Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Releases Major Achievements Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War

Chinese Academy of Social Sciences News (Reporter Gao Ying) On August 18, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences held a special press conference in Beijing, themed “Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War,” releasing 11 major achievements. Vice President and Party Leadership Group Member Zhao Rui attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Zhao Rui stated that 80 years ago, after 14 years of unyielding and bloody struggle, the Chinese people achieved the great victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. The victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was the historical turning point for the Chinese nation from the deep crisis it had fallen into since modern times toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. It was an important component of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War, and a great victory of justice over evil, light over darkness, and progress over reaction. This magnificent, arduous, and extraordinary war opened a new journey of the phoenix-like rebirth and renewal of ancient China. Its important historical status, far-reaching world significance, and eternal spiritual value are what we must profoundly remember and continuously deepen our research into.

赵芮表示，80年前，中国人民经过14年不屈不挠的浴血奋战，取得了抗日战争的伟大胜利。中国人民抗日战争的胜利，是中华民族从近代以来陷入深重危机走向伟大复兴的历史转折点，是世界反法西斯战争胜利的重要组成部分，是正义战胜邪恶、光明战胜黑暗、进步战胜反动的伟大胜利。这场波澜壮阔、艰苦卓绝的战争，开启了古老中国凤凰涅槃、浴火重生的新征程，其重要的历史地位、深远的世界意义和永恒的精神价值，是我们必须深刻铭记并持续深化研究的。

Zhao Rui pointed out that the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, as the highest academic institution for philosophy and social science research in China, always bears in mind the “great affairs of the state” [1]1 “Great affairs of the state” (国之大者) is a Party idiom referring to matters of fundamental importance to the nation’s overall interests, often used to signal that a research agenda aligns with the strategic priorities of the Party Central Committee. and regards research on the history of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the history of the Second World War as an extremely important political task and academic project. Under the planning and deployment of the Party Leadership Group of the Academy, the research mechanism in this field has gradually matured. The collation of materials, database construction, publication of comprehensive and thematic research results, conference platform construction, academic journal construction, discipline construction, research office construction, and training of young talents have formed a combined force, providing all-round support for the sustained development of research on the history of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the history of the Second World War. It is hoped that relevant personnel will continue to deepen research, provide counsel for governance and educate people, unite and collaborate, continuously produce high-quality academic results, effectively serve the overall work of the Party and the state, promote the formation of an organized scientific research work pattern, transform the great spirit of the War of Resistance into a powerful driving force for overcoming difficulties and forging ahead, and forge the profound historical wisdom into the great practice of building a strong country and achieving national rejuvenation.

赵芮指出，中国社会科学院作为中国哲学社会科学研究的最高学术机构，始终胸怀“国之大者”，将抗日战争史及第二次世界大战史研究作为一项极为重要的政治任务和学术工程。在院党组谋划部署下，我院在该领域的研究机制已日渐成熟，资料整理、数据库建设、综合性和专题性研究成果发表、会议平台建设、学术期刊建设、学科建设、研究室建设、青年人才培养等形成合力，为抗日战争史及第二次世界大战史研究的持续发展提供了全方位保障。希望相关人员持续深化研究、资政育人、团结协作，不断推出高质量学术成果，有效服务党和国家工作大局，推进形成有组织科研工作格局，将伟大抗战精神转化为攻坚克难、砥砺前行的强大动能，将深沉的历史智慧熔铸于强国建设、民族复兴的伟大实践。

According to the introduction, the 11 major achievements released this time include 7 monographs, 3 theoretical articles and papers, and 1 data platform. At the meeting, Wang Jianlang, researcher at the Institute of Modern History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Liu Zuokui, director of the Institute of World History; Jin Yilin, deputy director of the Institute of Modern History; Du Jidong, researcher at the Chinese-Path Modernization Research Institute; Wang Shihua, researcher at the Institute of Modern History; Zhou Bin, associate researcher at the Institute of Modern History; and Xu Chi, associate researcher at the Institute of Law, as representatives of the authors, respectively introduced the basic situation of the relevant results.

据介绍，此次发布的11项重大成果包括专著类成果7项，理论文章和论文类成果3项，数据平台类成果1项。会上，中国社会科学院近代史研究所研究员王建朗、世界历史研究所所长刘作奎、近代史研究所副所长金以林、中国式现代化研究院研究员杜继东、近代史研究所研究员王士花、近代史研究所副研究员周斌、法学研究所副研究员徐持作为作者代表，分别介绍了相关成果的基本情况。
