Deeply Grasping the Intrinsic Connection between Economy and Culture

Xi Jinping Economic Thought and Xi Jinping Thought on Culture are interconnected, profoundly revealing the laws of integration, interaction, and integrated development between the economy and culture. For the economics community, a very important topic or research direction is to combine Xi Jinping Economic Thought with Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, studying the internal logical relationships among high-quality development, cultural development, and the construction of China’s independent economics knowledge system. Such research is of great significance for addressing the current problem in academia where culture is discussed in isolation from the economy and the economy is discussed in isolation from culture.

习近平经济思想和习近平文化思想是相互贯通的，深刻揭示了经济与文化的交融互动和融合发展规律。对于经济学界来说，一个十分重要的课题或者研究方向，就是把习近平经济思想和习近平文化思想结合起来，研究高质量发展、文化建设和建构中国自主的经济学知识体系之间的内在逻辑关系。这样的研究对于解决当前学界仍然存在的就文化谈文化、就经济谈经济的问题而言，具有重要意义。

On the one hand, we must deeply grasp the cultural foundation and connotations of Xi Jinping Economic Thought. The economics community has primarily studied and interpreted Xi Jinping Economic Thought from the perspective of political economy, reaching a basic consensus: it is necessary to take Xi Jinping Economic Thought as the guide and main content, construct a theoretical system of socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics, and on this basis build our own academic system, disciplinary system, and discourse system. Currently, an important research topic facing the economics community is how to proceed from the integration of cultural studies and economics, and from the internal connection between Xi Jinping Economic Thought and Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, to deeply study the cultural foundation and connotations of Xi Jinping Economic Thought, further deepening and expanding the understanding of Xi Jinping Economic Thought. We must not only study how Xi Jinping Economic Thought promotes and develops traditional Chinese economic thought that reflects the essence of fine traditional Chinese culture, but also study how Xi Jinping Economic Thought inherits and develops the Marxist cultural theory embedded in Marxist political economy, and further study the internal connection between Xi Jinping Economic Thought and Xi Jinping Thought on Culture.

一方面，我们要深刻把握习近平经济思想的文化底蕴与内涵。经济学界主要是从政治经济学的角度对习近平经济思想进行研究和阐释，并形成了基本共识，这就是必须以习近平经济思想为指导和主要内容，构建中国特色社会主义政治经济学理论体系，并以此为基础构建自己的学术体系、学科体系、话语体系。当前，经济学界面临的一个重要研究课题，就是如何从文化学与经济学的结合、从习近平经济思想与习近平文化思想的内在联系出发，深入研究习近平经济思想的文化底蕴和内涵，进一步深化和拓展对习近平经济思想的理解。我们不仅要研究习近平经济思想如何弘扬和发展了反映中华优秀传统文化精华的中国传统经济思想，而且要研究习近平经济思想如何继承和发展了马克思主义政治经济学中蕴含的马克思主义文化理论，还要研究习近平经济思想和习近平文化思想的内在联系。

On the other hand, we must further grasp the economic foundation and rich connotations of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture. Currently, people’s understanding of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture still lacks dimensions and perspectives from social sciences, including economics. We need to understand Xi Jinping Economic Thought from a cultural perspective, and also need to understand Xi Jinping Thought on Culture from an economic perspective. Theoretically, philosophy and social sciences, including economics, are inherently important components of modern social culture. Understanding philosophy and social sciences, including economics, as important components of social culture is consistent with the basic viewpoints of Marxism. Narrowly defined culture, especially literature and art, certainly has its relative independence, but culture and its role cannot be discussed entirely apart from economic development and economics. From this perspective, economists, especially political economists, should deeply study Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, unify and integrate Xi Jinping Economic Thought and Xi Jinping Thought on Culture in their research, deeply understand the inherent cultural foundation and humanistic spirit embodied in Xi Jinping Economic Thought, and apply this to the academic research of constructing China’s independent economics knowledge system.

另一方面，我们要进一步把握习近平文化思想的经济学底蕴和丰富内涵。目前，人们对习近平文化思想的理解尚缺少包括经济学在内的社会科学维度和视角。我们既需要从文化角度出发理解习近平经济思想，也需要从经济角度出发理解习近平文化思想。从理论上来说，包括经济学在内的哲学社会科学本来就是现代社会文化的重要组成部分。把包括经济学在内的哲学社会科学理解为社会文化的重要组成部分，符合马克思主义基本观点。狭义的文化，特别是文学艺术等，固然有其相对独立性，但是不能完全脱离开经济发展和经济学谈文化及其作用。从这个角度看，经济学者特别是政治经济学者应深入研究习近平文化思想，把习近平经济思想和习近平文化思想统一起来、融合起来展开研究，深刻理解习近平经济思想内在的文化底蕴和体现的人文精神，并运用于建构中国自主的经济学知识体系的学术研究中。
