Gao Xiang stated that the National History Society is a bridge and bond uniting and rallying experts and scholars in the field of research on the history of the People’s Republic of China, and an important force for advancing the research, propaganda, and educational work on the history of the People’s Republic of China. Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC [1]1 The 18th National Congress of the CPC was held in November 2012, marking the beginning of Xi Jinping’s leadership and the launch of a series of major political and economic initiatives., General Secretary Xi Jinping has delivered important speeches on the history of the People’s Republic of China on multiple important occasions, and has issued a series of important instructions and directives on research into the history of the People’s Republic of China. On December 8, 2022, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the National History Society, General Secretary Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter, fully reflecting his high regard and warm concern for the research, propaganda, and educational work on the history of the People’s Republic of China, and his ardent expectations and earnest entrustment to the vast number of researchers in the history of the People’s Republic of China, thereby pointing the direction and providing the fundamental guidance for the development of research on the history of the People’s Republic of China in the New Era [2]2 The “New Era” refers to the period of socialism with Chinese characteristics under Xi Jinping’s leadership, formally declared at the. We must bear in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping’s entrustment, adhere to taking Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as our banner and soul, carry the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s congratulatory letter and the important discourse on the history of the People’s Republic of China through the entire process of research, propaganda, and education on the history of the People’s Republic of China, and promote high-quality development of research on the history of the People’s Republic of China with a stronger sense of mission and responsibility.

高翔表示，国史学会是团结凝聚新中国史研究领域专家学者的桥梁纽带，是推动新中国史研究、宣传和教育事业发展的重要力量。党的十八大以来，习近平总书记在多个重要场合发表关于新中国史的重要讲话，针对新中国史研究作出一系列重要指示批示。2022年12月8日，在国史学会成立30周年之际，习近平总书记发来贺信，充分体现了对新中国史研究、宣传、教育工作的高度重视和亲切关怀，对广大国史研究工作者的殷切期望和殷殷重托，为新时代新中国史研究事业发展指明了方向、提供了根本遵循。我们要牢记习近平总书记嘱托，坚持以习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想为旗帜和灵魂，把习近平总书记贺信精神和关于新中国史的重要论述精神贯穿新中国史研究、宣传、教育全过程，以更强使命担当推动新中国史研究事业高质量发展。

Gao Xiang emphasized that this change of leadership has opened a new chapter in the development of the National History Society. The new council must take the systematic in-depth study, research, and interpretation of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourse on the history of the People’s Republic of China as its primary task, deeply contemplate and thoroughly comprehend the historical materialism, people’s standpoint, and practical concerns running through it, and achieve new results in strengthening systematic and theoretical research and interpretation. It must carry forward and pass on the fine traditions of Chinese historiography, uphold a sense of commitment to the nation and its people, make good use of the “Two Integrations” [3] as the greatest magic weapon, take the historic achievements since reform and opening up [4], especially since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, as the focus of research, and faithfully record and vividly display the great miracles created and great achievements attained in advancing Chinese-path modernization [5] in the New Era. It must continuously promote innovation in theory and method, strengthen social investigation, promptly record, analyze, and study the great practice of the New Era, and in focusing on serving the comprehensive construction of a modern socialist country, highlight the function of research on the history of the People’s Republic of China in using history as a mirror for the present and educating people through historical lessons, thereby better serving the overall work of the Party and the state. It must strengthen the Party’s overall leadership over the work of the society, meticulously implement the requirements for rectification from inspections by the Central Committee and the Academy Party Group, integrate strict discipline and rules throughout the entire rectification process, further improve the society’s management and supervision systems, and foster a clean, upright, united, and upward-looking healthy environment. The Academy’s functional departments must increase support for the work of the National History Society, support the National History Society in focusing on its main responsibilities and core business, further unite and rally the national research forces on the history of the People’s Republic of China, carry out cross-disciplinary and cross-institutional collaborative research on major theoretical and practical issues, continuously produce high-quality research results, consistently issue the correct voice on the history of the People’s Republic of China, and strive to build a strong bastion and a theoretical and academic iron army for research on the history of the People’s Republic of China in the New Era that the Party and the people can trust, rely on, and make use of.

高翔强调，此次换届开启了国史学会发展新篇章。新一届理事会要将系统深入学习贯彻、研究阐释习近平总书记关于新中国史的重要论述精神作为首要任务，深思细悟贯穿其中的唯物史观、人民立场和现实关切，在加强体系化学理化研究阐释上取得新成效。要赓续传承中国史学优良传统，秉持家国情怀，用好“两个结合”这一最大法宝，将改革开放以来特别是党的十八大以来取得的历史性成就作为研究重点，真实记录、生动展示新时代推进中国式现代化创造的伟大奇迹、取得的伟大成就。要不断推进理论与方法创新，加强社会调查，及时记录、分析、研究新时代伟大实践，在聚焦服务全面建设社会主义现代化国家中彰显新中国史研究以史鉴今、资政育人功能，更好服务党和国家工作大局。要加强党对学会工作的全面领导，一丝不苟落实好中央和院党组巡视整改要求，把严明的纪律规矩贯穿整改全过程，进一步健全学会管理和监督制度，营造风清气正、团结向上的良好生态。院职能部门要加大对国史学会工作的保障力度，支持国史学会聚焦主责主业，进一步团结凝聚全国国史研究力量，围绕重大理论和实践问题开展跨学科跨单位协同攻关，不断推出高质量研究成果，持续发出国史正声，努力打造党和人民信得过、靠得住、用得上的新时代新中国史研究坚强阵地和理论学术铁军。
