要把体系逻辑、历史逻辑和实践逻辑统一起来，把学理论证和实践论证结合起来，从思想的创新性、理论的科学性、学术的支撑力方面着力。中国社会科学院马克思主义研究院院长辛向阳认为，构建马克思主义理论学科的自主知识体系，是推进党的创新理论体系化学理化研究阐释的重要抓手，在此过程中要对马克思主义的世界观方法论进行综合性研究，深入研究中华优秀传统文化，吸收借鉴哲学社会科学研究成果。

To promote better development of the discipline of Marxist theory, it is necessary to delve deeply into the social realities of contemporary China and the world, to grasp thoroughly the pulse of the times, and to solidify the academic foundation. Han Xiping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Jilin University, pointed out that it is essential to strengthen guidance, enhance holism, reinforce theoretical reasoning, highlight practicality, implement autonomy, increase indigenousness, and consciously strengthen the guiding role of the discipline of Marxist theory for philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics. Yang Haifeng, Dean of the School of Marxism at Peking University, pointed out that it is necessary to deeply grasp the trends of historical development, to grasp China's own history and culture, to grasp the history and culture of the West, and, on the basis of taking root in the era and reality, to deepen Marxist academic research, theoretical inquiry, and disciplinary construction in contemporary China. Zhang Zhanbin, Director of the Research Center for Chinese-Path Modernization at the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC (National Academy of Governance), pointed out that Marxist theoretical research and disciplinary construction must face practice and be advanced in the process of leading Chinese-path modernization with Marxism adapted to the Chinese context and the needs of the times. Zhu Huanghe, Dean of the Institute of Marxist Studies at Jiangxi Normal University, argued that it is necessary to clarify what general and specific laws the discipline of Marxist theory has compared with other disciplines, and whether we have followed these laws; this is a question that must be accurately grasped in advancing the construction of the discipline of Marxist theory. Jiang Youfu, Director of the Institute of Chinese Marxism at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, pointed out that it is necessary to take root in China, base oneself on the era, solidify the intellectual and academic foundation in the process of continuing Chinese civilization and leading human civilization, deeply study major theoretical and practical issues, and promote high-quality development of the discipline of Marxism.

推动马克思主义理论学科实现更好发展，要深入当今中国和世界的社会现实，深入把握时代的发展脉络，厚植学术根基。吉林大学党委副书记韩喜平指出，要强化引领性，提升整体性，加强学理性，突出实践性，落实自主性，增强本土性，自觉加强马克思主义理论学科对中国特色哲学社会科学的引领作用。北京大学马克思主义学院院长仰海峰指出，应深入把握历史发展趋势，把握中国自身的历史和文化，把握西方的历史和文化，在立足时代和现实的基础上深化马克思主义在当代中国的学术研究、学理探讨和学科建构。中共中央党校（国家行政学院）中国式现代化研究中心主任张占斌指出，马克思主义理论研究和学科建设要面向实践，在以中国化时代化马克思主义引领中国式现代化进程中加以推进。江西师范大学马克思主义研究院院长祝黄河认为，要理清马克思主义理论学科相较于其他学科的一般规律和特殊规律有哪些，我们是否遵循了这些规律等，这是推进马克思主义理论学科建设应当准确把握的问题。上海社会科学院中国马克思主义研究所所长姜佑福指出，应扎根中国、立足时代，在赓续中华文明和引领人类文明的进程中厚植思想学术根基，深入研究重大理论和实践问题，推进马克思主义学科高质量发展。
