Since the New Era, the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, facing a severe and complex international environment and arduous, heavy tasks of domestic reform, development, and stability, has creatively put forward a series of new concepts, new ideas, and new strategies in the practice of applying the basic principles of Marxist political economy to guide New Era economic development, thereby forming and richly developing Xi Jinping’s economic thought. The vigorous vitality of Xi Jinping’s economic thought lies in its profound answers to a series of theoretical and practical questions that the classical Marxist writers never discussed, that our predecessors never encountered, and that Western economic theory has always been unable to resolve, comprehensively and systematically elucidating “how to view and how to act” regarding China’s economy in the New Era. The theoretical articles in *The Collected Research Papers on Xi Jinping’s Economic Thought (2024)* not only focus on basic content such as strengthening the Party’s overall leadership over economic work, adhering to a people-centered development philosophy, and upholding and improving the basic socialist economic system, but also address major topics such as further deepening reform comprehensively and developing new quality productive forces, presenting to readers the rigorous system, innovative achievements, and scientific methods of Xi Jinping’s economic thought. Moreover, many articles discuss the inheritance and development of Marxist political economy by Xi Jinping’s economic thought, emphasizing the practical spirit, people-centered sentiment, problem awareness, and global vision contained within it, fully proving that this important thought has a solid theoretical foundation and shines with the philosophical brilliance of the Marxist worldview and methodology. By reading these theoretical articles, readers can profoundly grasp from the perspectives of principle, theory, and philosophy the decisive significance of the Two Establishments [1]1 The Two Establishments refers to the establishment of Xi, and deeply understand that Xi Jinping’s economic thought is the action guide for doing economic work well in the New Era, capable of ensuring that we effectively respond to various risks and challenges and win strategic initiative amid changes unseen in a century.

习近平经济思想的蓬勃生命力，就在于深刻回答了马克思主义经典作家没有讲过、我们的前人从未遇到过、西方经济理论始终无法解决的一系列理论和现实问题，全面系统阐明了新时代中国经济“怎么看、怎么办”。《习近平经济思想研究文集（2024）》中的理论文章，既聚焦加强党对经济工作的全面领导、坚持以人民为中心的发展思想、坚持和完善社会主义基本经济制度等基本内容，又关注进一步全面深化改革、发展新质生产力等重大课题，向读者展现了习近平经济思想的严密体系、创新成果和科学方法。不仅如此，不少文章还论述了习近平经济思想对马克思主义政治经济学的继承和发展，强调了蕴藏其中的实践精神、人民情怀、问题意识和世界眼光，充分证明了这一重要思想具有坚实的学理根基，闪耀着马克思主义世界观和方法论的哲理光芒。通过阅读这些理论文章，读者能够从道理学理哲理上深刻领悟“两个确立”的决定性意义，深刻认识习近平经济思想是新时代做好经济工作的行动指南，能够确保我们在世界百年未有之大变局中有效应对各种风险挑战、赢得战略主动。

Practice is the source of theory. Xi Jinping’s economic thought consistently adheres to a practice-oriented approach, focuses on objective reality, and concentrates on deep-seated contradictions and various risks and challenges, providing guidance for solving development difficulties, enhancing development momentum, consolidating development advantages, and promoting high-quality development of China’s economy. Only by extensively and deeply acquiring materials in practice, and continuously observing and studying the laws and internal logic of development across various industries, sectors, and regions, can we constantly grasp the pulse of China’s economic development, thereby elevating practical experience into theory. In this sense, reporting on cases of investigation and research, enabling readers to truly and concretely perceive the historic achievements and historic transformations in China’s economic development under the guidance of Xi Jinping’s economic thought in the New Era, is undoubtedly very important. *The Collected Research Reports on Practicing Xi Jinping’s Economic Thought (2024)* plays this role well. This book is composed of a series of heavyweight reports launched by the Economic Daily through in-depth investigations, including three parts: “Local Investigations,” “Industry Investigations,” and “Enterprise Investigations.” It demonstrates the theoretical persuasiveness, practical explanatory power, and practical guiding force of Xi Jinping’s economic thought through vivid cases of high-quality development in China’s economy in the New Era. It not only depicts impressive report cards of economic development through detailed data but also shows the sense of gain from economic development through the observations and words of ordinary people. It focuses on depicting achievements and transformations from the micro to the macro level, highlighting the major trend of China’s economy’s long-term sustained and healthy development and steady progress; at the same time, it does not avoid problems, directly confronting real challenges, and presents realistic scenes of various industries rising to difficulties, striving hard, and dealing with problems in development and transformation. In these reports that are “stained with soil,” “bearing dewdrops,” and “exuding warmth,” the distinctive features of China’s economy—stable foundation, numerous advantages, strong resilience, and great potential—are comprehensively displayed. In particular, the advantages of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics, the advantages of the super-large-scale market, the advantages of the complete industrial system, and the advantages of abundant human resources are truly presented, helping readers to elevate their understanding of economic development achievements from perceptual knowledge to regular understanding.

The period of the 15th Five-Year Plan [2] is a critical period for consolidating the foundation and making comprehensive efforts to basically achieve socialist modernization. Carefully reading, studying, learning, understanding, and practicing the series of books on Xi Jinping’s economic thought not only enables us to better grasp the theoretical connotation of Xi Jinping’s economic thought and feel its practical power, but also allows us to unify our understanding of theory and practice into the blueprint for the 15th Five-Year Plan development drawn up by the Party Central Committee, maintain strategic focus, enhance confidence in victory, overcome difficulties, combat risks, and meet challenges with a spirit of historical initiative, continuously creating new prospects for high-quality development.
